YAY…..I stamped!

Published by Makeesha at 6:32 am under Cards

Happy Monday everyone……

Is it just me or did that weekend just whizz by super fast? I really don’t know what happens to the hours of the day, but it surely seems like there are less hours each week. I just know it won’t get any better either with Christmas only 13.5 weeks away! hmmmm I will have to start thinking of some Christmas projects won’t I.

I have had a few people say to me of late…” I see you are slowing down, by the looks of your blog”, and well I suppose you have all seen it too. I don’t want to appear to be making excuses, because the reality is that I just have had to put time to other things other than stamping, and blogging, and you know what? It feels really good. I have a house that is spotless, and a happy foster boy staying with us, I am far less stressed, and things are going well. Whilst I LOVE stamping, and sharing what I make, I have really come to see that a balanced life is far more beneficial for myself and the family. So whilst I would LOVE to be doing weekly tutorials, scrap pages and the like, I intend to take a little step back from those things for the time being. I hope this way I will feel re inspired, as I have had zero Mojo of late, and I can’t remember the last time I just made something just because I felt like it. Too often I am stamping to create projects for a class, workshop, or things for the blog. I am really hoping that if i get time to just stamp for me, I will rejuvenate that creative side of me, as well as have fun and exciting things to share!

I had a little taste of that on the weekend, when I stamped with some dear friends of mine. I created a couple of cards, which I have finally photographed.

Here is a card I made using the Swiss Pixie stamp from All that Scraps that I have coloured with my Copic markers:

and of close of this wee gorgeous gal…

Then i was lucky enough to borrow Julie’s new Owl stamp, which is just adorable. I put it together with the Parisian breeze DSP once I had finished colouring the images:

So there you have a couple of fun little creations I have made. I hope you likes :)

Love Keesh

Great cards Keesh! I have that owl stamp too, and it is just the cutest! I also adore that little Pixie stamp … I may have to add that one to my wishlist! LOL
I am glad to see that you are doing some ‘fun’ stamping, and I hope it helps restore your mojo!

oooooh these are soooo cute. That owl card is delish, those cheeky owls and that little caterpillar on the branch are so sweet. I am so inspired by your use of your copics Keesh. I am totally loving mine, they are such a joy to work with aren’t they? It’s strange for me to have 144 colours to choose from and can blend and shade all I want and never get bored. They are slightly addictive aren’t they though, but they are fun!! lol lol Glad you took time out to stamp for yourself, ‘that’s a good thing’!! Sally :)

Gorgeous little cards Keesh. Good to hear you are slowing down a little and working out your priorities. No wonder you’ve had a bit of a mojo-meltdown - you had a lot going on….and still do no doubt. Enjoy stepping back and finding the joy in stamping/creating again. I’m sure it will come in time:-) xL

It is so important to get that life balance, good for you doing something about it! I just recently resigned from my regular 9 to 5 job due to high stress and blood pressures levels that were being strongly influenced by the work environment. Since making this drastic decision (as it appeared to many!) I have been required to deal with other family situations that would not have been easy to manage should I have been still working. I have also now had to take on a full-time carer role for my mother-in-law and again this would not have been possible while I was working. The effort I put into my blog and workshops also added to my pressures and so I have tried to balance these out more as well. I believe we need to enjoy life and all that it has to offer us, whether it is of our direct choosing or an obligation we need to fulfill but still keeping a healthy and happy balance! Does this make sense to you as I just wanted to know that your situation is completely understood and you should be supported in whatever steps you need to take to keep this balance.
    Sorry for the lengthy comment!

Can’t believe Christmas is so close, thanks for the reminder. Glad your foster boy is settling in. I bet he is just loving having 4 other kids to play with. Love the glitter wings on your pixie stamp and the sentiment done on a semi circle, a lovely idea and those owls are too cute. Love their big dinner plate eyes, lol. Take care

I love your cards keesh they are so cute. I think taking a step back is a great idea, life does become a bit hectic with the stamping, classes and workshops, and I totally agree that it is nice to stop and stamp something you want to do for a change. Hi Keesh,

it sounds like you really enjoyed the chance to stamp so your Mojo can’t be too far away - the cards are really lovely, stylish layouts and I love the rich bright colours. I could never figure out how you managed to do all that did before anyway, regardless, what ever you do do I will enjoy seeing and getting inspiration from.

    Love Kim

  23. Joon 23 Sep 2009 at 3:46 am

Keesh - congrats on making the tough decision to step back a little. We only get the one chance at this life, and we need to take time for us to de-stress. The most important person in your children’s life is you (and their dad) - so you need to look after you. Relax and enjoy!! And gorgeous cards, Love Jo

  24. Jenon 23 Sep 2009 at 5:05 am

Love your cards and acknowledge your post of honesty.
May your life continue to be blessed at a slower rate and may in time if it works and be your wish to pick up the pieces of a hobby you love:) take Keesh and hope your pains are slowing and your ankle/foor healing. Hope you can stamp at your leisure without the pressure. May your family life continue to blossom:) xx

    Hi Keesh!
These are too cute! And I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling a little better after a rest. Balance is the key!! I’m right there with you….trying to catch up from being away last week, and getting ready to go away again. Stamping is being squeezed in the middle LOL! I hope your foot is continuing to heal. I’m thinking about you & can’t wait to talk with you again….maybe after the 23rd?? :-)
    Take care!!

Well you already know how I feel about all of this from our lovely chat. I’m really proud of you. Sometimes it’s harder to slow down than just keep going. Amazing what happens when you peel back the layers to the things that really matter most. Go you :)
