A BIG hello from the tropics!…..
Hey everyone,
Oh it feels so good to get the chance to sit down tonight and ramble on……well I hope I actually don’t drive you all a little nuts, but I just wanted to share with you some of the going on’s we have been up to this past week.
We certainly have hit the ground running here! So much to do, and well it has been a bit of a challenge too. We have never had to rent before, and boy oh boy that is a whole new world to us!!! We found a fabulous place close to the school, and nice and big with extra room for visitors, so we spent the better half a day getting the application in. They want so much information just cutting short of which underwear you buy!!! Anyway after all that effort and being the first and only applicants, the real estate did a shifty on us and offered it to someone else!!! Talk about frustrating! Since then every house that would be suitable seems to be rented in a space of 5 hours!!! We are a little limited having 4 kids, as we need the space, and not to mention ALL that stamping paraphernalia too!
We did look at another house yesterday, which is HUGE, and would you believe it has a complete separate office / craft room full of cuboards, drawers and shelves, and guess what???? It is all PINK!!!! Perfect for me no? I think so. I have been dreaming all day about loading up those shelves with my stuff, &iPod and getting my fingers busy with some ink and paper……..OH fingers crossed we get it, and if we do I will promise to post a photo!
Yesterday was the first day of the School year for the kids here in Queensland, and so off the kids went to their brand new school! We enrolled them into Freshwater Christian College, which is on a beautiful premises right at the base of the mountains! They were anxious and excited to go, but poor Mali was a bundle of tears and very overwhelmed by the new faces, teacher and classroom! Hopefully it will pass. We of course had to take a few snapshots of them in their new uniforms, and I thought I would share with you:
Elijah, Tiarne, and Malakai
Don’t you just love those Certainly celery shirts with the night of navy collars?! As you can see there is beautiful rainforest right behind them, and this is just a snippet of what you see everywhere! Cairns is a place where you really get to see God’s Handiwork all around amongst the creation! I am still getting used to all the new animals and insects though…… hearing all the gekko’s clucking at night, and seeing all the butterflies and lizards around as well. Apparently the holiday cabin we are staying in has had 3 snakes in there, so we are trying (as best as you can with 4 kids) to keep the doors closed at all times, as I definitely don’t want to see a snake slithering around. Elijah on the other hand is hoping one will appear, as he loves snakes and is a real Steve Irwin wannabe! I am sure we will soon get used to all the new surroundings!
So there you have a little bit of news of what has been happening this week. I have really been wanting to blog more, and blog surf too, but here I am paying $3 an hour, and you know how fast one hour disappears on the computer!!! So I am having to behave myself and limit my time on the computer! I very much look forward to having my craft room set up, as well as my computer and having a routine as well!
Take care and I will be back tomorrow to announce the new winner of this weeks challenge……I am LOVING what I have seen so far that is for sure!
Have a great night,

Welcome to the neighbourhood! (LOL, I’m down the road a piece in Townsville…but we’re neighbours in Nth Qld terms!)
Renting does have it’s troubles - good luck finding a place! (and the house had a complete what??? I think something got cut out of the post!?)
Hope you’re enjoying the wet season - it’s been a tad damp over the past week!
Tamara
Hi, Keesh
Those kids are too good-looking for their own good… They’ll charm those kids at their new school in no time! Poor Mali, though… I hope he feels better now and that their day went great! You know what those shirts remind me of? Bowling shirts! Lol! It’s all good, though - they remind me of Chandler from Friends, who used to wear some all the time… It’s definitely cooler than other uniforms I’ve seen.
And look at that scenery! Looks like a wonderful part of the country (aside from the snakes part). Had to laugh at the Steve Irwin comment - see, I told you last time we chatted that all Aussies have a little bit of Crocodile Dundee in ‘em! hahaha!
Best of luck getting that house!
Cindy
Oh wow - the first thing I noticed - apart from those gorgeous faces of course
was that lush green background. We used to live in Charters Towers, and you forget just how green it is, and the sound of the bugs (until I smell gardenia, and that takes me back!) A little different to our current locale - Colorado - which is a vision of browny brown and a sprinkle of white right now. A little cooler too, I bet!
Good luck with the house hunting. Fingers crossed you will be in the pinkest of pink craft rooms before you know it!
Hey there Keeshie!
Lovely to hear from ya!! So glad the kids had a good first day. I’m sure little mali will be ok once he makes some friends!!
What a bummer about the first house - actually its more than a bummer - that was just downright rude of them to give it to someone else!! Geese!!!
Will hopefully text ya today - have a huge morning of mowing before we get this big deluge of rain that we’re suppose to get over the weekend!! AAAGGHH!!
Luv Dot
xo
Hi, Keesh, Good luck with house hunting - it can be very frustrating, but the right one will be yours eventually. Love the sound of the rainforest so close, Jo
Hello there- I am a follower of your blog and just wanted to let you know that I love hearing about your adventures!! I have never been where you are and love learning tidbits of info! ( : The rainforest pic is lovely! Hope you find a house soon! A pink stamping with built in cabinets and drawers — how perfect! ( : Hope the kids adjust well to school and life settles down a bit for all of you! Thanks for sharing with us!
Gorgeous photo of the kiddos in their crisp new uniforms; hope they settle into school happily, and really quickly! Fingers crossed for you, that you get the pink craft room - oh, and the rest of the house (priorities!)!!
What a darling picture of your kids. That lush foilage reminds me of Costa Rica where I grew up. Hope you get that big house and can settle in soon. Blessings.
I can’t imagine moving a family of 6 across the country. But what an adventure. Having been all over Australia myself (on the Greyhound - in my younger, backpacker days) I understand the difference in sounds, smells, animals etc. It’s funny what you get used to at home and you don’t even realize it. I hope the kids like their new school and make lots of new friends. As I sit here in Vancouver, getting ready for the Winter Olympics in 2 weeks, and all the excitment and chaos that it brings, my thoughts were drawn down south to your end of the world. It’s foreign to us to think of school starting in February. Next week is the halfway mark of our school year up here. I hope you get that dream home, and more importantly that dream stampin’ studio. Good luck
What a brave family. Will be thinking of you are praying that the right house apears soon. God really like to test us but after all He is in control and always wants the best for us
Hope the kiddlies are enjoying their new school Keesh. Hope you’re managing in the wet weather too….glad Olga went on her merry way without damage…may there not be anymore TC’s. It is such a part of life in the Far North. Fingers crossed you got the house with the pink room…sounds awesome:)))) xL
So glad you are settling in bit by bit Keesh…..pity abt the real estate bods tho…karma will get them eventually!!! The kids look sho happy and bright…and one day at a time philosophy….give it a month or 2…and it’ll be…what new school. If they are anything like their Mum….they’ll make friends in a heartbeat!! Take care and I hope you are crafting up a storm soon. ooxx
