A year at a glance….

Published by Makeesha under Chitchat with Keesh, Family

Hey peeps….

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you! I really was hoping to get to this post earlier than this, but boom the time is going by SO quickly! School holidays sure keep me busy…yep I feed the troops, then clean-up,…..two hours pass… I feed the troops, then clean -up… then repeat that pattern several times a day and vroom the day is GONE! I admit I might get to have a dip in the pool in there amongst all that…oh and a smidge of time on Pinterest fits in there too, but hey you get the picture…. the poor old Blog-o just gets neglected once again!

Seriously though as much as i love ya, it has been great to have a blogging break and to get inspired for the New year too. Besides, i am sure you are doing far more enjoyable things over the summer holidays than blog surfing! You are probably out at the beach, or sitting by the pool drinking MaiTai’s …. or if you are on the other side of the continent, snuggled up in front of the fire devouring a book…whichever it is, you surely haven’t missed lil ol’ me.

Okay, so I confess to not being a huge big New Year celebrator. I don’t tend to set resolutions, but rather do set some goals. I think that can be healthy as long as they are realistic.

The other thing about a New year is that I tend to be a little reflective about the year gone….WOW what a year we have just had…. yes it is starting to wear us a little thin, and we have gone into the new year rather weary, but have a read and i think you will see why….

  • Mum & Dad arrive to spend Christmas and New years with us….
Phew….i have still got ya, or did you get lost back up there at Mr Jo being born??
Yes it sure was a lot to fit into one year, and these are just all the big events, it doesn’t include the mundane like laundry, groceries, meal planning/making, paying bills, dropping off, picking up… yadda, yadda! In a nutshell it has been one crazy year! Having said that, i am still amazed at God’s continual care, and provision in ALL THINGS! He is so good, sooo very good to us that i am truly humbled.
So what is in store for the new year? umm whilst we desperately want to be saying, it will be much quieter, for the time being we are still FLAT OUT with the house building. My poor hubby is up at the house at all the odd hours, working full time by day, and tiling, laying timber floors, and painting by night! Even i have been whipping out the old daggy painting clothes and getting my fingernails dirty! We have a little ways to go yet, but we do have a move in date, which is the 20th of Feb, and then it will be onto the outside, like the retaining walls, the pool, fences and the driveway etc… I hate to whinge about it, but it is actually wearing us both quite thin… but everyone that has told me they have built a house, says that it will all be worth it in the long run…. so just trusting that it will and that we will survive in the meantime.
THEN….onto much brighter and fun things! I am really hoping to dig out the sewing machine this year, as there are just too many darn cute things on Pinterest that i am just dying to sew! Then do some more work on learning all there is to know about Photoshop…. And i really want to start teaching my kids to cook, some dinner meals. There will be all the fun adventures with our little man Mr Jo as he learns to walk and talk. As for the blog-o, it is on it’s way to being updated, which i am excited about, and hopefully once we have moved into the house, i will have much more time to stamp and share the things in my life that i love! Really excited about that.
So many many good things to look forward too, which is a real blessing! We sure live a joyfull yet FULL life!
So with all that I wanted to just share with you a couple of photos… some of the house, Tiarne’s graduation and of course the little man and how he has grown SO much since the last photos i shared with you!
Okay so first up we have Tiarne all beautifully dressed for her Year 6 Graduation! I can hardly believe she is off to High School this year!!! She is excited but a little nervous…
Mr Jo, at 6months old…..
Mr Curly Tops!
He sure is the Little Brother….of 4!
one serious little cutie pops!
Okay so next up are a few shots of the house…. It isn’t finished like i said, and there is no point me showing you photos of a tiled floor in the bathroom, so have kept it pretty brief :)
The front of the house as of today…. We still need to add the front porch and paint the contrasting panels on the front of the house and the garage doors underneath the house, and the stairs up to the front door, and the deck lining.. the list goes on and on!
Now this is the view from my front door, and the pool area…
Inside the main living area, which goes out through the bi-fold doors to the deck area…
and this is the view from the centre section of the deck….
So that is just a few photos. I promise to share more when they are far more exciting… like the kitchen is in, and the timber floors are down etc…. but at least you get a bit of an idea of where we are at as far as progress goes!
Okay my darling peeps, this post has taken me a long time, and i am sure a long time for you to have read as well! It feels good to get you all up to date though on what and where we are all. I really appreciate you faithful readers out there, especially when i just haven’t had the opportunity to stamp, and share as much as i have done in the past. Let’s hope that in the months ahead that will all change!
Enjoy your weekend!

Bryn & Kate’s Wedding Day…..

Published by Makeesha under Family

Hey there my gorgeous peeps!

Well i can hardly believe we have been back for two weeks and i am only just getting this post up. Time sure is zooming by and whilst i was thinking things would slow down once we got back from all our travelling, it has still been busy as ever. We have needed to pick all the tiles and cupboard colours and what not for the new house and of course get the kids settled back in. I have come to realise that there really is no such thing as things being quiet….hahahaha…. well especially with 5 kids! All good though, and just hoping i have enough energy to keep going :)

So more about our trip! We flew first to Brisbane and then to LA, and then to Washington….boy oh boy was that a long and very tiring trip! I have to say that the kids did amazingly considering… they are such troopers. We had the wonderful pleasure of spending some time with Bryn and Kate for a few days before all the other out of town guests arrived. It was a the perfect opportunity to help them with the final plans for the wedding. Rod did gardening, as the wedding was at Kate’s parents property, and i did errands with Kate etc… it worked out so well. Here are just a few photos of the kids with some of Kate’s animals….

Tiarne with Molly the horse…

Mr Jo meeting the donkeys…

Once most of the out of town guests arrived Bryn & Kate hosted a Rehearsal dinner for everyone. It was a Aussie / US BBQ….so prawns and ribs, along with a band, and trap shooting! What a fabulous night. We took lots of photos, but i won’t bore you with them all, and just show you a few of the ones of family…

Kate with the boys…..

Rod and I……

My mum with Mr.Jo

My spunky brother Bryn and I….

Bryn with Janaya…..

So the Rehearsal dinner was on the Thursday night, and then on the Friday there was a Bridal Shower. Typically it is hosted by the Bride’s Grandmother. So Terri (Kate’s grandmother) hosted it at a little local restaurant on the Friday lunch time. It was so special to have all the close friends and aunties there for an ladies luncheon. I took lots of photos once again, and just narrowed it down to two to share….

Kate with her mom….

Kate and I together…..

Friday night we had the real rehearsal at Kate’s property in preparation to the BIG DAY the next day. Janaya and Mali along with myself were in the Bridal party, so we were all there getting the instructions. Once again it was a really lovely night!

THE BIG DAY!

So here at last was the big day, the day we travelled 33+ hours to be there for! It was SO hard to narrow down the photos for you, so i have just picked out my favourites for you to see…..

Bryn and our Dad…

Bryn with his Groomsmen…

The Bridesmaids, Bride and Mother of the Bride before the ceremony….

Janaya and Malakai walking down the aisle…

My turn….

The Bride and her parents…. her dad was so emotional and cried the whole way down the aisle…

The Bride and Groom….

Mum doing her reading during the service…

The kiss….

Inside the Marquee…

Hottie Hubs and me….

Mali…

Us all doing a speech and Acroptic poem for Bryn & Kate….

Bridal Waltz & Kate getting emotional…

Another shot of the Hottie Hubs…

nnnaaawww… Mr Jo in his suit….

…and again :)

Here is is with daddy….

Sadly i didn’t get any pics of Tiarne and Elijah on my camera, but hopefully the professional photographer will have some!

SOOOOO… the day after the wedding we stayed in at the hotel so we could relax and catch our breath again. The kids went swimming in the hotel pool and i slept lots!

Monday we drove up to Philadelphia and had a tour at Yards Brewery where Bryn was working the past 9 months….

Then that night Kate had her University Graduation night at the Sheraton. One of her friends gave her his spare tickets so i have very very blessed to be able to go along! That sure was special. Then next day as other went to Atlantic City we decided to head to Lancaster Pennsylvania the home of the Amish. Seeing as i had read a lot about them in novels it was pretty special to check it out. Very different to what i was expecting, but great to see them out in their Horse and Buggies!

Definitely a fabulous day out and about in the Country side. On Wednesday we drove down to Annapolis which is the capital of Maryland. It is on the coast and really reminded me of Fremantle. It also has the US Naval Academy there which we toured…FABULOUS! Such a gorgeous place and a place i would love to go back to one day. The next morning we drove up to Washington DC, and did some touring around. We went to the Smithonian Museum, the Lincoln Memorial, The monument, and the Jefferson Memorial and of course saw the White House as well. What a fabulous place this was too!

Bryn & Kate in front of the White House….

Us as a family in front of the Monument….

Me with Mr Jo…

Mr Jo with Bryn, whom he is named after! (love this shot!)…

Then with Kate….

The next morning we had to say our very very sad goodbyes to Bryn and Kate as they were heading to Las Vegas with some friends :( Always so hard to say goodbye! Anyway after that we drove up to Baltimore and took the kids to the Baltimore National Aquarium, which was fabulous! On Saturday morning we drove out to the Eastern Shore to where Kate’s parents have a holiday house in Neavitt. There was an Outlet shopping Centre on the way so of course we had to make the most of that too!

Kate’s parents house in Neavitt… and that is the beast we drove around in for the two weeks.. i miss this car, it was fabulous!

Neavitt is on the water so here is another shot of the waterfront at the back of their house….

Beautiful….

Then last of all a shot of Mr Jo in his pram which he pretty much lived in for the two whole weeks! He was such an amazing baby on the trip considering he had no routine and what not! So blessed!

So people there is a snippet of our trip. That sure was a lot of photos, and i hope i haven’t bored you silly with them all. It was hard to cut them down and not show you them all! As you can see it was a pretty whirlwind trip, but such a HUGE blessing that we could all be there for the wedding together.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

A winner, a wedding, and a rollercoaster….

Published by Makeesha under Chitchat with Keesh, Family

WHAT? …i hear ya say!

Yup that just about sums up my life at the moment!

Do you ever feel as though your life is on a HUGE Rollercoaster ride and you are desperatley wanting to get off? Not that i want out of my life….certainly not, rather that is is ZOOMING by at lightning speed and you just can’t seem to slow it down. I think if i shared all that had been going on lately i would completely and utterly make you dizzy! I am so thankful for God’s grace and strength that is getting me there, a little bit further each day! I can appreciate that you would be really dissapointed with my lack of posts of late…. believe me it isn’t because of a lack of interest, but purely a lack of time! Babies, building, weddings, travelling, is all taking up so much of my time at the moment. BUT i am hoping that in about 4 weeks time things will have settled down considerably and there might just be some time for crafting again!

So last week i had a sale….some of you snapped up some bargains! It was great to off load some of my well loved stamps and find them a new home! I do have a few sets left on the list, so check it out… i would still love to hear from you.

Now onto the winner of my hamper….I numbered each purchaser, and then pulled a number using Random.org and the lucky winner is…….drum roll please!

ANNE EDWARDS!

Big Congratulations Anne. I will have your parcel into the post by tomorrow!

Now onto more exciting news….Recently i shared with you that i was heading back to Perth for my dear friend Monique’s Wedding Day and that i had the honour of being her Bridesmaid! Well that is where i have been this past week…..A whirlwind week back in Perth with my Mr. Jo too. Hubby arrived the night before the wedding so it was lovely to have him there as well. Monique and Frank had a LOVELY day! The sun was shining, the Bride looked amazing, and there was lots of fun to be had by the bridal party too.

I thought i’d share some of the photos of the day for you to see how lovely it was….

Here we are just after the Wedding Ceremony….

And with our dear friend Louise Ryan…

The Bride & Groom…

true love…..

snuggling up with the other Bridesmaids trying to get warm…

At the reception….

With my hubby Rod…

All four of us together….

As you can see it was a truly beautiful and special day!

Well it is now only 8 days until we leave for the USA for my brother’s wedding! I have an obscene “to-do” list to get through between now and then, but i am starting to get excited for the big day! I will be sure to share lots of photos of our trip with you all, and will keep you posted.

Thanks peeps, and i will see you all again tomorrow for the next challenge….

Kitchen Tea invites….

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Family

Hello my stamping friends….

You have probably been wondering where i got up to huh? Well I’m sad to say that i have been completely under the weather, and too sick to stamp. I was hoping to play along with the challenge, but nope i was far too sick for that :( I ended up with a really nasty gastro bug, and also a bladder infection, so that sure was not much fun. Thankfully i am feeling much better now :) My poor boys have a nasty flu at the moment though, so I am really hoping i don’t get that! It sure is the season for winter lurgies at the moment.

So back to stamping….The weekend before last i did a very quick and surprise visit back to Perth to attend the Kitchen Tea of my dear friend Monnie who is getting married in a couple of weeks :) I have the honour of being a Bridesmaid so it was extra special to be there. The best part was that she didn’t know anything about the Kitchen Tea, or that i would be there…..SO much fun to spring people. It was also my bestie’s birthday the day before, so it was great to spring her too on the morning of…Lots of fun.

Anyway i had the pleasure of making all the Kitchen Tea invites and thought I’d share what i made with you all…..

Of course the teapot set from PTI, was the perfect set for these :) We made all the items, table decorations, and hanging decorations all in the same colour scheme…..it was very pretty if i say so myself.

Our house is getting up off the ground, and we now have poles! Amazing that poles can excite, but they really do….So nice to see some progress, and i am very much looking forward to moving in one day. Mr Jo is still growing like a weed….yes believe me he is. Always smiling and a few giggles now and then.

Till next time peeps……take care!

A new sweet pea, and whole stack of personal updates….

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Family

howdy people,

Happy Saturday to you all! Phew another week done, and boy did it whiz by. I wish I could say i am not living in a constant brain fog, but that is a clear reality for me at the moment. All the sleep deprivation sure isn’t helping, but it is all worth it to see my lil man grow so well!

So this week the kids were still on school holidays (their 3rd week). I usually LOVE the school holidays, but i do confess to finding this set of holidays rather hard. It is very busy with 5 kids around and keeping them amused without the house turning into a bomb site :) and we actually had a week of rain too. The kids are now happy they could return to school this past thursday and i just savoured the silence… My darling hubby also ended up in hospital last week with a nasty case of Cellulitis….poor guy! Thankfully the intravenous antibiotics did the trick and it is healing well.

This morning we captured a couple of gorgeous shots of little Mr. Jo as he was having a bath. Handy that dad was home to get him on camera at last….you seriously have to remind yourself to take pictures as they grow so fast! Anyway you will see that he sure is eating in a good paddock, as he has GROWN so much. We had his paediatrican appointment this week and he is sitting on the 96% percentile line for his weight and height! I can’t believe he has grown 6.5cm’s in length in the past 6 weeks.

Anyway here is our little (or make that not so little) cherub…

All wrapped up after his bath….

Talking of little cherubs, my very dear friend Rita had a baby girl this week….a wee 5 pounder! I can hardly imagine that as my little man was almost 9 pounds! They called her Annie Rose. I so wish I could be in Perth to give her a wee cuddle. She has had a bit of difficulty breathing so has been in the humidi-crib since Tuesday night until she can breathe on her own. I made this little card for her…

I used the Baby Button Bits stamp set from PTI….(so love this set) to create her card with Regal rose and Pear pizazz cardstock from SU.

This past week it was my little guy Mali’s birthday. He turned 8! Boy does the time go fast. Last year he celebrated his birthday at the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. We couldn’t quite make his day as spectacular this year, but he still had a lovely day with some friends around after school for some cupcakes! Hey is such a little charmer as you will see on this photo, and a real softie, and still loves cuddles from his mumma bear.

Such a little charmer….

Now the other major thing that is happening around here is that we have finally started to build our house. Thankfully we rent the house that is right next door to our block. That way we can do lots of the work ourselves and be there for deliveries etc… Rod is building the house as an Owner Builder, so it is quite a bit of work behind the scenes to get quotes and line up all the contractors etc…. This past week the earth works were completed, so it helps to visualise things a little bit. Amazing how the land is so red and rich, and the view is breath taking…thought i would share a little photos with you so you can see what I am talking about…..Photos never quite give you the right depth, but you will get a brief idea of what I am talking about..

view from the right hand side of the block….

view from the left hand side of the block….

We so look forward to having our own place again, and to have our things out of storage too. And I can’t wait to start decorating and getting my stamp room set up too!

So with the baby, the house, birthdays, school holidays, hospital visits, and what not… we actually have also sold our pool business….phew! It was such a blessing and will lighten my load too, with not having to do all the paperwork, invoicing, tax etc….. each week. And it also frees Rod up a bit too. Still lots of work to pass all the info onto the new owners, but they are keen, so that is great!

Next on the agenda is my dear friend Monnie’s wedding in September. I have the honour of being one of her Bridesmaids, so we have been busy getting things planned for that….always lots to plan for… the kitchen tea, hen’s night, shoes, dresses, hair….! Monnie is so stylish, so it is sure to be a wonderful event!

And then talking of weddings…… We will be flying off in 10 weeks time to the USA for my brother Bryn’s wedding to his darling fiance Kate! We of course are very very excited about this special event. Bryn is my only sibling and so for our family it is quite special. We weren’t sure if all of us (ie, kids) were going to go, but we have managed to snag some reasonably priced tickets, and so i am most excited to have us all going together. I am sure we will get plenty of stares as we meander through the airports and also boarding the plane with 5 kids! It is a good thing that they are seasoned travellers after our big trip last year, as well as all being a year older will help too. Having to travel with a newborn sure will be a challenge though, so if you have done this before and have some tips to share, please do! :)

I again have the honour of being Bridesmaid for Bryn and Kate, which is so very exciting. I have a morning date with my runners these days so i can be nice and trim for these dresses! Anyway Kate and Bryn have just seen some of their Engagement photos, so i thought i would share some with you as they are just gorgeous!~ The photographer is from Baltimore, and wow her work is stunning. You can see her website here

Gorgeous huh? I can’t wait to see what the Wedding photos turn out like!

So as you can see (read) we have SO much going on right now…hence the very pure lack of posts on the Blog-o! I think back to the past where i would stamp and post everyday, as well as doing photo and video tutorials….where did i find the time to do that? I miss a lot of that, but in other ways it is also nice to focus on other areas in my life too. You kinda realise that there is so much that life can bring, and whilst stamping is a passion of mine, so are many other things too!….Oh and there are so many more things i can’t wait to try, and experience too…one thing at a time though.

Lastly today i have to share some sad news. (left this bit till last) Usually around this time of year, I announce the details for the fabulous Stamp-a-thon to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. This year we won’t be hosting the Stamp-a-thon.

There are several reasons…

1.Very Sadly, my dear friend Louise has been re-diagnosed with Breast Cancer, this time appearing in her lymph nodes in her chest and abdomen. She has been having Chemo for the past 2 months, and thankfully her doctor is very impressed with her results so far! YAY! Much to be thankful for. The road ahead will still be long and it is hard for her hubby and two young sons to see their loved wife and mother travel this road for the 3rd time. Louise though is amazingly positive and is handling this challenge with all the style and grace she has always had! This gal truly amazes me each and everyday!

2. Charmaine our other Stamp-a-thon co-planner is flying out to England on Monday to be with her very ill mother who has also been diagnosed with Cancer that is looking to be terminal :( I just hate the big Cancer word! Please keep Char in your prayers, as she has left with a one way ticket and we are not sure when she will be back again, and that she is given the strength she needs to care for her mum..

3. Well for me the reason is having a newborn is so much work and with everything else going on, ie the house and two weddings to plan for, it really would be too much to take on the Stamp-a-thon, especially as i would have to travel across the country to do it too.

Please don’t despair though we will still endeavour to do the Stamp-a-thon again as it is for such a worthy cause and one that is very dear to my heart. It will just have to be at another time that is more suitable for us (the organisers) and we will be sure to keep you updated as to when we plan the next event :) Thanks for your understanding on this too, we really appreciate it!

Phew…. are you still with me here? Told ya there has been a crazy amount of things happening around here and in my life at the moment! So if im not popping into the Blog-o as much, then you understand why! Please know that you peeps are dear to my heart, so please don’t completely disappear on me :) I will be sure to share the fun and eventful times ahead with you all…

Hope you are having yourself a wonderful weekend and I’ll be back very soon!

Love Keesh
