Hey everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend. We had a very busy, but very enjoyable weekend. It all started with a date with my hubby on Friday night which was really nice. Always nice to get that one on one time together, which is rare, in a house with 4 kids!

Then like i mentioned we went to visit family in the country. It was so nice to catch up again with Anthony and Jeannette, and the kids. The kids had so much fun, and were really really sad to have to say good bye. Hopefully we will see them again over the Christmas break.

Then today it has been busy, just catching up, and re-organizing the house ready for the week ahead. I can feel I am coming down with a cold though…..sore throat and runny nose. I really hope it doesn’t develop into anything worse, as I really am hoping to get lots done this week!

Well to start the week off, here is my Make it Monday Tutorial for you, I hope you enjoy it

Gift Boxes               

 

Materials Required:

    

 

     ·    Paper trimmer

·        Wide ribbon

·        Bone scorer

·        Tape

·        Stamps

·        Stamp pads

·        12 x 12 cardstock

·        12 x 12 DS paper

·        Stiff cardboard

·        Scissors

·        Twine, or cord

·        Hole punch

 

Step 1:

 

Take your sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock, and score in 6cm’s from each edge on the four sides of the cardstock

 

Step 2:

 

 

Cut the cardstock on every right hand corner up to the score line. I actually like to cut a little to the right, and then along the score line so you remove a very small strip of cardstock. This is so that when you join the edges they meet correctly and don’t overlap. It should look like the second image.

 

Step 3:Fold up your cardstock once it is cut along all the scored lines. Next add your double sided tape along the little cut flaps.

 

Step 4:

 

Fold your box up and seal the edges. This cardstock box will be the base.

 

Step 5:

To make it stronger, cut a piece of cardboard….I have used the sheets that come in the DS paper packs. It should measure 18cm x 18cm. This will go into the base, so tape it in. I have covered the cardboard with DS paper to make it all match in and look neat

 

Step 6:

 

Take your sheet of DS paper and score two edges at 4cm’s in from the edge.

 

Step 7:

 

Fold up the scored edge, and measure the side of the folded paper at 18.5cm’s in and then score. Do this again for the other side also. This way you have the correct measurement for the lid. Because the sides of the lid are going to be shorter than the base, you will be cutting off some of the DS paper, on two sides.

 

Step 8:Cut up the corners (like the base) and put the lid together. Again make a stiff cardboard base covered with co-ordinating DS paper and tape in. This really helps the lid not to be flimsy.

 

Step 9:

 

Put the lid onto the base box, and close the lid, with ribbon. Tie it off so that is looks pretty

 

Step 10:

 

Decorate your box with a co-ordinating tag

I made this one with a little baby jumpsuit inside for my sister- in- law who is expecting a baby. I have used the Spring Fling papers and the wide Celery Ribbon. The giraffe stamp is from the Wild about you stamp set from Stampin’Up!

 

 

 

And for this one I used the Holiday Harmony papers, Pomegranite satin ribbon, and the Season of joy stamp set.

 

I think these would look Fabulous under the Christmas tree J
