Inkspirations Colour Challenge # 17….

Published by Makeesha at 7:03 am under Scrapbooking

Hey Everyone,

Well here is my very first post from the other side of the country! We arrived safely in Cairns at 4am on Wednesday morning and were met by my brother and sister in law, Matt and Claire, along with Claire’s Dad and sister! As soon as you land you can smell the humidity in the air, it is really different to what we are used to! We went back to their place for a morning cuppa, and a sleep as I didn’t sleep a wink on the flight - far too emotional from all our goodbye’s at the airport along with having Janaya sleeping in my arms as well.

Since arriving we have been super busy settling in, and looking for either a property to buy, or rent! It certainly is rather overwhelming, but hopefully we find something soon, or have a clear direction on which way to go. Yesterday we had an appointment at the kids new school to get their new uniforms, as well as get to see their classrooms. The kids really enjoyed that, and are excited about attending a new school, which is great!

With everything that has happened over the past 4 weeks, I haven’t had too much time to think about the actual move and what it will be like etc. But wow it really has come as a bit of a shock now that we are here, and have said all our goodbye’s! It is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do!!!! I know we will all see each other again, but I can’t deny the fact that I am feeling rather vunerable at the moment! I am sure it will pass once we are settled somewhere and have some resemblence of a routine, but for now I am feeling rather sad, but excited too, if that is even possible???  So there is a brief update on our arrival. I really need to pull out the camera and take pics for you!

After a most wonderful break it is now time to get geared up for the New Year of challenges! I am really excited about getting in and stamping again, as soon as my stamps arrive in our sea container from Perth which should be this week! YAY!

This week we have a Colour Challenge for you, but it is a contest as well! The Design Team are gathering together to judge the winning creation and honourable mention this week! The grand prize is a $100 gift voucher to spend on Stampin’Up product of your choice!!! The honourable mention will receive the Butterfly Prints stamp set (in the Australian Summer Mini)…….So get those colours out, and get creating! You can play along as many times as you like, and we look forward to viewing all your gorgeous creations!

Here are the colours to work with:

I know, I know, it has Cameo coral in it…….definitely not a colour favourite, but I am sure you will be suprised with how great it can actually all look together! So dig it out (probably from the very back of your cupboard, and dust it off :)  and get creating!)

Here is a sample with the colours ( I actually made these last year sometime) since I don’t have my stamps in arms reach!

For this creations I have used the Priceless stamp set along with the So swirly jumbo roller

Here is a wee scrap page of Mali using the same colours.

So here are all the deets you need to play along:

Be sure to go and check out the Design Team members creations and give them some comment love!

Want to play along? - here are some guidelines.

If you would like to play along, all you need to do is follow the directions:

1. Make your creation following the challenge ie, sketch, colour, or inspiration image.

2. Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, with a direct link back to the post on this website, so that others viewing the post will know where the challenge has come from, and it is courtesy to do so.

3. Then come back to this post so that you can add your name and link in the Mr. Linky!

You have until the Thursday the 28th January midnight to get your entries linked.

I will be announcing the winner and honourable mention on Friday the 29th January in the afternoon.

I hope you have lots of fun with this one, and I look forward to seeing your creations and picking the winner!!!!

Talk soon,

Love Keesh

Thinking of you as you embark on this exciting new phase of your lives! It’s only natural to grieve for what you left behind, and at the same time feel excitement and optimism for what lies ahead. As long as you have your family with you, life will be good! I’ll bet you are longing for those stamps to arrive. Thanks for updating us all in the meantime. Happy house-hunting :) By the way, I’m a complete convert to Cameo Coral; love it now!

Happy house-hunting, Byl family! I know what you mean about the humidity, but hopefully you’ll get used to it - Queensland’s the best ;) Lovely samples for this challenge - I am converted to liking Cameo Coral too, since the Raspberry Tart DSP came out!

Hi Keesh, so glad to hear that you have started on what must be a wonderfully exciting adventure with the family. I wish you all the best over there, and will call in on the blog from time to time to see how you are settling in.

  12. Janeon 23 Jan 2010 at 2:01 am

Hello, I’m a long time reader, first time poster! Having just moved to another country from Australia, I could really relate to your feelings regarding your move and just wanted to let you know it does get better. You’re allowed to be excited and sad- though it’s a weird combination of feelings isn’t it? It’s a big shock to our systems to do big moves like that, and while the new horizons are very exciting, it’s hard to leave family and friends behind. Once you find a house and establish a routine you’ll feel “right at home” again. All the best with it.
PS I love how you’ve managed to make Cameo Coral look halfway attractive! I might have to give this a go…

  13. Charmaine Blackon 23 Jan 2010 at 2:32 am

Hey there Keesh, I miss you already! Great to hear you made it safe and sound to your new home. I’m sure things will seem a bit strange for a while. I look forward to all the news and photos in the future. Take care, lots of love from Char xx

Thanks again for some inspiration and a challenge, for once I’ve had the time to play along.

I hope all is going well with adjusting to the new surroundings. I’m sure with plenty of prayer you will not have a problem with finding a new house. A close friend of mine re-located to Holland almost 12 months ago now, she now has a third child and they are doing great. God has really provided for them in so many ways.

  28. Karyn Schultzon 25 Jan 2010 at 3:20 am

What a great challenge! I only started participating in a few challenges at the end of last year and find it is a great way to start a card when your mind is blank (as mine often seems to be.
Best of luck for the changes you are facing in your life with your shift. Your blog gives me lots of crafting inspiration. thankyou!

  29. Jo Knappsteinon 26 Jan 2010 at 5:08 am

Welcome back Keesh, Nice to have you back, and I hope that you are all settling in to your new life! It must be exciting for all of you. I am looking forward to all the challenges (and the great cards that are made a s a response) for yet another year. I don’t think that I’ll have time to enter for awhile, but I love to check out all the inspiring work that is done. Sorry in advance that I won’t be able to comment on everyone’s blogs, but I do love to see what everyone is up to. Good luck with your decisions (it won’t be easy, I know)
    Love and best wishes, Jo

Loved doing this challenge. This is my first one done since a couple of months ago. All the best with settling in to your new town. I completely understand how you are feeling overwhelmed and excited at the same time. I sold my house just before Christmas and moved into a rental property. It’s been a very emotional time. It’s good to get back into stamping again. Good Luck.

  31. Richelleon 26 Jan 2010 at 2:44 pm

Thanks for a great challenge (once again) and beautiful projects to inkspire us all! And your big move to QLD I’m sure will inspire us to make changes in our everyday lives and not just our crafting lives! Good luck with househunting!

  37. KimBon 27 Jan 2010 at 11:26 pm

    Hi Keesh,

it was lovely to get an update, hope your not suffering from too much of the cyclone weather. I can understand the absolute tumult of emotions you must be going through. Leaving a home you’ve loved and special people is never ever going to be easy. But how exciting (and scary) to start somewhere new! Good luck with the house hunt and I hope your stamping stuff arrives soon - having familiar things around you will help you settle in. I got a bit carried away with you first challenge - but I hope you like them.

    Love Kim

Oh my lordy! Nothing like leaving these things until the last minute!! I mangaged to make it, photograph it, edit it, upload it and blog about it in about 40mins to try and make the deadline! It’s a pretty poor effort - I think I’m going to have to revist this in the next few days for my own sanity!

    xx
