Plenty of news!

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Family

Happy Monday everyone! (whoops, didn’t quite get this post finished, so it is now published on Tuesday!)

I love Mondays! I know that sounds a little weird when most people are grieving that the weekend is over, but for me it is a chance to get my house back in order after the weekend. With 4 kids things don’t stay neat for long, and then there is lots of noise, and we are usually entertaining guests as well. SO, on Mondays I get in and clean, bake, do washing, ironing etc, and make plans for the week.

Today was great too, because I got sooooo much done! The kids went back to school after holidays today, so i think that had a lot to do with it….LOL! We had wonderful holidays though. It was such wonderful weather and the kids really enjoyed playing outside in the sunshine. We did some fun activities and on Thursday off we went to Scitech, which is a science discovery centre. It was a very fun day. Since I had the kids all dressed up, I wanted to take the time to take some photos of them, as I need then for an upcoming project I am working on, and well I thought I would share them with you all.

Here are my four little munchkins lined up together:

All together in the back garden

Then at the stairs at the front Veranda:

in the reverse direction.

And here are some individual portraits…..

Tiarne….

Elijah….

Malakai….

And last of all Janaya…..

I got so many great photos, but i am sure I would bore you silly with all my motherly boasting! Then I took a couple more whilst we went to Scitech….

This is Elijah riding a bicycle as fast as he can to generate as much power to light up the lights on the board. Each light represents the power it would require to run the equipment displayed alongside the light…. ie, a microwave etc..

And here is Mali winding up this machine to generate some other kind of power…..it slips my mind exactly what this one was…

Then last of all we have a picture of the three of them jumping up and down on these boxes which again generates power for a stereo to play music.

We also went to the Omni theatre, which is one of those slanted seating theatres, with a big dome screens to simulate that you are actually moving, to see a film all about the planets and meteors etc. I can’t really tell you if it was all that good, because would you believe that I fell asleep during it??? LOL! Tiarne woke me up at the end and proceeded to tell me how ‘embarrassing” it was to have your mother fall asleep, and of course my reply was, “that is my job to embarrass you!” LOL!

All in all it was a fun day and i did manage to hobble around with my big boot on. Talking of my gorgeous boot, I got the all clear on Friday to take it off! WOO HOO~! I still have to take it very easy and only wear closed in shoes for the time being…..and no jogging either :( It is still very tender, but it is so good to be rid of that heavy boot. I got Rod to take a piccie of me with it on so I can show you what i have been sporting the past 6 weeks!

Now is that just a “STUNNING” piece of footwear??!! NOT! :)

And here is part of the steep set of stairs that have been crawling and hobbling up and down (on my butt I might add) to get to my stamping nook and master bedroom for the past 9 weeks! I am sooo looking forward to being able to run up them again!!!

Okay so I have another little funny post about something that happened the other day……actually consider, it more of a warning……..Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

The story goes a little like this. I was having a late night shower, and Rod was brushing his teeth before heading off to bed. I was enjoying this said hot shower, and unwinding from the busy day. I then got out my body scrub ball, and lathered it up with shower gel……you know these two things:

I LOVE my body wash…….maybe a little too much, because the next thing I know, I am lathered up, and there are bubbles everywhere! Then all of a sudden I moved and in a flash of a second my feet slip and come up from under me! I am sliding and trying to grab the walls as I am heading down at the speed of a missile, oh but no they are covered in body wash suds as well. Before I knew it I was grabbing the door which in turn went flying open hitting Rod as I fall, and then splat I hit the bottom of the shower in a complete 90 degrees from where I started with one leg up the shower wall, and the other one twisted behind me! I sat there and burst out laughing, which I think was a bit of a relief to Rod, as he thought by the way I fell I was sure to have broken the other ankle!!! LOL! By now you are starting to realise that I am rather a big CLUTZ! :)

So next time you lather up your loofah ball with some shower gel, please be sure to go for a 10cent piece size of liquid rather than half a cup full that i must have used! hehe (I hope you get a wee little laugh at my expense with that story!)

Okay so the other snippet of news I have is that I have finished my detox! YAY! Talk about hard work, but it was such a good feeling to get to the end of the 10 days, and know that I did it without any form of cheating! Rod was real proud of me too, because he came home with these flowers for me, as a congratulations for completing the 10 days! Now just to stay away from all the nasties, like chocolate and caffeine……not as easy as it seems!

Also on Sunday it was my darling daughter Tiarne’s 10th Birthday!!! I truly can’t believe that I have a ten year old! I am only just 32, and well the time just goes by soooooo very fast. So if you have little ones, that yes drive you crazy, be sure to realise that it goes by way too fast. I was married at 20, had Tiarne just after I was 22, and vooooom the years have flown! We had a lovely day celebrating with family, and this week she is having a Pajama party with her friends from school.

Here is a photo of her on the day in her new Birthday outfit……

And then this is the Birthday card I made her…..(ah finally some stamping I here you say!)

Tiarne’s 10th Birthday card….

For this card I have used my Sweet Always DSP pack and Chocolate chip cardstock. The stamp is a Swiss Pixie stamp from All that Scraps, which I have coloured with my Copic markers, and then cut out with my Nestabilities. I dressed it up with some Rhinestone brads, and Regal rose grosgrain ribbon, and dazzling diamonds glitter. She absolutely loved it, so that was great!

I hope I haven’t bored you silly with all the news of what is going on in our lives here in Australia, but there have been lots of things happening around here, and I had fun sharing it all with you!

I promise to be back with some more stamping goodness real soon!

Have a great night!

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge # 14….

 Hello again!

Who is ready for another fun challenge? I loved this weeks sketch, and I have only made one creation, but I am sure going to be using it again this week, as I have ideas buzzing in my head for it…..so here is the challenge for this week - Sketch # 14:

Now see that butterfly….it doesn’t mean that you have to have a butterfly on your card but you need to have an element that is cut out and popped up so this it is a feature.

Here is my creation:

Now I really was trying to use a different colour combo for a change, no in-colours, or your typical DSP copy, I think it turned out okay. You can read the card recipe at the bottom of the post to see what materials I used to make this card.

Be sure to go and check out the Design Team members creations and give them some comment love!

Inkspirations Inspiration # 13 WINNER!…..

 well hello there!,

Here is this post for the second time! Yesterday I was typing up the post for you all, and just as I got to the end, my modem crashed, and well all that work was gone! Talk about very very frustrating! So I am sorry this and the new challenge was late, but we had commitments last night and I didn’t have time to fiddle around with the modem, and re-type the posts, I had pre- prepared :(

But better late than never, so lets get straight into it! This week I have been blown away with the amazing entries! I know it wasn’t the easiest inspriation image, but wow you guys really rocked this one! I have once again found it really hard to pick a winner! I think I am going to have to get the DT to pick a winner now and then as it gets harder each week! :) The one creation that really jumped out at me when I saw is was this fabulous card by Bec Gomez! I love how she has kept is clean and crisp, but still it really stands out! Here is Bec’s Fabulous creation:

This weeks Honourable Mention is the adorable creation by Paula Funston. I think you will agree that this is a pretty clever, and fun card and a wonderful gift to give someone! Fabulous idea Paula, and thanks for sharing it with us!

So be sure to check out all the other AMAZING creations in the Slide show. I am about to upload the new challenge too, so I hope you can join us this week. OH and I have SOOOOO much else to share with you, so I will be back with a fun post soon too. ~ Stay tuned :)

A set of sketches…..

Published by Makeesha under Cards

 Howdy folks,

I hope you are keeping well and enjoying your week so far. I am LLUUURRRVVVIIIINNNN that it is school holidays at the moment! It has been so great to take the days a little slower, and enjoy a sleep in or two! Thankfully it is beautiful weather, so the kids have all enjoyed some play time outside. I should take pictures of their adventures to share with you!

Okay so remember I said I had made some other cards that i wanted to share? Finally getting them photographed and edited to share with you. I have worked with 3 different sketches from the weekend, Taylor’s, Jen’s, and Beate. They were all fabulous!

So first I will show you the card I made using Taylors sketch which you can see HERE:

Don’t those cupcakes look delicious! Probably so much more delicious for me, seeing as I have been Detoxing for the past 9 days, and haven’t eaten an ounce of sugar! LOL!
For this card I have used my Stampin’Up Sweet always DSP paper pack, along with My Favorite things Cupcake stamp, which I have coloured with my Copic markers. I dressed it up with some Regal rose ribbon, and the circles with a greeting from Paper trey’s Greetings set with Chocolate chip ink.  I love that saying…..LIVE your bliss, and I think is worked a treat with the cupcakes. Rod asked me what that meant, all puzzled…LOL!

Okay so moving onto the next creation, for this one I have used the Weekend Sketch from Beate. I haven’t played one of Beate’s sketches for ages, so this was fun! You can find the sketch HERE

For this card, I have used Basic grey for the base, and some Pink pirouette DSP from the Bella Rose paper pack. The stamp set if called Kind thoughts, and it is a retired SU stamp set from the States. I coloured the centre damask with my Copic markers, and then stamped the butterfly with Rose red ink, and blinged it up with Dazzling diamonds glitter. The greeting is also from the Papertrey Ink greetings stamp set which I stamped with Basic grey ink.

Then last of all I have used the fun sketch from Jen Del Muro. I had so many ideas for this one, but needed a birthday card, for our dear babysitter, Stephanie who turned sweet sixteen this week. You can see Jen’s sketch HERE:

Again I have tucked into that Sweet always DSP! I love that DSP! Okay so I have used Chocolate chip cardstock for the base, and then added the strips of DSP. I cut two circles out with my nestabilities. I have stamped the cupcake from Stampin’Up’s Crazy for cupcakes stamp set, and coloured it in with my Copic markers. The greeting is also from the same stamp set, which I have created a tag greeting for and topped it off with a button from the Button Latte box.

So there you have some fun sketches, and why not go and join in too! Now that I have shared them with you, I will have to go back and stamp some more, so I have something to share soon!

Take care!

A Successful Combination….

Published by Makeesha under Cards

 Hey there everyone!

Monday again, and what a weekend we had…… :) It was such lovely weather over the weekend, and the days have definitely turned into sunny spring days full of sunshine! It is amazing what a bit of sunshine can do to your mood! Rod took the 4 kids on a bush camping trip on Friday night with some other friends. I didn’t go, for a couple of reasons, 1. I am absolutely pertried of being in the bush (yup totally weird, but oh so strong!) and 2. I couldn’t quite work out how i would be able to wander around the bush with my broken ankle, and very sexy moon boot I am sporting! So i actually had 21 hours to myself! it was totally weird at first, but then I really just soaked up all that peace and quiet!!! I had a wonderful sleep, and got up, cleaned the house, and then went to the gym. I then had time to have lunch and blog surf in silence, before they all came home. What fun they had too. Hey I kept saying that was a fabulous idea honny, and feel free to do it anytime you please ( just as long as you take all of them….LOL!)  I LOVE my kids, but I love them more when I get a break every once in a while ( I am sure you all know what I mean)

So anyway whilst I had this peace and quiet, I actually made some time to stamp * insert shocked face* and well that Mojo that has been on a hiatus this past 2 months, I think it came back for a visit. I actually stamped and liked what i made! YAY at last, as I had fears of giving up for lack of creativity for good!

Anyway I had a play with Amy Rysavy’s sketch for this week, and combined it with Dawn McAvey’s colour challenge for this week…..oh such delicious colours too!

Here are the sketches, and the inspiration colours to work with:

Amy’s Sketch…

Dawn’s colours….

And then here is what I have put together using both:

Isn’t that the cutest dog??!! The cutie is from a stamp set called, Man’s best friend from Stampin’Up (retired). A dear friend of mine in the US sent it to me as a gift as I just loved those wee doggies!!! I am so not a dog person ( although i cried watching Marley and Me) not seriously I am NOT a dog person, but these wee stamps are adorable! I have also used my new Spellbinders Nestabilities to cut the circles out. The rest of the card details will be list in the recipe box below.

I actually made several other things too, but I can’t show you them all at once, or I won’t have anything else to blog about! LOL! So be sure to come back for those in a day or two.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and have a great night too!
