Amy’s Sketch # 44

 Hey again!

Well it certainly appears I am making up for lack of posts this week, with 3 today! I have to quickly get this up, because the kids are needing bathed, and fed…..etc….

This week I managed to participate in Amy’s sketch Challenge. YAY! I love Amy’s sketches because they can always be so easily adapted to a Scrapbook page, which is such a bonus!

Okay so here is Amy’s sketch for the past week:

Love this one! Here is what I put together:

Firstly I wanted to start with a masculine card, because they are often hard to put together. I have used the Lovely as a tree stamp set, and weathered background stamp. The DS paper is from the Apple cider pack, and I have used the earth elements buttons. I stamped up my tree with my markers, (choc chip, really rust, and pumpkin pie) and used my spritzer tool to get the splotches. I have used my sanding block, and cutter kit to rough up all the edges.

Seeing Christmas is nearly upon us…..again. I wanted to get working on some cards! I have used the Wintergreen DS paper pack, and the Season of joy stamp set from Stampin’Up. I added the rhinestone brads, and glitter for bling. The base cardstock is Artichoke.

Don’t you just love those cute freckles!!!!!……..

So like I said Amy’s Sketches work great for Scrapbooking, so I just had to make one didn’t I???!!!! I have used Basic grey cardstock, and the DS paper is from the Spring Break pack from Stampin’Up. I added lots of paper piercing for effect and to create borders, and added 3 jumbo eyelets in Antique Brass. Lastly I added the greeting which is from the True Friend stamp set, but I inked it up with my markers, eliminating the “thank” and then I added the word Love from the Basic phrases stamp set. I cut it out and mounted it with dimensionals.

So there you have it……I have to fly, but I will be back over the weekend…..talking of weekend…..have yourself a FAB-O one!

Talk soon!

Challenge round-up and a newbie :)

 Hi again,

Well once again I have had fun looking at everyone’s entries for the Colour Challenge! It is interesting to hear the responses to my mix-up this time!!! Some of you doubted me, and some of you decided it wasn’t to bad after all…:)

I have chosen a winner from the ESAD-SU group which is for Demonstrators, and I run the weekly challenges for, but I have also chosen a winner for someone who isn’t on the group, because her card is just too cute!

Here is the winning entry by Carol.

Cute hey! You can see more of Carol’s work at www.inkantations-and-inkarnations.blogspot.com

And I just had to show you this gorgeous card by Zarna as well……very creative!

Isn’t that th cutest cupcake! This would make a fabulous Birthday invite! You can see more of Zarna’s work at www.zarnasworld.blogspot.com so pop in and say hello!

The other entries were all great too, and like I said I am proud of those that got out of their comfort zone and had a play with this colour challenge!

Ok so you ready for the next Challenge?

I have decided to go with a sketch challenge for this week. They make stamping so much easier! Here is my sketch I had put together…..do you like it?

All you have to do is follow the sketch, for your card, or project. You don’t have to be super pedantic, but it should generally resemble the sketch.

Here are my samples for you:

For this card I have used the Scribble this stamp set from Stampin’Up! I used Purely pomegranite for the base, and have added the satin ribbon for one strip, and some DS paper from the Holiday Harmony paper pack from Stampin’Up! as the other. I stamped the flower onto some of the paper and cut it out to get the pattern in the backgroud and then mounted them one upon the other to get the depth. I cut the two circles with my Creative Memories cutters, and distressed the edges with my cutter kit from Stampin’Up! The little greeting is from the Occasional Greetings stamp set which i stamped with Whisper white stamp pad.

It is a bit hard to photograph this card because it is cut out in the centre. I placed all the little circles whole onto the cardstock base first and then cut out the centre which left a little of them behind, to create that scallop around the front window.

Here is what it looks like in the centre of the card:

I have layered the bird up by cutting it out and mounting it with dimensionals. I also paper pierced around the circle

And here is the front of the card, when I hold it closed with my hands:

I have used the Always stamp set, with Groovy guava, Blue Bayou, and Soft Sky cardstock and DS papers. I have also used the guava double stitched ribon, and vanilla half pearls for embellishment.

Then last of all I made a scrapbook page:

Bayou again….but it matches so nicely.  I used textured cardstock to begin with. I added the strips which are from the Spring Break, and Spring Fling paper pack from Stampin’Up! On the celery strip I also added a small strip of Soft sky cardstock, layered with the Blue Bayou double stitched ribbon tied into a bow. I have cut the flower and double mounted it with the other cardstock, I have also punched out 1″ circles, and mounted the to the underside to create the scalloped edge around the circles. I have cut out two flowers from the Spring break paper, and then mounted them onto cardstock, to get the coloured border, finally adding some glitter for effect. I mounted these with dimensionals, and have lastly added the paper piercing around the whole outer border of the page.

So there you have my samples. I hope you like them :) I really look forward to seeing your creations, and hope you have a great weekend!

Kristina’s Colour Challenge # 28

Published by Makeesha under Scrapbooking

 Hi again,

I have to be super quick because I have my wonderful team coming over tonight to stamp and catch up again for the month. But I really wanted to get this posted before the cut off.

Kristina’s colours this time were different, but quite good to work with…..well I am happy with what I managed to come up with.

Here is the color inpiration piece:

And here is what I came up with:

Remember these cute slip cards we made at the Stamp a thon? I thought I could work with that template again. I have used Pumpkin pie for the base, then layered with Ruby red. I have then added a strip of DS paper from Stampin’Up’s Spring Break paper pack. Along the bottom I have place a slit punch, and then paper pierced a border all the way around. Next I took a piece of Whisper white cardstock, and spiral punched the side and added a round tab punch of Ruby red cardstock at the top adhering it with a staple. I made a belly band for the centre using Ruby red cardstock, pumpkin pie DS paper from Stampin’Up’s Spring break pack, and I then added a small strip in the centre, with a little strip of Black gingham ribbon in the centre, to match the inspiration image. Lastly I stamped the image which I have coloured up using my markers to get the two different colours, and i placed a pumpkin rhinestone brad in the center. I have also added a row of Ruby red brads along the bottom.

Then I thought “Hey these would make great colours for a masculine card!” …..so just had to try that as well.

Here is my card:

Isn’t he the cutest little fish!!! I just have to give you a close up!

For this card I have used Sage shadow for the base which is stamped ramdomly with the circular stamp from the Priceless stamp set with Sage ink. I made the strip with Ruby red cardstock, and layered it with spotty Pumpki pie paper from the DS paper prints pack, adding some twine at the bottom.

I have then stamped my fish from Stampin’Up’s Fishy friends stamp set with Stazon ink onto Watercolour paper. I have coloured him in with my aquapainter, and stamp pads. I made the circular greetings with my punches, and the Think Happy thoughts stamp set. And lastly I added a spiral punch to the bottom right hand side.

Oh better fly that was a knock at the door!

What a Weekend!

Published by Makeesha under Scrapbooking

 Hi everyone!

I hope you are all having a great Monday……well as great as Mondays can be!

Me, I’m trying to recover from one full on weekend. It was great though, but my bed is certainly where I will be very early tonight.

One friday we could spend a wonderfully late evening with friends which turned left us a little sleep deprived. I was awoken to the kids at a bright 6am. I ventured downstairs to firstly give them a nice mug of warm hot chocolate……and ended up with a nasty burn on my wrist! Just a matter of bad timing. I was pouring the just boiled water into the mugs, when my DD 2 and DS 5, decided to have a squable and shove me only to direct the water to pour over my wrist. Talk about pain!!! Not a great way to start the day.

Thankfully I managed to get it straight under the water, and smothered with Aloe Vera. Dr Richard, a good friend of ours, just happened to be coming over that very morning at 8am so I managed to get him to look at it and wrap it etc….Don’t you just hate burns!! They hurt like crazy………

But Saturday was also a very special day because it was Monnie Moo’s Birthday!!! the big…..29. Oh I remember turning 29, and you realize the big 3-0 is just around the corner…..eeK! A group of us got together for Breakfast at the Dome cafe, which was so nice and relaxing.

I did make her a card, and whilst it isn’t exactly what I have invisioned when I started, Mon liked,……or so she said!

So for this card I have used Regal Rose for the base, and stamped the background with the Linen background stamp. I have then layered Chocolate chip, Rose red, and Regal rose cardstock. The greeting which is from Occasional Greetings stamp set from Stampin’Up! I have stamped with Regal rose ink, onto whisper white cardstock. I then have loaded colour with my markers (artichoke, regal rose, & rose red) onto the flower stem stamp that is from the True friend stamp set. I have then cut it out, blinged it up with some glitter and twine and mounted it with Dimensionals. Lastly I added a small strip of DS paper from the Rose Red Designer Prints pack from Stampin’Up!, and a pretty in pink button, and paper piercing in the corner.

I love that True Friend stamp set, but really haven’t used it as much as I could have. I am definitely going to have to pull that out soon, before it is gone when the Mini Catty finishes.

So after breakfast I headed to my trusty web guy’s house for some fine tuning on the my new website, and by the look of my comments box, you are all loving the new look! Thanks for all the lovely comments, and it is sooooooo good to see some of you come out of lurkdom to say hello. Please come back again, and be a stranger no more!

Saturday night was the evening when Day light Savings kicked in here in Perth. I am not a big fan of DLS, and really hope that it gets voted against at the end of the summer. We went out to a enjoy a wonderful evening with Ngaire and Donald…..it was so great, and the guys have really become good friends after the Incentive Trip….which is so cool! The thing was, we stayed till almost 12pm, before we left for the 50 minute treck home…arriving just before 1am, BUT we still had to bring the clock forward and hour, so it was really 2am!

What a rude shock it was to get up early to head out for church by 9am with 4 kids in tow,….I struggled to keep my eyes open! Thankfully a good afternoon sleep helped wonderfully.

An afternoon sleep is great, unless it stops you sleeping at night, which is what happened to me! I hate that. I was up till 4am this morning unable to sleep. I ended up getting out at 3am, because my head was buzzing and I needed to write lists! I tell ya 5 pages later I headed back. I have everything sorted for Christmas now!!! Oh too funny. When I finally did fall asleep the alarm went off 1.5 hours later to get up for my walk with Monnie Moo I was knackered! The walk was good, except for being stalked by a very BIG Kangaroo, which had me freaked and Mon, laughing at me!

What a weekend and what a day! I really hope I have a more settled week this week, because I am knackered!

Be back soon for the Make it Monday……and I think you might like this one!

Challenges all round….

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Scrapbooking

Hey again!

Well I am sure you are keen to know what the new challenge will be for this week…..not to mention find out who I picked for top card this week!

So once again it was hard, but I just loved this card by Mandy Schiller! Her take on an “femenine Bronc Buster” was really outside the box, and I love it! Go check out Mandy’s Blog at www.mandyschiller.blogspot.com

Here is her creation:

Zarna - www.zarnasworld.blogspot.com

Ange - www.angeliquekelly.blogspot.com

 So for the next Challenge……….

I thought it was about time for a Colour Challenge again, and decided on the following colours….

Soft sky

Pumpkin pie

Basic grey

Regal rose

Whisper white

Yes these colours work together……something a little different, but I like it, how about you?

Here are my samples for you:

img_2327-custom.JPG

Do you like? I have created the petals by stamping the ouline stamp from Pick a Petal stamp set from Stampin’Up with Basic grey ink onto some Pumpkin pie DS paper. I then cut the petals out, and mounted them onto Regal rose cardstock and cut that out so that they had a nice border. I then added some bling with my 2-way glue pen and dazzling diamonds glitter. The rest is pretty easy to work out etc…. but if you have questions just ask.

Next I created this Scrapbook page of my daughter Tiarne. I created the flower using the Fabulous Flowers stamp set, by stamping it onto the Soft sky, Pumpkin pie, and Regal rose cardstock with Versamark and embossing it with white embossing powder. I cut them out and layered them, placing  a pink rhinestone brad in the centre. I paper pierced a border around the Soft sky cardstock. and lastly added the ribbon, brackets made with the large oval punches, and used the sprial punch on the pumpkin DS paper.

Then last of all I made this little Love note:

img_2322-custom.JPG

For this little one, I have used all the coloured cardstock, and the One of a kind stamp set. I used paper piercing, pumpkin DS paper and some Soft sky double stitched ribbon and a pumpkin rhinestone brad for embellishment.

I soooooooo hope you can play along this week, and i totally can’t wait to see your creations!

Have a great weekend everyone!
