Make it Monday # 23

 HI there!

I hope you are all well, and had a great weekend! I certainly did :) Yep I took the weekend off, from stamping, emails, etc…. and didn’t spend anytime on the computer, AND I had two afternoon sleeps too. Like a true Nanna. I have now caught up on my sleep, and am feeling so much better which is great. So hopefully I can catch up on here, and get some more inspiration for you all this week…….well that is the plan!

So to start off the new week, here is the Make it Monday for you this week:

Carousel Note Handbags

Materials Required:

  • Paper trimmer
  • 2 Carousel notes
  • Ribbon
  • Jumbo eyelets
  • Crop-a-dile
  • Stamps
  • Stamp pads
  • Adhesive
  • Bone scorer

Step 1:

Take two Carousel notes, and cut 4 scallops off at a straight line.

Step 2:

Where you have cut the scallops off, go in 1 inch and score directly down that note in a straight line.

Step 3:

Now at the scored lines, tape the two Carousel notes together, like in the image.

Step 4:

Take a piece of cardstock that is 4 inches wide (10.2 cm’s) and 8.5 inches long (21.5cms.’s). You will need to score it, in one inch along the bottom. Then across you will start with a 1 inch, then 3inches, then one inch, and another 3 inches, and you should end up with roughly half an inch at the end.

Step 5:

Cut the cardstock up along that bottom strip at each score line, and at the end cut the ½ inch corner completely off.

Step 6:

Fold it all together to make this box.

Step 7:

Attach the base of the box, to the centre of the two Carousel notes.

Step 8:

On either side of the carousel notes, punch large holes with your Crop-a-dile, and add a jumbo antique brass brad.

Step 9:

Add tape to the top side of the box, ready to adhere to the Carousel notes.

Step 10:

Once you have closed your Carousel notes together, I have stamped the background, and added two different sized strips across the notes.

Step 11:

Add ribbon knotted on the inside so that you have handles.

Step 12:

Decorate the front. I have used the In the stars stamp set, and the large and small star punches.

Different sample:

Here I have used the Soft sky Carousel notes, with Bayou ribbon and stripes, and the Embrace life stamp set, and Ginger blossoms DS paper.

S

So there you have this weeks MIM. I know i have made something similar to this recently with those triangle boxes, but I still think these are darn cute with teh scalloped edges. These would make the cutest lolly bags for a little girls birthday party! I hope you like them too :)

I look forward to sharing more with you this week, so stay tuned!

Stamp Camp….

Hi again,

Okay so I was hoping to get this up yesterday….I am starting to sound like a stuck record! But yet again things went a little hay wire, and I didn’t manage to. I have had a super huge week, with one day to go before school is out for the year. I have had classes, a workshop, Mother in laws birthday, swimming lessons, teachers gifts to make, school excursions, Christmas end of year concerts…….you can just picture it can’t you. But I guess you are all the same as well at the moment!

Actually I am completely and utterly exhausted! I was driving to the other side of the city this morning to take Tiarne to her Paediatric dentist and I had to pull over to get a drink because I was falling asleep at the wheel! It is really frightening to do that! So i plan on getting an early night tonight, after I have finished all the teachers Thank you gift tonight for the last day of School tommorrow.

I really can’t believe how fast it has gone, this year that is. And again I can’t believe that Tiarne will be going into year 4! amazing….. I am so looking forward to the school holidays, and taking life a little slower…… I just have to get through the next 10 days or so, as we have commitments every night between now and the 21st of Dec! Craziness I tell ya.

So I thought I would just tell you a little bit about the Stamp camp last weekend. What a fab weekend that was! It started a bit rough with me running late, losing my mobile so I couldn’t call Monnie moo to let her know I was late, stressing all the way there, and then have a nasty sore throat, I found it hard to chill out and get into it.

On Friday night we made 20 Make and Takes! That was a pretty good effort for the first night! We all designed a card, and had enough for everyone to make it. I would show you mine, but I want to use it for something else…..A little suprise, and so don’t want to give it away on here!

Saturday morning I got up and put on my brand new runners, to go for a big walk. It was great investigating the place, and then getting to catch up with Vicki too.

Then Saturday we had some wonderful classes! First we did this amazing Mini scrapbook album using the Stampin’Up’s Scrapbooking kits. I totally love what I made. I haven’t quite finished it, as I have to decorate the front, and add the photos, but here is a couple of images so you can see what I am talking about.

One of the pages open. You get 12 pages in this mini album.

A side view. I love how it is all in the same colours. I have ordered a couple of the scrapbooking kits and I hope to make these with the kids over the school holidays….I will keep you posted on how that goes :)

Thanks to Odette who showed us how to make these! She did a fab job teaching us all,……very enjoyable!

If you are interested in making one yourself, let me know as I think this would make a fun and productive class!

Then we did a paper punching class by Pat Carr, who is amazing at this stuff! We made a dog, Lion, and amermaid! I am not really into punch craft, but I did really enjoy it, and will probably give it another go one day.

After Pat, Linda showed us the Polished stone technique. I have never done this technique before so it was great to give it a go, and get your hands all dirty! And check out this gorgeous card Linda designed and we all got to make:

Don’t you just love the look of that background! Thanks Linda, I really enjoyed that, and will definitely give it another go!

Then last of all we had a class from Sue Joyce, who is a beautiful stamper. Sue showed us two 3-d cards you can make. one of them was one of those pop-up card stands, but i am sad to say that mine got a little crushed in transit. Then the other one was these tri-fold stand cards which are amazing! I think I will be making these again for sure!

Groovy hey! I think I will be making these with a Christmas feel, as place cards for the Christmas lunch table this year.

Thanks to all the lovely ladies who put those classes together!!! I have to say it was sooooo wonderful to be the class participant rather than the teacher for a change. I found it really refreshing!

After that we all had a photo outside on the lawn, and here is the group that came along. I am sure you can spot me…..I am the one on the right hand side. Monnie Moo is at the back 4th one in from the left.

For the weekend, Ngaire ran a card competition which was fun. There were lots of beautiful entries!!! This is the card that I entered:

Here I have used the Big old ugly flower, as Karen so loves to call it. I have used Close to Cocoa, Soft sky, and pretty in pink, which I think is such a pretty combo of colours. I din’t win, but it is understandable when you see the winning card by Sue Joyce!!!

Overall it was a fabulous weekend, to share our talents with each other, and have a fabulous time laughing with each other and thanks to Ngaire who put it all together for us! I can’t wait for the next one :)

Make it Monday # 19

Hey there!

Well once again Monday has come around so fast! But today I managed to think of something for you all and here it is……Enjoy!

Pretties Kit Flower Hair clips

Materials Required:

  • Pretties Kit
  • Aquapainter
  • Crystal effects
  • Glitter
  • Ink Refill
  • Mini glue dots
  • Hair clips, or bobby pins

 Step 1:

Take your ink refill and load some of the ink onto a plastic plate - I have used an icecream container lid

Step 2:

Add a little water to the ink and spread around with your aquapainter

 Step 3:

Take a flower from your pretties kit (any size) and load the ink onto it with you aqua painter. I have used Groovy Guava ink.

 Step 4:

Set your flower aside to dry

Step 5:

Take your Crystal Effects and add some to your plastic plate. You will want to add a little bit of water to is, say 1 part water, 3 parts Crystal effects to dilute it slightly

 Step 6:

Using your aquapainter again, load the crystal effects onto the flower. Then sit is aside to dry. This is going to stiffen up your flower and make it easier to work with.

 Step 7:

Take your glue pen and run it over your flower.

 Step 8:

Pour glitter over your flower - either fine or chunky glitter is okay.

Step 9:

Set your flower aside until that glue and glitter dries

Step 10:

Decorate the center of your flower. I have used a small flower and half pearl

Step 11:

Take your clip. I bought this one from Priceline which is a beauty supplies store for about 99 cents each.

Add a dollop of Crystal effects to the top end of your clip

Step 12:

And pop your flower on top. I doubled the flower so that it will get a full effect. Once again you will have to set this aside till the Crystal effects dries. You don’t want it falling off before it sets.

Alternative ideas:

For this clip I have coloured a large flower with Blue Bayou ink refill. I have then folded the flower over in half, and attached it to the clip. I also added a smaller white flower, folded in half, and a half pearl. I finished it off with some Dazzling diamonds glitter

And for this one I created the little flowers, and placed a small rhinestone brad in the centre. I have attached it to a bobby pin to make another floral clip.

 3 different styles:

In the Hair:

The girls had fun posing for these pics…..AND they couldn’t believe that I made these myself, just for them!

Enjoy!

Make it Monday # 18

Hi everyone,

Well I don’t know about you, but that was another HUGE weekend! We managed to get the whole outside of the house painted plus all the window frames, and the verandah and stairs at the front! I don’t think I have worked that physically for a long time! BUT I did have fun, with my iPod, and paintbrush…I was the one covered with the most paint too :)

Anyway here is your Make it Monday for this week, so enjoy!

Rectangle Wallets

Materials Required:

  • Paper trimmer
  • Hodgepodge Hardware
  • A4 cardstock
  • 12 x 12 DS paper
  • Mat pack
  • Velcro dots
  • Bone Folder
  • Ribbon
  • Tape
  • Scallop punch
  • Circle punch
  • Square punch
  • Dimensionals
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Corner rounder

Step 1:

Cut your sheet of A4 cardstock to measure 19cm x 23cm’s

Step 2:

Score your cardstock…..with the following measurements.

Along the short side, you want to score 1cm in from each edge on both sides.

Then on the long side, score first at 6cm’s, then 1cm, then 8cm’s, then one cm, and then you should either have 6cm’s left, or if it is a bit over trim the cardstock.

You should have a pattern like this….

Step 3:

Cut the 1 cm edge off the one end (so it will be 7cm in from the end of the cardstock) Then cut the little score lines up, like shown in the picture

Step 4:

Along the edge that you haven’t cut…. Make a pencil mark in about 2.5cm’s in from the edge.

Step 5:

Take your square punch and line it up along the pencil line so that you cut out a strip like this below:

Step 6:

Using your corner rounder, round of the edges where you have punched with the square punch. Once done it will look like this:

Step 7:

Add tape on the shorter end, and the little tabs

Step 8:

Using DS paper add strips along both ends. I have also added a strip of cardstock that I have paper pierced two rows.

Step 9:

Fold your box up, so that you have one end creating the pocket

Step 10:

Take these pieces from your Hodgepodge Hardware tin.

Then add them to the top spine of your wallet

Step 11:

Tie some co-ordinating ribbon to the hodgepodge. I also found adding a little Mini glue dot under the hodgepodge stops them from swinging around

Step 12:

On the inside of your wallet, as a Velcro dot, so that you will be able to seal your wallet closed

Step 13:

Add the contents…..here I have added a King Size Kit Kat….or you can fill it with Love Notes and Envelopes…which makes it a fab gift too!

…Love Notes and envelopes.

Step 14:

Add a decoration on the front in the center

Final Product:

Other Samples:

 Spring Break DS paper

 Summer Picnic DS paper

  Spring Fling DS paper

Ah well all I can say is “I am glad that is up for you!” It is mind boggling how long it can take to upload these tutorials sometimes…….don’t get me wrong, I love to share them with you, but I feel like it is such a big job sometimes. Anyway I know you all love and appreciate the tute’s so all I can say is ENJOY!

Be back soon!

I’m Back…..with some Christmas Inspiration

Published by Makeesha under 3-D Items, Cards

Hey There!

Sorry to have been MIA (missing in action) the last couple of days! I have had a nasty cold, which took my mojo, and desire to stamp away!!! I just haven’t had the energy to stamp, and well as sad as that is, it has been good to have the little break and rest up for a bit. Life is busy…..which I am sure you all know and suffer from as well. AND unfortunately I think it is only going to get busier till Christmas….

Talking of Christmas, I did a Christmas class the other week, and have been meaning to show you the creations the lovely ladies made. Hey Michelle, Julie and crew,…….such lovely ladies, and I am stoked to have met them :)

I did 4 cards and a 3-D item and going by the comments they loved them all. So here they are……..getting you in the mood for Christmas hey!

So first off, here is a Long card I have made using Pomegranite cardstock for the base. I stamped the background with the lined Background stamp from Stampin’Up to give it some texture. I then added a strip of the Artichoke DS paper from Stampin’Up’s Holiday Harmony paper pack, mounted onto some river rock cardstock. I have roughed up the edges with the distresser on my cutter kit. I added the double rows of paper piercing along the top. I have added the Purely pomegranite satin ribbon across the DS paper, and then lastly I stamped the Christmas tree from the Season of Joy stamp set from Stampin’Up which was stamped in Artichoke ink, and cut out, blinged up with glitter and popped up with Dimensionals. The final touch was the greeting at the bottom which is from the Many Merry Messages stamp set and embossed with White embossing powder.

Okay for this simple yet sweet card, I have started with Mellow Moss for the base and I have stamped the scrolls from the Scribble this stamp set on the background. I have then used a strip of Artichoke DS paper from the Holiday Harmony paper pack from Stampin’Up, and then mounted it with a strip of Whisper white cardstock which I have paper pierced both sides of. The greeting is from the Many merry messages stamp set. Lastly I added a strip of mellow moss, taffeta ribbon tied off onto the strip. I have then stamped the large flower from the Scribble this stamp set, with Basic black ink onto Real red cardstock, cut the flowers out and double mounted them. I placed a green Rhinestone brad in the centre.

Okay so next we have made these cute gift card holders……perfect for those Christmas gifts! Gift cards are becoming sooooo popular! I have used the Wintergreen paper pack, and the Season of joy stamp set with glitter, corner rounder, wide celery grosgrain ribbon, and Artichoke cardstock and brad. In the inside I have used a little coin envelope, punch a half circle and trimmed the sealed end to create the little pocket for the card etc…. When it closes the side slips under the feature on the front to make it stay closed.

I have showed you this card previously for a challenge I set, but thought I would give you a few more details. I have used Not quite Navy for the card base, which I have made into a tri-fold card. I then made a smaller card with Bashful blue cardstock and mounted the front with Vanilla. I have stamped the Baroque Motifs swirly stamp all over the base with NQN ink. I created a mask with the piece of cardstock which I cut a large circle out of with my round tab punch. I sponged up the base with Bashful blue ink, and then stamped the swirls again with the mask in place, so that the bauble has the swirls but not outside the circle. I bliged it up with some glitter, ribbon and silver eyelets. Lastly the greeting is from the So many saying stamp set from Stampin’Up!

Then last of all we made these cute little lolly gift bags. I have used Real red cardstock for the base which has been scored to create a spine along the bottom. I then mounted the striped paper from the Dashing paper pack from Stampin’Up! The greeting stamp is from the Season of Joy stamp set which I stamped in Olive ink, and Real red. I cut out certain features of the red one and mounted it onto the Olive images to get the two colour effect. I added the little strip of red gingham ribbon along the side also. On the inside I have taped in a little bag of Minties which match nicely with the colour scheme….. the handle at the top was made with the Word window punch and I have tied it off with some wide Olive grosgrain ribbon.

Okay so that was the Christmas class…..I have just realized that some of my photos don’t have my watermark on them……must have been rushing again! Please respect that these are my creations, and not claim them to be your own, on any gallery, or blog…thanks!

Righty, it is FREEZING this morning……when is summer arriving. I am about to get out of my walking gear and have a hot shower to warm up! Be back soon, with the new weekly Challenge….and winner from last week.

Have a great day!
