A couple of sketches…..

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

Hey there,

I am still hanging in there. I am so thankful for strong pain killers, as they are helping. I can’t seem to get past the 4 hours without having more though! Hopefully with a few more days, my mouth will heal better. I am just desperate to feel normal again! :)

Now I managed to just sit down tonight, have a cuppa and chill out stamping and colouring a couple of cards for Amy Rysavy’s Sketches. You all know how much I love Amy’s sketches! This weeks sketch is this one:

Fabulous hey!

Here is the creation I made with it:

Oh these colours cheer me up. Whenever I am having a “no-mojo” type of day, I tend to turn to these colours and they get me going. So I have used Chocolate chip, and Pumpkin pie cardstock, with Whisper white, and the Sweet Always DSP paper pack from Stampin’Up. I used the Owl together now stamp set and coloured it in with my Copic markers (see below). I have added some Chocolate taffeta ribbon, paper piercing and Pretty in pink brads to finish it off.

The Copic coloured markers I used on this card:

I had also started working on a card last week for Amy’s Sketch last week, but never got around to finishing it off to upload in time. But i have now and thought I would share it with you:

Here was the sketch:

the card i made:

This is a different colour combo for me, but I think it worked out okay. I have used Pretty in pink for the base, and added some Brocade blue spotty DSP, and a strip of So saffron DSP from the Good morning Sunshine paper pack from Stampin’Up. The stamp I used was a Gorjuss girl from Sugar Nellie stamps, which I cut out with my circle cutter, and mounted onto Saffron cardstock. I dressed it up with some wide Brocade blue grosgrain ribbon, paper piercing and some flowers topped with buttons from the Button Bouquet set from Stampin’Up.

Here are the Copic markers I used to colour the image:

For her dress and stockings, and outlines…

For her face, and hair, and the chook….

Thanks to Amy for such fabulous sketches to work with! Right I am off to bed……again!

Take care!

Deary me…..

Hey there peeps,

Well you are probably  where I got to over the past few days……well I am really sad to say that I have been down and out, well and truly with the worst ever tooth ache!

Remember that tooth that chipped in half 2 weeks ago? Well they put in a temporary filling and I was good to go, at least till they could fix it properly.

Last week however i was feeling it being very sensitive, and was thinking i was getting an ear infection, which it wasn’t. However it was the nerve from that tooth shooting pain up my jaw to my ear. I ended up having the worst night on Friday with not being able to sleep from the pain. The strongest meds that i had here wasn ‘t touching it a bit. And of course I couldn’t get through on the phone to the dentist Saturday. SO in the end i just drove there and rocked up. They were fabulous and saw me straight away.

As it turns out the temporary filling had come away and was cracked, so everything I ate was going straight to the nerve……” I am not suprised you are in a lot of pain” the dentist said :) Which of course made me feel better. So they numbed me up and re-did the temporary filling, and gave me some Panadeine forte, and Nurofen which has been helping with the pain. But I have been feeling pretty tired, which is of course part of the medication, and partly from having little sleep.

So between now and tomorrow, when I go back to the dentist I have to decide if I am going to spend $2,500 on a Root canal, and Crown for that tooth, or $90 to have it pulled. I am not 100% sure what to do, but am leaning towards having it pulled, seeing as you will never see it, and I am saving myself a HUGE amount of money.

Anyway I am sure you didn’t come here to hear all my woes about teeth, but I did just want to explain why i haven’t been around.

I still have to finish viewing the entires…..I have about 10 to go and then I will share the winning entries with you. As well as the Scrap it Saturday, etc……

However, I do have a card to share which was last weeks Mojo Monday, that I stamped last week and hadn’t managed to upload yet.

Here was the sketch :

My mojo creation:

Finally inking up that Upsy Daisy stamp set from Stampin’Up!. For this card I have used Chocolate chip cardstock for the base, and layered DSP from the Urban garden, and the Urban Oasis DSP packs from Stampin’Up. I have inked up the floral stamp with my markers, Creamy caramel, Baja breeze, and Not quite navy. I have stamped the greeting from the Cute and curly label bundle stamp, and punched it out with the Curly label punch. Lastly I distressed all the cardstock edges and added some Kraft taffeta ribbon, tied off with Baja button from the button Bouquet set, and some vanilla half pearls.

On a very happy note, today I picked up my brother Bryn and his fiancee Kate from the airport at lunchtime. Talk about exciting to see them both back again safe and sound. Kate was so ecstatic about her ring, and my oh my it looks amazing on her as well……. We are about to head over to Mum and Dad’s for a celebratory dinner! I might even get a picture to share with you all!

Okay I will be back very soon,……I promise!

PS… thanks for your patience!

A quick sketch card…..

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

Hi again,

well i did manage to whip up this card this afternoon, when I was trying to not think about my ear today :)

I have used the sketch from Taylored Expressions and their Friday cupcake challenges. I didn’t use a cupcake but a new stamp I received in the post just this morning from Sweet Nellie stamps in the UK. (www.sweetnellie.com)  They are from a line called Gorjuss girls and oh they are super cute! Tiarne went nuts over it when she got home from school today.

Here is Taylors sketch for this week:

Then my Gorjuss Girl card:

This particular stamp is the Gorjuss sitting girls (I know that is stating the obvious, but seriously that is she is called) There are a few different ones that you can get (and yes i did get some of them too.. :) )

Okay so I have just realized that I have forgotten to take a pic of all the Copic colours that i used…whoops. You have to forgive me for not being totally with it today! But I do know the other product I used….. Riding hood red for the base, then some Pink Flamingo DSP from Stampin’Up. I added some Pretty in pink taffeta ribbon fed through the slot punch. Then some blue rhinestone brads, and paper piercing for embellishment.

Well I am off to bed, and hopefully I will wake up with no ear pain tomorrow!

Have a good night!

Make it Monday # 36

 Hi everyone!

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend! Ours was pretty great, apart from me having one of my mega headaches, that just don’t want to budge! Yesterday I was really down and out, and ended up taking my space cadet medication and slept most of the day.

Now I have come down with what feels like an ear infection! I haven’t had this kind of pain for many years, and boy it aint pleasant.

But I really don’t want to come and whinge, but rather apologize for the lack of inspiration this weeks Make it Monday will provide. Not having a lot of energy or a clear head today, I decided to just show you something that I have made recently at one of our technique stamp clubs, using markers and Crystal effects.

I have had lots of people email or ask about crystal effects, so this should show you how easy it is to use and how great it looks.

Materials required:

  • Cardstock
  • Stampin’ write markers
  • Crystal effects
  • Stamps
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive
  • Brads
  • Ribbon
  • Stazon
  • Stamp-a-majig

Step 1:

Ink up your stamp using the brush end of your Stampin’ write markers from Stampin’Up.l I have used Real red, Chocolate chip, and Old olive as the colours on my Inspired by nature stamp set by Stampin’Up.

Step 2:

Breath onto your stamp where you have inked it up before you stamp it. This adds some condensation to your ink, so it will stamp nicely. Then stamp it onto your cardstock. I have stamped it onto the whisper white cardstock, which I have already stamped with the reeds from the Inspired by nature stamp with Kiwi kiss ink.

Step 3:

Put your card together. I have mounted it onto Kiwi kiss cardstock, and then Real red for the base. I also added red brads, red ribbon, and the greeting which I stamped with Stazon ink, with a Stamp-a-majig to align it perfectly.

Step 4:

When you have a new bottle of Crystal effects, cut the tiniest bit off the top of the bottle. Then you lightly squeeze the bottle to allow the crystal effects to come out over your image. Use the end of the bottle to help you spread the Crytal effects around. I have done it to the tops of each flower.

Final product:

Here is the finished card. I can’t stand it up to photograph as the Crytal effects will run, until it is set, which usually takes about 1-2 hours depending on how thick it is. It just gives your creation that extra WOW feature and it goes a long way and last a long time too!

Hope that was a little interesting even though it was brief :) ~ I promise to do something 3-D for you next week!

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge # 9…

Well it is that time again for a brand new challenge! This week we have a sketch challenge for you all and well it is a little different, so I just know you will have fun with this one!

Here is your sketch for this week:

Now can you believe that I have made two cards for this challenge……And I got the sketch wrong! LOL! I printed it off to work on at my desk and it is only now that when I am uploading this sketch do I see that I have it slightly wrong. It seems that my print out as cut a bit off the bottom of the sketch…..Ah well you will still get the idea!

Here is the first one:

Spot the difference? I haven’t taken the tag base right down to the bottom of the card! but ah well you get that. So here I have used Rose red, Kiwi kiss, Regal rose, and Whisper white cardstock. Then I used the Inspired by nature and Flight of the Butterfly stamp sets from Stampin’Up. I added some Regal rose wide grosgrain ribbon tied of with a pink button from the Button Bouquet box. Then some Pretty in pink taffeta ribbon, paper piercing, and Pretty in pink brads to finish it off.

Next I made a masculine card, turning the sketch to the side:

For this card I have used the Seaworthy stamp set from Stampin’Up. This stamp set is only available in Australia and New Zealand. I have stamped it onto watercolour paper with Chocolate ink, and paper tolled l the sails, as well as added a bit of water to the stamp to blend the colour. The base cardstock is Baja breeze, and I have also used Really rust for the tag. Lastly I added some Chocolate chip wide grosgrain, twine, hodgepodge, and paper piercing for the embellishment.

So there you have mine, now be sure to go and check out the Design Teams samples, as they are sure to be GORGEOUS!
