Gift Bag Tutorial…..

Published by Makeesha under 3-D Items, Gift Bags, Tutorials

Hello again,

On the weekend we celebrated my friend Marcelle’s special Birthday (50!) and so her being a Demonstrator and a dear friend, I wanted to make her something special to put her birthday gift in. So I made her a gift bag made with Rich Razzleberry cardstock. As I made it from my own measurements and what not, i took photos so that I could share it with you all as a Tutorial. So here goes……

Oh first up here is a picture of the Gift Bag:

The final product….

The GIFT BAG instructions……

Step 1:

Cut two matching pieces of cardstock measuring 6″ by 8.5″. You will then want to score along the short side in at 2″ from the bottom.

Step 2:

Cut another two pieces of cardstock, at 3″ by 7″. Next you will want to score these pieces of cardstock 1cm in on each side of the cardstock along the long side. Then score the panel in the centre which will be 1.5″ from either side of the cardstock (long side). Next score the two panels 1cm in from the end on the short side (only do this on one end of the cardstock)

Step 3:

Cut the end score line as shown in the image:

Fold the cardstock along the lines so that they look like the photo, or like a ravine or a W.

Step 4:

Decorate the front of the two larger pieces of cardstock you have cut, they will be the outsides of the Gift bag.

Step 5:

Adhere the side panels to the larger sheets of cardstock, by using tape on the side panels, and then only adhering it at 1cm in (where the scored lines are) * see image…..

Step 6:

Add the other large panel to the base 2″ panel. This will create the base of your gift bag, and will make the base sturdy.

Step 7:

Add the other side panel to the other front piece. That way you bag is now together. Here is a view of how the side panels look on the gift bag

Step 8:

Punch holes in the both the front and back panels and add the ribbon to create some handles.

Step 9:

The finished product again!

Add your tissue paper and gift and VOILA, you have a pretty hand made gift bag!

See how easy that was??!! You will be able to whip these out in no time, or even show the at a workshop. Okay peeps, if you do happen to make one of these wee gorgeous gift bags, I would LOVE to see a piccie of it, and i will put it up on my blog for all to see. That way people will get to see all the different ideas, and so do I! So email your pics to me at rmbyl@optusnet.com.au :)

Alrighty well I hope you enjoyed that tutorial as much as I enjoyed putting it together. Have a great night and i will be back tomorrow!

Take care!

Boxed thanks….

Published by Makeesha under 3-D Items

Hey there,

Well I just spoke to Teneale, Kirsty, and Sarah-Jane (Inkspirations DT gals) whilst they are out enjoying dinner at Darling Harbour tonight, and they are having a wonderful catch up together. Only thing missing is me they reckon! Too cute. I so wish I was there with them right now, but I am sure there will be time for another catch up later in the year! Convention is always full of fabulous times and lots of laughs till you think your sides are going to split. That is what I love most about Convention is the comrarderie of all the demo’s and how fellow stampers become such close and wonderful friends!

Today I want to share with you a little box I have made using one of Papertrey Ink’s templates. It was so easy to put together, and decorate too. You could even have your kids make one of these, and you can fill them with lollies or candles, or what not. The perfect little gift box.

Here is the one I made as a little Thank you box for a friend:

I have made the outer box in Rose red card stock, and then mounted some Saffron and Basic grey dsp. The stamp is the reeds from the Inspired by Naturecstamp set, along with the Fluttering By stamp. The greeting is from the Teeny tiny sentiments, all from Stampin’Up.

So there you have it, and wee lil box!

Have a great night everyone!

A sketch and a purse…

Published by Makeesha under 3-D Items, Cards, Sketch Challenges

Howdy folks,

how ya keeping? well i hope :)

Thanks for all your comment love the past couple of days! I have really enjoyed reading your words of encouragement! I think that is what I enjoy the most about blogging….hearing from my dear readers. so thank you peeps!

Okay so I have two things to share today. The first one is the sketch card I made for The Sweet Sunday sketch this week. i like how this one turned out. It isn’t girly, but it is cute. what do you think?

I love these wee froggies from Stampin’Up. They have really cheeky faces me thinks! I have used Kraft for the base, with Not quite navy, Whiper white and Kiwi kiss cardstock. I also added some paper piercing and the antique brass hodgepodge to hold the greeting. Thanks Karen for such a fun sketch!

I have so many templates saved to my computer that I just don’t use, so I am going to try and change that, and do a 3-d item at least once a week. I have first off used this Purse template from Paper Trey Ink.  I wasn’t too sure how it would work out but wowza these templates are so easy it almost feels wrong! Here is the wee lil purse I created:

How cute is that! It is the perfect little size to put choccies or a lolly bag into. I have used Regal rose cardstock and then used some My minds eye dsp to dress it up. The clasp is a velcro dot, and I have used a build a brad to fancy it up. Now that was easy……let’s see what i dig up for next week??!!

I got the most amazing gift in the post today, and i can’t wait to share it with you! Sorry you will have to wait till tomorrow……cheeky aren’t i??!!

Have a great night everyone and i will see you all here again tomorrow for the new challenge!

Easter Basket Tutorial…

Published by Makeesha under 3-D Items

Hey peeps,

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend! We had a busy one as usual. We actually went to a Home show on Saturday which was pretty good. Our house plans are almost complete all ready for approvals. It is all a bit excited, but very nerve wracking at the same time. It is hard to say, “Yep that is just how we like it”! I am worried I am going to forget something, or make a wrong decision, but hopefully we don’t. One thing for sure is, it is definitely going to be an adventure building our very own home!

So I have been seeing some of my Easter baskets pop up on different blogs, which is a bit exciting! I then realised that I didn’t even put it up on here as a post. A few weeks back I wrote a tutorial for Splitcoast Stampers on how to make a cute little Easter Basket. So with Easter upon us, I thought I would share it with you and link you back to the tutorial, if you think it is something you would like to make:

Easter Basket:

You can view the tutorial HERE:

If you have made an Easter Basket, feel free to link your creation in the comments section so everyone can check it out (including me) and then we can also see all the different varieties too!

I hope to stamp tonight, as I have worked hard today….yup all the cleaning, washing, ironing, meal planning, baking, and paying of bills all got completed today, so I can have some me time! woo hoo!

Have a great night and I hope to be back tomorrow to show you what i managed to whip up!

A new stamp set….

Published by Makeesha under 3-D Items, Cards

Hey there!

Thanks for all the get well wishes! I really appreciate it, and I am happy to say that the fam is all back to normal :) Tomorrow is the very last day for the School year, and I can hardly believe it! Where has this year gone? Does anybody know? The kids are most excited about the school holidays……me? Well I am looking forward to them, but I am going to have to get creative on how to entertain 4 kids for 6 weeks! Good thing it is so hot here right now, we can go to the pools, or swim in our dam….hmmmm time will tell I am sure!

As you know we just had the release of the brand new Summer mini from Stampin’Up.( you can view it by clicking on the cover on my right hand side toolbar) and with a new mini comes new stamps, and goodies!!!

One of the new stamp sets is called, “For everything” and is rather cute. I actually received this stamp set at this years Incentive Trip as a free gift which was nice. I have just pulled it out to have a play around with, and wanted to share what I made with you.

First off I made this card:

Another new colour combo I am enjoying lately, Chocolate chip, So saffron, and Regal rose. I stamped the background with the Polka dot background stamp, with Chocolate ink. I have used the spiral punch on the saffron cardstock, and distressed with my cutter kit. The greeting is from the Best yet stamp set. I have added the dsp from Stampin’Up’s scrapping kit, Love sparkles, and topped it with Regal rose grosgrain ribbon and tied it off with a large button and thread.

Next off I created a little 4 x 4 inch card, which is a bit more classic in colour choice:

Here I have the new spotty red ribbon, and the greeting is from the Really retro stamp set which I embossed with white embossing powder. I have coloured the image with my Copic markers, and topped them off with some glitter.

This next creation is so “not me” cuz it is bright….. but hey some of you love bright, so thought rather than toss it in the bin, I would share it:

See? told you it was bright! I have used the Turquoise cardstock, and the Pink flamingo DSP from Stampin’Up. The ribbon is also turquoise blue grosgrain ribbon.

Then last of all I made a wee little goodie bag holder, which are sooooo easy to whip up! I have done a photo tutorials of these a while back, and if you want to make one too, you can view the tutorial HERE!

Here I have used Taken with teal, Real red, and Whisper white cardstock. I stamped the different images, and coloured with Copic markers. I have also used my scallop, and 1 inch circle punches, and added some paper piercing as well. I tied off the bag of lollies with the Red polka dot ribbon from Stampin’Up.

So there you have a wee sample of the new stamp set, For everything! I hope you liked them :)
