Convention Project Parade Day 2

Published by Makeesha under Cards

 Hello everyone,

Sorry to keep you waiting today! I know you are probably hanging out to see what the Mystery blog candy was for today, as well as to know WHO WON!

We have had company for dinner tonight……Yep Rod’s brother Ivan has a new girlfriend, and we all got to meet for the first time. Actually she is just lovely and here on a working Visa from Winnipeg Canada. SO of course I had to make it special, and whipped up a Lasagna for dinner, and all the rest, so I got a little delayed :)

Okay first off the Blog Candy is, the stamp set that has been mentioned the most as being the newest Favourite stamp set from the new Idea Book and Catty. SO that definitely would be the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set! WOO HOO, that is my fave too, along with so many other too of course!

Anyhoo, so who has won? Random Generator picked 39!

And going through the 73 comments, that means the winner is Richelle! - with this comment…….

  • Hi, like so many others have said, how can u expect us just to pick 1 fav from the new catty… I have sooo many on my wishlist and after seeing ur cute cards, I’ve added crazy for cupcakes to my wishlist…
But at the moment my fav set is Eastern Blooms, I was soo happy to see it in the new catty after ordering it from the mini cat last year :)

  • Congrats Richelle, you have won your very own Fifth avenue floral stamp set! If you could contact me, so that I can arrange to get it sent out to you asap!

    Now for the parade, I am going to show you the cards I had done with the Fifth Avenue Floral. I thought I had done more than two, but nope, two it was, so here they are;

    Number 1:

I love these colours together, which are Regal rose, Basic grey, and Baja breeze. I have used the Tres Chic background stamp, and the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp sets, both from Stampin’Up. The ribbon is from the Ribbon original pack called Valet, and I have used my scallop edge punch, and added some Pretty in pink brads.

    Number 2:

This card has a similar colour combo, but using Pink pirouette instead of the Regal rose. I have embossed the roses on the base card of Basic grey with Clear embossing powder, and I have watercoloured the large rose with Baja breeze ink and my aquapainter. I have used paper piercing, and the Pink pirouette ribbon for embellishment.

So there you have Todays Project Parade………. and now for your new question for the next Blog Candy!

    Q. What is your most favourite Stampin’Up Colour Combo (ie, certainly celery, pretty in pink, apricot, and white?)

I can’t wait to hear what your faves are…..it might be inspiring!

    Have a good night!

    Take a pic Tuesday # 12

Published by Makeesha under Take a pic Tuesday

     Hi Ya,

Well by the looks of my In-box you are all loving the Mystery Blog Cany idea!!! I can’t wait to pick a winner this afternoon, and do the Project parade again!

So again we are back to the Take a pic tuesday……my album was growing so well, and hmmmmm has taken a little stand still for the past month or so, but it will be great to get back to building it again.

Recently I took some photos of the kids, which is so great for memories as they grow so very fast. I want to scrap each of them and load them into the album. So for the next 4 weeks I have photos of the kids, and then I am going to work on a few Convention photos because that is a HUGE highlight in my year :)

I am starting at the bottom and will work up. So that means I have my darling daughter Janaya. I know I often call her my Monkey, and well she is that indeed! Recently we had a new person (an older gentleman) visit our place. Janaya goes up to the said Gentleman and says, “What’s your name…..My name is Janaya and I am Mummy’s Monkey”…..Hmm it seems we have said that one time too many times around here. LOL!

I don’t know where she got that cheeky grin from??

Well I look forward to showing you my scrapped photos of Janaya on Saturday!

    Make it Monday # 33!

WOW it certainly has been some weeks since I have typed the words Make it Monday! But even more suprising that this is number 33~ :) I really can’t believe that I have now written 33 tutorials especially because they were something I was a bit daunted by, but I have really grown to love them!

So for this re-introduction to Make it Monday, and seeing as it is the Convention Project parade starting today…..and not to mention I have had a HEAP of requests for it……

I am going to show you how to put together a Double slider card. I did this on stage at Convention, and I am sure it would have been hard to take notes, so here is a photographic step by step tutorial for it, that you can all use.

    Double Slider Card:

    Materials required:

    • Stamps
    • A4 carstock
    • Crop-a-dile
    • Scissors
    • 1 3/8 circle punch
    • Word window punch
    • Pencil
    • Dimensionals
    • 1/2 ” circle punch
    • Ribbon
    • Twine
    • Pearls, or buttons
    • Designer series paper

    Step 1:

Cut your A4 sheet of cardstock vertically in half and then fold it in half.

    Step 2:

Take a pencil and mark 1 inch in from the folded centre side of the cardstock. Then mark again with the pencil 2 inches in from the open end.

    Step 3:

Take your Word window punch and  push it in at the side of the cardstock as far in as it will go, then punch the length in between the two pencil lines. You will punch once and then actually slide it along a little and then punch again to get the long window.

    Step 4:

On the inside apply double sided tape as close to the edges as possible on both edges.

    Step 5:

Take a smaller piece of co ordinating cardstock and line it up perfectly to the top of the carstock in the centre on the side that has the windows punched out.

    Step 6:

Then punch a half circle with your 1 3/8 circle punch (with the two sheets of cardstock at the same time) and save the half circle in the opposite colour to the base.

    Step 7:

Cut a 5 inch by 3.5 inch piece of cardstock and a slightly smaller piece of DSP to sit on top. Then cut a 2.5 inch by 3.75 inch piece of cardstock and another slightly smaller for your message. I have used the greeting from the Occasional greetings stamp set.

    Step 8:

Take that half circle and adhere it to the centre of the large piece, punch a large hole in the centre with your cardstock with your Crop-a-dile. Feed some ribbon through and tie off with some twine, and a pearl or button.

    Step 8:

Take the cardstock and lay in into the centre of the open cardstock, making sure that it lines up with the top edge of the base card.

    Step 9:

Fold up the the top. The half circle will line up perfectly because you punched them out at the same time. Also you will notice I have stamped the large rose stamp from Stampin’Up’s Fifth Avenue floral stamp set on the front, and I have clear embossed it.

    Step 10:

Punch out four circles of cardstock with the 1/2 inch circle punch. Then add a Dimensional to each circle.

    Step 11:

Carefully lay the first dots with the dimensionals on the underside onto the cardstock piece in the bottom.

    Step 12:

Take the front panel and carefully pull those circles through so that they now lay under the front panel.

    Step 13:

Take the other two circles and adhere them with the Dimensionals facing onto the circles on the underneath panel. This creates the slider, for the two circles to slide up and down the window slots:

    Step 14:

Add Mini glue dots to the outside of the circles, then adhere your smaller piece of cardstock which is used for your greeting:

This is what it should look like once your piece is attached to the front.

    Step 15:

Take some co ordinating cardstock, stamps, ribbon etc, and a piece of cardstock that measures 4 inches by 3.5 inches. This is your front panel. I have used the Urban Oasis paper, Basic grey taffeta ribbon, and the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set which I have watercoloured.

Then adhere it to the front with thin pieces of dimensionals so that it is raised above the greeting piece of cardstock. It should just cover it.

    The Front of the card:

    The slider pulled out:

    The finshed product :)

I hope that was clear enough and you are keen to now go and make one. They certainly have a great WOW factor. I did also make a couple others which you can view on this post HERE.

Well that is the Make it Monday for this week, and boy it feels good to have done one again!

    Have a good night!

    Love Keesh

I have also used my Stampin’write markers to colour and some dazzling diamonds glitter to dress it up. The greeting has been stamped with Versamark and embossed with White embossing powder. Lastly I added the Regal rose ribbon, and paper piercing along the bottom.

    Number 3:

And some bright masculine fun too. I have used the On your birthday and Crazy for cupcakes stamp sets from Stampin’Up. Then the DSP is the Good Morning sunshine paper from Stampin’Up, and then I have added some More mustard ribbon, and Brilliant blue brads. The base cardstock is Pacific point, and I have stamped the cupcakes onto Whisper white cardstock.

    Number 4:

Another sweet cupcake stack! For this one I have used Chocolate chip, Regal rose, and Very vanilla cardstock, along with some DSP fron the Candy lane paper pack from Stampin’Up. I have added the greeting from the On your birthday stamp set, punched out with my Oval punches and mounted with dimensionals. I have also used some wide Regal rose grosgrain ribbon and Pretty in pink brads for embellishment.

    Number 5:

A single cupcake for this one. I have used Ruby red, Baja breeze, So saffron and Whisper white for this colour combo. The papers are a mix of Designer prints and the old Ginger blossoms paper packs. I have used White taffeta ribbon, and Ruby red brads, along with some paper piercing and glitter for embellishment.

So have I made you hungry with all those cupcakes?

Crazy for cupcakes is one of my new Favourite stamp sets from the New catalog. Now here is your question to win the Mystery Blog Candy………

    Q. What is your new Fave stamp set from the New Idea Book & Catalog?

Each answer will have the opportunity to win the Mystery Blog Candy. I will be picking a winner tomorrow afternoon using Random.org, and will show you the Blog candy. Also there will be the next Convention Project Parade, and another question for you!
