Stamp Camp ‘09

Howdy everyone!

I have just had the best weekend at the Stamparoos Stamp Camp!!! My ribs are still sore from all the laughing we did over the weekend :) It is great therapy for the soul to have a good dose of belly laughs and that we did. I smile every time I think of it!

Here is a photo of all of us, that attended the camp:

You can spot me on the back row to the far right…..

Not only was the company fabulous, the stamping was unbelievable too. We had 31 Shoe box swaps to get done on Friday night……busy, busy, busy. Some fabulous ideas there too! Here is the card I had as my shoebox swap:

For this creation I have used the Inspired by Nature, Cute and Curly and the Great Friend stamp sets, which are all from Stampin’Up. The colours are Very vanilla, Kraft, Close to cocoa, Baja breeze, and Not quite navy.

On Saturday we had a couple of different talented demonstrators teach classes. We started the day make an “I wish’ album that is designed by Andrea Walford. It is an adorable little album. Instead of making my album with the ‘I wish’ Scrapbooking kit from Stampin’Up, I used the Love sparkles one. I haven’t put photos in it yet, but you will get the idea from the layout and the colours etc…..

Here is the front cover:

And here are some of the pages that I have decorated with the kits diecuts and dsp….

Inside front cover….

Cute hey! I can’t wait to get photos of the girls into this album. Thanks Lou, and Andrea for showing us how to make this adorable album!!! (ps, you can buy the instructions to this album from www.andreawalford.com )

The next class we had was from my dear friend, and partner in crime, Charmaine Black…. Char showed us a technique called Acrylic Smoosh……yeah it is a weird name, but when you do it you understand why it is called that. It is a technique to great fabulous backgrounds on your cardstock. We did a 8 x 8 scrapbook page which has an antique look. I haven’t a photo for this one either yet, but you will get the idea of how the background paper looks like:

See that multi-coloured background? That is what we created with the Acrylic Smoosh…

Then the last class for Saturday was by Jan White (she doesn’t have a blog). We made these adorable fold up boxes…..It is hard to explain, but the gorgeous photos tell it all!

This is the outside of the box, and then wait for the magic….

When you take the lid off, and swing open the box, you have 4 tiered boxes on top of each other. It is like a cute little stationery stand, or you can put chocolates in there and make it a cute little gift! I know these boxes have a particulare name, but I honestly do not know what they are called ( if someone does know, could you please let me know! thanks!)

We were really blessed with a fun weekend, of stamping, learning and being creative! I am sooooo thankful for all the wonderful friends I have made through Stampin’Up and am thankful to Ngaire my Upline who put the whole camp together! Thank you Ngaire!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing the fun camp creations!

Have a great night / day!

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge # 14 WINNER!….

Published by Makeesha under Sketch Challenges

 Hey there everyone!

I truly can not believe that it is Friday and that the kids have been back to school for one week already! That means there is only 9 left and it is the school year done! Unbelievable!

Did you know that it is only 10 weeks till Christmas today? Yup, that isn’t long is it? Time to start thinking of those Christmas creations to be made :)

Okay so again I had heaps of fun viewing all the entries for the Sketch Challenge this week, and leaving some comment love!

This weeks Challenge winner is the very lovely Lee-Anne Barry! I am sure you will agree that this creation is totally amazing! I LOVE how Lee-Anne has coloured the background around the floral image, and how she has only partially dry embossed the whisper white cardstock with the polka dots etc….

Here is her amazing creation:

Then this weeks honourable mention goes to Nicole Derendorf for this amazing creation. I love how Nicole has turned the sketch around, and has the coffee maker and cup at the pop up image! Just perfect Nicole!

Thanks to everyone who played along! It was a fun sketch to work with, and I hope you had fun. Here is a slide show of all the other entries…..be sure to check them out!

Take care peeps…

One Sketch, Four Styles…..

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

Hey everyone!

Oh it was so much fun reading all your comments about my recent ‘Plenty of news’ post! I am so pleased that I could be the brunt of all your laughing!!! I knew it was a silly story, but hey if you can’t laugh at yourself now and then, then life would be dull! Thanks too for all your birthday wishes for Tiarne and Congrats for finishing the detox! Right about now, life is really good, and I have SO much to be thankful for :)

Today’s post is a little bit of fun too. I have taken a sketch from the very talented Taylor Vanbruggen from Taylored Expressions, and duplicated it into 4 different styles. This way you can see that a sketch is a spring board for all sorts of different creations! I had so much fun last night whipping up these creations, I didn’t want to stop!

So here is the sketch that I worked with:

Okay so for the first creation, I have used a fun, sweet sensation cupcake, with coordinating papers. I would call this style, Classic because it is clean, and crisp with minimal embellishments, with one main focal point…that being the Cupcake!

For this card I have used the Cupcake stamp from MFT, along with some Sweet Always DSP from Stampin’Up. The greeting is a rub-on, and I have used my Copic markers to colour in the cupcakes.

The next creation is what I would call a more Vintage style. The use of more muted colours, distressing and layering of ink creates a more older style embellishments, like pearls.

For this creation I have used the Echoes of Kindness stamp set from Stampin’Up, with their Parisian breeze specialty designer paper. I have water coloured the floral stem, and layered up the flowers, adding some Dazzling diamonds glitter for a little bit of bling. Lastly I have ruffled the satin ribbon, distressed all the edges, and used half pearly on the base DSP.

Moving onto another style, which is hard to call it something, but I would tend to think this creation falls more into a Sweet Bella style. The sweet little girl, similar to Hollie hobby, has a sweet innocence to her.

This creation is a slight alteration to the sketch, as I have changed it to be a square card rather than rectangle. The stamp is Tilda with hearts from Magnolia Stamps. I have coloured her with my Copic markers, and the greeting is from the Three little words stamp set from Stampin’Up. I have matched the stamp up with the Sweet slumber specialty DSP from Stampin’Up.

Another fun style to work with is Retro. Owls, and birds are really popular at the moment. Seeing as they are a blast from the past, they work really well with Retro, which tends to have bolder images.

For this creation I have used the Good friend stamp set from Stampin’Up, along with the Good morning sunshine DSP, The colours are Pacific point, Kiwi kiss, and More mustard. The greeting is from the Basic phrases stamp set. I have embellished with some Kiwi satin ribbon, and some fun kiwi buttons to match.

I hope you have enjoyed viewing these creations as much as I have making them…….

Leave me a comment and let me know what YOUR favourite stamping style is!

Have a wonderful day!

Take care peeps……

Love Keesh
