Inkspirations Challenges Round-up for 2009!

 Happy Friday Folks!

I am totally still in shock about our property sale! Thanks so much for your Congratulations, it means so much. Reality has really hit home, and well it is now out with the lists, and to- do’s and what not, if we are to get to Cairns in time. We booked our, ONE WAY flights……that was pretty weird ordering them one way!!!  We are now scheduled to fly out of Perth on Tuesday the 19th January at 10:50pm and will arrive in the early hours of the Wednesday! Now that really does make it real, and there is so much to do yet. I feel good about what we have managed to get done so far, but I still have these mini panics, and keep asking myself, “what are we doing?” It is so foreign for us to leave the place you have always called home. We have both grown up in Perth and have our families here, so yeah it will be quite the adjustment. I will just have to take it one day at a time :)

So can you believe it is the end of the year? Crazy huh? Well it is also that end of the Inkspirations challenges for 2009 too. I was so pleased so many of you managed to get a gorgeous creation done considering it is that crazy time of year……so thank you!

Going through the entries and picking one, each week is really hard - you are all so good! This weeks Inkspirations winner is Genevieve, with her gorgeous owl creation! I also love how she has turned the sketch into a long card as well! Just gorgeous Genevieve!

Then this weeks honourable mention is Denise Marzec! I love how Denise has worked the sketch into a recipe card! How clever of her, and I love the DSP and stamp Denise has used too!

Again here is the slide show of all the challenge entries from this week! Be sure to check them out.

Once again I would like to say a very BIG thank you to everyone that took the time to participate in the Inkspirations Challenges this year! I have had a great time, and I hope you have too! We will be back on the 15th of January for the first challenge of the New Year!

Have a great night and thanks for stopping by!

The four letter word that changed my life…….

Published by Makeesha under Chitchat with Keesh

Hey peeps,

You know what we all think when we say, oh it was a four letter word??!! Yep something from the gutter no less! But I am here today to tell you about the four letter word that has changed my life! Want to know what it is??? Get ready for it………

Yep, I can hardly believe it myself…….that Sold sticker is on the sign at the front gate of our property!!! It has all happened so very fast (well it took over a year, but fast as in 4 days since they viewed the property etc) and well for the past 24 hours I have been emotional overwrought! It is so very exciting and relieving to know that we know that we can now move etc…. but it is going to be so very hard to pack, and say goodbye to family and friends as well!!! I have been feeling nauseous ever since we got the call!

It is so amazing how God works!!! We have been praying all year that we would be able to sell by the time the kids finish school, and well today was the day they finished school, I mean we did think it might happen earlier, but God was teaching us to be patient and to rely solely on Him………Talk about perfect, and precise timing!!! LOL!

So now we have the HUGE job of getting packed up, things loaded into a container, finding accommodation, new school prep with books and uniforms, and oh so much more! I think it will be a good thing that we are so busy as if I think about leaving everyone too much, I will be an emotional mess :)

Anyway I just wanted to share our news, and here again is the wonderful sign at the front of our property….!

“God sovereignly works all things according to His will”, Eph 1:11 - What a wonderful reminder!

Have a great night!

Raspberry Suite Mojolicious…..

Me again!

I so should be in bed right now, but I am all pumped for some reason…..(more on that tomorrow!) but anyway I just relized that this card I created for the lovely Dawn McAvey’s colour challenge is due um like right now! So thought I better whip up this post for ya!

The Raspberry Suite colour challenge # 20 was to use, Kraft, Rust, Chocolate, Vanilla, and a light blue…..quite a lovely masculine colour palette hey? So I wanted to make a masculine Valentines card, or you could use if for anniversary to, or if you are just feeling very amorous at the moment! LOL!

So here is the heartfelt lov-ee card I created using the new I heart, Hearts stamp set from Stampin’Up.

Okay so here I have used the Kraft cardstock for the base, and the striped Chocolate chip DSP. I cut the circles and scallops with my nestabilities. I ruffled the Chocolate grosgrain ribbon, and added a strip of Really rust cardstock. The hearts are stamped up with the I heart, Hearts stamp set, and mounted with dimensionals. Last of all I added the paper piercing and the greeting which is from the, Three little words stamp set with Chocolate ink…….

This is a card I LOVE. Occasionally you make something you are really chuffed with, and I don’t know what it is about this one, but yeah it does it for me! LOL!

Okay so the next creation is using this weeks Mojo Mondaysketch, along with Stampingbella’s challenge to use anything with Faux stitching…..

I used Old olive!!!! That is a colour I have been really really struggling with the past 6 months!!! It is just so strong, and SOOOOO green! I had to hide most of it with the DSP!

Here I have used some Basic grey DSP (the name alludes me right now!) and the stamp is from Stampingbella, which I have coloured with my Copic markers. I once again used my Nestabilities, and paper pieced the umbrella. I added the Pink taffeta ribbon, and Pretty in pink brads for embellishment. Lastly I used my Mat pack and white gel pen to create the Faux stitching around the outer perimeter of the card.

Thanks so much Dawn for the colour challenge, and Mojo Monday for the fabulous sketch challenge!

Have a great night everyone…..I am finally off to bed! :)

A new stamp set….

Published by Makeesha under 3-D Items, Cards

Hey there!

Thanks for all the get well wishes! I really appreciate it, and I am happy to say that the fam is all back to normal :) Tomorrow is the very last day for the School year, and I can hardly believe it! Where has this year gone? Does anybody know? The kids are most excited about the school holidays……me? Well I am looking forward to them, but I am going to have to get creative on how to entertain 4 kids for 6 weeks! Good thing it is so hot here right now, we can go to the pools, or swim in our dam….hmmmm time will tell I am sure!

As you know we just had the release of the brand new Summer mini from Stampin’Up.( you can view it by clicking on the cover on my right hand side toolbar) and with a new mini comes new stamps, and goodies!!!

One of the new stamp sets is called, “For everything” and is rather cute. I actually received this stamp set at this years Incentive Trip as a free gift which was nice. I have just pulled it out to have a play around with, and wanted to share what I made with you.

First off I made this card:

Another new colour combo I am enjoying lately, Chocolate chip, So saffron, and Regal rose. I stamped the background with the Polka dot background stamp, with Chocolate ink. I have used the spiral punch on the saffron cardstock, and distressed with my cutter kit. The greeting is from the Best yet stamp set. I have added the dsp from Stampin’Up’s scrapping kit, Love sparkles, and topped it with Regal rose grosgrain ribbon and tied it off with a large button and thread.

Next off I created a little 4 x 4 inch card, which is a bit more classic in colour choice:

Here I have the new spotty red ribbon, and the greeting is from the Really retro stamp set which I embossed with white embossing powder. I have coloured the image with my Copic markers, and topped them off with some glitter.

This next creation is so “not me” cuz it is bright….. but hey some of you love bright, so thought rather than toss it in the bin, I would share it:

See? told you it was bright! I have used the Turquoise cardstock, and the Pink flamingo DSP from Stampin’Up. The ribbon is also turquoise blue grosgrain ribbon.

Then last of all I made a wee little goodie bag holder, which are sooooo easy to whip up! I have done a photo tutorials of these a while back, and if you want to make one too, you can view the tutorial HERE!

Here I have used Taken with teal, Real red, and Whisper white cardstock. I stamped the different images, and coloured with Copic markers. I have also used my scallop, and 1 inch circle punches, and added some paper piercing as well. I tied off the bag of lollies with the Red polka dot ribbon from Stampin’Up.

So there you have a wee sample of the new stamp set, For everything! I hope you liked them :)

Weekend sketches….

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

Hey Peeps,

I hope you are well and having a good start to the week! Things here haven’t been all that fun! On Friday I came down with gastro, which then went onto Mali, and then Tiarne as well. So far no one else has it, but you know gastro, it is so contagious! Each year we get it about 4 times, but this weekend made it 5! Don’t you think that is a little unfair? LOL! Ah well it is so much easier now the kids are older, they tend to be able to keep themselves clean if you know what I mean.

So I wanted to get this post up yesterday, but with have two sick kidlets, I just didn’t manage to. I have been working on more sketches..,,.yet again! LOL! This time I did Lori Craig’ssketch she did for the Splitcoast weekend sketch group, then Taylor’s, and finally Jen’s sketch.

First up is the sketch from Lori Craig:

I wanted to work on a masculine card, and this is what I ended up with. I have used Basic grey cardstock for the base, a strip of DSP from My minds eye, and then two cut outs of nestabilities. The main stamp is the Damask stamp from the Friends 24/7 stamp set, and the greeting is a plain jane stamp from Verve. I have stamped the damask with Stazon ink, and cut it out, lastly I layered it with a thick coating of Crystal effects to make it glossy. I added some basic grey ribbon for embellishment.

Okay next I have a card using Taylor’s sketch:

This is a Stampin’Up only card. I used Real red cardstock, and the Ski slope DSP. The stamp I used is called Holiday lineup…love this stamp set from Stampin’Up which I coloured with my Copic markers. I added an arrangement of buttons, and some Old olive wide grosgrain ribbon. The greeting is my hand writing.

Then last off, I did Jen’s sketch:

I often see Jen stamp and colour on Kraft cardstock, and I have meaning to give it a go….,..love the result of that! Here I have used Old olive cardstock for the base, and the DSP is from My minds eye. The stamp is a Turtle tots stamp from Stampingbella which I coloured with my Copic markers. The greeting is from the same stamp, and I have attached it with a mini library clip.  And lastly I added some paper piercing.

So there you have some sketch cards! Thanks ladies for the great sketches!

On another quick note, we had people through our house this morning for their second visit, so we are eagerly awaiting some news……it is sooooo hard to not think about it and to just wait and see! Please pray that they will be the ones, as it would be such a relief to be over the house opens and what not! Thanks!

Have a great day!
