Some Sketch Fun….

Hey all,

wowza, where is this week going? I was lucky enough to sit and stamp on Sunday night as I was nursing me ear infection and I can hardly believe it has taken me till Friday to get a post up, and show you what I made! Anyhoo, that is just how life goes sometimes. I need to get into a new routine for taking the photo shots. As of yet, I am still look for the perfect place that has great lighting and that I don’t have to set up every single time I want to photograph something I have made.  Because of the mountain right behind us, the best light is in the afternoon, but then I am usually doing homework with the kids, and getting dinner started. I will have spend some time thinking about this one :)

Anyway, i have had some sketch fun this week, and here is what i got up to:

First off I did Taylor’s sketch. I am not really enamoured with this one, it is an average creations, but hey i tend to always have that when I sit down to the stamp, the first creation I make is always just average……do you get that too? or is it just me?

Here it is…..you be the judge!

For this card I have used the Nook and Pantry DSP from Basic Grey, and Taylor’s own stamp set called, “For the love of cupcakes” The ribbon and punch outs are from Stampin’Up.

Next off I made a fun creation using Jen Delmuro’s sketch for you to try:

I LURVE these wee cute turtle tots from Stampingbella. I have used some My minds eye DSP, along with the red spotty ribbon from Stampin’Up.

Next up I stamped this cutie for the All that scraps dots and stripes challenge and I used Splitcoaststampers sketch for the week. I love this stamps and always have a blast colouring it in with my Copic markers. The DSP is from the Love Sparkles scrapbooking kit from Stampin’Up.

and here is a close up:

AND then the lucky last is a masculine card i made using the colour challenge from Splitcoaststampers from this past week. The colours were Basic grey, Crushed curry, Always artichoke and a Neutral colour. Definitely a different mix and this is what I came up with:

So yeah i have been doing a little stamping, and WOW it feels sooooo good! Each day I am itching to get back into my new stamp room and pull out the ink and rubber. Talking of my new stamp room, I took some pictures so that you can have a little look see of where I am when i create. It is perfect for what I need, and I am just using a hodgepodge of furniture (ie a trestle table and old computer desk) at the moment until we get the house built and I can go back to having custom build cabinets etc…. I had that at the last place, but because it was built in, I had to leave it behind….. :( Ah well I am sure at the new house that we will build I will have a fabulous set up, and with a view too!

Here is my new room…..

This is from the doorway….

My computer desk with my brand new puter, whom I have named Maisie Mac….

My converted book shelves that now house my stamps and ribbon…..

My paper and punch storage! I had built in filing cabinets drawers in my old craft desk so I had to find a new way to store my file folders of cardstock. The day we moved we had a Corona beer box and I discovered that the file folders fitted perfectly! So what did I do? Went out and bought two new cases of beer for the boxes….(okay I confess to having drunk a few of the boxes contents to……but only a few, I promise! :)

So there you go, now you can visualize where I am at when I stamp and sing along to my iPod with my mug of tea.

I will be back with the Challenge winner, and new post for ya in a bit….

Ciao,

Love Keesh

Sketch three….

Hey there,

I hope you are all having a good start to the week! How fast did that weekend go? I enjoyed Saturday, and my Bella Blog Hop, but wow, I haven’t seem my in-box that full ever! 133 comments, and it was well overflowing. But that is a nice thing, I mean who doesn’t love a little comment love now and then right?

So I have been playing with a few sketches this past week…..I am a total challenge junkie! There are so many wonderful ones out there, I just wish I had time to sit and play with them all!

This weekend I worked on the Mojo Monday, Beate’s and Taylor’s Sketch, and whilst each of them where a little different, I was happy with the end result.

First off the Mojo Mondaysketch from last week. Funny thing was that I showed this card to my hubby Rod, and he goes, “Oh that is a real barn like card!” I then said, you mean rustic? Oh yeah that is what it is, he says. But then he goes on to say, “It has far too much bling if you ask me” ……Who even knew that he knew what the word bling was…..LOL! Well I have to give it to him, he is definitely learning the stamping lingo :)

So here first of is my “barn-like” creation:

For this one, I have used Teal, Vanilla, Mustard and Chocolate cardstock from Stampin’Up. The DSP is from My mind’s eye on the base. The stamp sets I have used is from Verve stamps, (the flowers) and the greeting is from the Wonderful Favourites stamp set from Stampin’Up. I have used some chocolate wide stitched ribbon and twine, along with large chocolate brads for embellishments.

Next off I made this creation for Beate’s sketch this week. At first I had no idea what to do for this one! You have to check out the sketch and you will know what I mean :)

For this creation I have used Bordering blue cardstock, and the Bella Bleau DSP both from Stampin’Up. The flower I created by stamping onto the dsp and then cutting 3 of them out and layered them on top of each other. I have dressed it up with a build a brad with a large half pearl in the centre. The detail at the top is the Eyelet border punch, and a strip of Kraft cardstock dressed up with some small half pearls. And last of all the ribbon is Vanilla taffeta ribbon from Stampin’Up and the greeting from Papertrey’s mega mixed messages stamp set stamped in Stazon ink.

Then last of all I made this creation with Taylor’s Sketch. I would never normally do a greeting cut up like that, but that is the good thing about challenges……they get you out of your comfort zone!

I have used Rose red cardstock, and the DSP is from Basic greys nook and pantry (cupcakes), and My minds eye (pink spotty). I have used Taylor’s, For the love of cupcakes stamp set for the cute cuppies. I coloured them in with my Copic markers, and dressed them up with a button each. The greeting is the Sweet little sentiments stamp set from Stampin’Up. I have also added some pink taffeta ribbon.

Thanks to Mojo, Beate, and Taylor for keeping me challenged and inspired over the weekend!

Have a great night!

Finally some stamping!

I just LOVE school holidays! Don’t you? It is just wonderful to take the day a little easier, and not to be watching the clock constantly, so you don’t forget to pick the kids up from school etc…… We have had fun so far, which is great, and I am really looking forward to the next 2 weeks of chilling with the kids.

The other great thing, is that I have managed to stamp a little too. I have to say I am a little overwhelmed with all my new goodies, and have found myself fumbling around, not knowing where to start with all it’s lusciousness!

To make it easier, I thought I would do last weeks challenges over on Splitcoast stampers, so I had a bit of direction on what to make etc….

So on Monday it is a “Try a new technique” challenge, and this past week, it was to make a flower pot card. I have never seen one of these before, but it was rather fun, and certainly makes for one of those “different” cards that you like to do now and then for a special occasion.

I thought my first creation I show you from the new catty should be the new In colours!!! I have stamped up the flowers with all the new Incolours - Riding hood red, Baja blue, Pacific point, Tangerine tango, Pink pirouette, Kiwi kiss ( don’t you just love those names!) I have then created the flower pot, and stamped the outside with the Sanded background stamp, and topped it off with some new Pacific point strip ribbon.

You attached the flowers and leaves to a bookmark shape of cardstock, and that is what slips into the flower pot, with the flowers popping up at the top……. Cute hey!

Next I worked on the colour challenge, which was Close to cocoa, So saffron, and Bashful blue. I really didn’t know where to begin with this one, but just knew I wanted to ink up my Owl together now stamp set.

As you can see I have used the colour challenge colours, and some whisper white cardstock. I stamped my little owl with Chocolate chip ink, and coloured him in, then cut him out and mounted him onto the hanging branch. The greeting is from the same stamp set, which I have layered up with my scallop and circle punches.  Lastly I added the paper piercing, chocolate ribbon, and the Bashful blue brads in a row.

And last of all I had a play with the Sketch challenge from last week as well.

Here is the sketch:

And my stamped creation:

Another stamp set I have been dying to play with is this one called Friends 24/7. It is rustic and it is just beautiful! I have used Not quite navy for the card base, and added a wide strip of the Bella Bleau DSP, which of course is new, and beautiful! I scallop edged one side. I have then used Kraft cardstock for the other square which I stamped with the Damask stamp with Versamark. Lastly I stamped up the wee gorgeous bird with Chocolate ink, and added some spritz with my spritzer, and some watercolouring for effect. I have then distressed the edges for a more rustic feel. Lastly I added the antique brass brads, and the Kraft taffeta ribbon, with a tag tied to it with twine. The greeting is from the same stamp set.

I have a couple more things to show you too, but I am about to head off for a quick nanna nap because I have had two VERY LATE nights, and I want to be nice a cheery for my downline that are coming over tonight!

Talk soon!

A couple of Splitcoast Challenges……

Hi ya!

WOW 2 days since I was on here, and I am still wondering where those days went! I have been busy with having guests over the past 2 days, and preparing from Elijah’s birthday (today) so yeah things have been busy. I did get to stamp on Sunday night though and catch up on some challenges etc…..

So like I have mentioned previously I hope to do more of the Splitcoast Challenges each week, and well I managed two from last week, the colour and the sketch :)

The colour challenge, was just that…….. A CHALLENGE! You know why??? Because it had that revolting Summer Sun in there!!! Yikes!

So the colours where, Kraft, Riding hood red, Summer sun, and Optional black. Hooley Dooley, what to do with those colours. But I was determined to have a go at it.

Here is what I came up with:

I had to paint this little guy before he is gone, because he is on the retirement list!!! I was trying to create a Robin red-breast, but don’t know if I succeeded too well :)

I have used Kraft for the base and stamped it with the Sanded background stamp with Sahara sand ink. The strip is Riding hood red cardstock with a very thin strip of the Summer sun on the side. I rolled it with the Watercolour vine jumbo roller, and distressed the edges.  Then I added the Black grosgrain ribbon with some pewter Hodegepodege Hardware.

I have then stamped up my birdie, with Stazon ink, onto watercolour paper, and painted him with my Aquapainter, and stamp pads. I stamped the word hope from the little background stamp from the set onto Riding hood red cardstock and cut the letters out. Lastly I sptitzed with my spritzer tool, and added the two black brads at the bottom onto some 1/8″ cirlce punches of Riding hood red cardstock.

So that is the colour challenge, and here was the Sketch for this week:

And my card:

I LOVE this stamp set, and will be very sad to see it go! I have used 5 strips of the Spring Fling DSP paper packs, which are 1 inch wide. I have then paper pierced the outer perimeter.

I have then stamped the main stamp with Stazon ink and coloured the inside of the letter with my Regal rose Stampin’ write marker and then I blinged it up dazzling diamonds glitter. I paper pierced the body suit with the pink spotty  paper. Again I have scallop edge punch the bottom of the white cardstock. Lastly I added some pink taffeta ribbon tied off at the side.

So there you have the challenges that I managed for this week.

Take care!

Beate’s weekend Sketch hosted by Sharon Harnist

Okay here is another quick sketch challenge I did on the weekend!

Beate
has started the  Weekend sketch challenges again, but has some of her sketch team host each week to lighten the load. This week the hostess is Sharon Harnist from Paperfections!

So here is Sharons Sketch for this weekend:

This simple sketch is open to all sorts of interpretation!

Here is what I created:

I have loved the My Favourite things “Who’s that girl” stamps for like forever! I finally splurged and bought a couple! I had fun with this one! I need to work a little harder on my colouring though. It is the first time I have used, it and I was so bummed that it went out of the lines in two places……I could cry!

Anyway I have used Not quite navy as the card base that I stamped with the Polka dot background in the same colour ink. I have used a small strip of spotty of Pretty in pink DSP from Stampin’Up’s Spring Fling paper pack. I stamped the image which is called How sweet it is  with my Stazon ink pad onto Stampin’Up’s Watercolour paper, and then coloured it with my Aquapainter, and ink pads.

I then added a strip of pink taffeta ribbon, and some large Prima flowers which i have placed a rhinestone brad in the centre as well. Lastly the greeting is from the same stamp set, and I have embossed it with white embossing powder.

So there you have that one too! I will have the Make it Monday up later tonight for you all.

Have a good night!
