Amy Rysavy Sketch # 62

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

Well this week, I managed to whip up a card for Amy’s sketch this week! It is a fabulous sketch and I will be using this one again for sure.

I also had fun using some new colours and stamps from the very anticipated New Idea book & Catalog!

Here is Amy’s sketch for this week:

Here is my wee birdie creation:

Ah isn’t that the cutest bird???!!! For this card I have used a brand new stamp set called Good friend from Stampin’Up. It is going to be in the brand new catty to be released on the 1st of April. I have also used the new In colours for this year, the blue being called Pacific point, and the green is called Kiwi kiss. I have also used the new Good morning Sunshine DSP paper pack which I cut into 3 1 inch strips. I then stamped the flowers onto Whisper white cardstock, and cut the bird out mounting it with dimensionals. Last of all I added the greeting from the Wonderful Favourites stamp set from Stampin’Up, and the More mustard grosgrain ribbon.

Thanks Amy for a wonderful sketch to work with!

I wasn’t too sure of the new in colours, but boy oh boy they are growing on me!!! I have now received my own copy of the New Idea book, and one word sums it all up………DELISH!!!! You are going to love it, I promise!

Remember the retired list is on it’s last days, so if you need anything be sure to let me know!

Have a good evening!

Make it Monday # 30

Hey you,

Well I had a request for a tutorial to make a Pyramid card (hey Leanne!) which I showed you back in December. I was shown how to make these at the Stamp Camp I went to for the Stamparoos team by the very talented Susan Joyce. I am not 100% sure if they are Sue’s creation or if she got them from somewhere else, I will have to clarify that, but they are fun and cute all the same.

So here is the Make it Monday for you!

Pyramid Card

Materials Required:

Step 1:

Cut 3 pieces of cardstock (two the same colour and one different) the measure 4 inches by 4 inches.

Step 2:

Score the 3 pieces right down one centre from one point to the bottom point

Step 3:

Take the two pieces that are the same colour, and place them with the two scored points meeting each other at the top, so that they make a point.

Step 4:

Take the other coloured cardstock and line it up with the scored line perfectly meeting the top point.

Step 5:

Then take that bottom left hand piece and lay it on top of the other coloured square.

Step 6:

Fold the cardstock at each of the scored lines. It will all fit into one another and make it a pyramid.

Step 7:

Tape the sides down, and it will stand up like so.

Step 8:

Take a 3 ¾ inch square piece of DSP and cut it completely in half so you have two pieces like this:

Step 9:

Adhere one of the triangles onto the front of your pyramid

Step 10:

Decorate the front.

Another sample:

Here I have used Tangerine tango, Pacific blue, and the Good morning Sunshine DSP, along with the Whale wishes stamp set.

I can’t believe that this is number 30!!! Where has all that time gone :) I hope you have enjoyed viewing these each and every week!

Have a goodie….

Weekend Sketch Challenge

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

Hi ya!

Well my stamps haven’t seen a lick of ink the past 3 days, as we have been busy with birthday celebrations, but I still have some creations from the weekend to show you.

You all know how I love Beate’s weekend sketch challenges, and well this past weekend it was Cammies turn to host the sketch. It was quite different, and I enjoyed going out of my comfort zone in more ways that one……the colour as well! I am so not a Bold brights gal, but I was trying my best to work with them. So in the end I am not 100% happy with the final result, but I just think it is because of the colours :)

Here is Cammie’s Sketch:

And my bright creation:

So I went with the squiggly pattern at the top, but I didn’t want to double up with my sqare scallop punch as I just thought it would be way too much!

I have used Ballet blue for the base which I stamped with the On the Spot background stamp (had to dust that one off, for one last time!) with Ballet blue ink. I then created the scallop edges onto black cardstock, and some Pumpkin pie designer Prints DSP from Stampin’Up. I have used the brand spanking new Cheers to you stamp set, and coloured them with my Stampin’ write markers and some dazzling diamonds glitter. I punched them out and mounted them onto Celery cardstock. Lastly I added some Certainly celery grosgrain ribbon, and the greeting from the same stamp set at the bottom.

I have done the Make it Monday, just have to finalize all the editing etc, but I have a class tonight……..So you will see it tommorrow!

Have a good night!

Take a pic Tuesday # 10

Published by Makeesha under Take a pic Tuesday

Hey there!

Today is a special day in out household……yes it is Elijah’s birthday today! He is turning 8 …..already??!! Where do the years go? Of course he has been super excited and has had his birthday list stuck to the fridge door, for oh about 3 weeks now. He had the whole plan going on….what gifts he would like, who he wanted to come to his party, what games they would play, as well as a food list of what they wanted to eat! Certainly made it a bit easier for me!

So I thought it only appropriate that I have a photo of him, on his special day for my Take a pic Tuesday today.

Here he is:

He has had a great day. We asked him what he would like for dinner,…..and his reply? HUNGRY JACKS! (burger king) Oh i did a little gulp…..hungry jacks? really? Now would you believe that I haven’t eaten that since I was actually pregnant with Elijah 8 years ago! Yes my tummy can’t handle it too well! The one thing about HJ”S is that you end up tasting it for about 6 hours when you burp it up……I suppose you can call that a real value meal…….or not! But he got his HJ’s and so he was chuffed. I won’t tell you how I am feeling tho! LOL! :)

Have a good night!

A couple of Splitcoast Challenges……

Hi ya!

WOW 2 days since I was on here, and I am still wondering where those days went! I have been busy with having guests over the past 2 days, and preparing from Elijah’s birthday (today) so yeah things have been busy. I did get to stamp on Sunday night though and catch up on some challenges etc…..

So like I have mentioned previously I hope to do more of the Splitcoast Challenges each week, and well I managed two from last week, the colour and the sketch :)

The colour challenge, was just that…….. A CHALLENGE! You know why??? Because it had that revolting Summer Sun in there!!! Yikes!

So the colours where, Kraft, Riding hood red, Summer sun, and Optional black. Hooley Dooley, what to do with those colours. But I was determined to have a go at it.

Here is what I came up with:

I had to paint this little guy before he is gone, because he is on the retirement list!!! I was trying to create a Robin red-breast, but don’t know if I succeeded too well :)

I have used Kraft for the base and stamped it with the Sanded background stamp with Sahara sand ink. The strip is Riding hood red cardstock with a very thin strip of the Summer sun on the side. I rolled it with the Watercolour vine jumbo roller, and distressed the edges.  Then I added the Black grosgrain ribbon with some pewter Hodegepodege Hardware.

I have then stamped up my birdie, with Stazon ink, onto watercolour paper, and painted him with my Aquapainter, and stamp pads. I stamped the word hope from the little background stamp from the set onto Riding hood red cardstock and cut the letters out. Lastly I sptitzed with my spritzer tool, and added the two black brads at the bottom onto some 1/8″ cirlce punches of Riding hood red cardstock.

So that is the colour challenge, and here was the Sketch for this week:

And my card:

I LOVE this stamp set, and will be very sad to see it go! I have used 5 strips of the Spring Fling DSP paper packs, which are 1 inch wide. I have then paper pierced the outer perimeter.

I have then stamped the main stamp with Stazon ink and coloured the inside of the letter with my Regal rose Stampin’ write marker and then I blinged it up dazzling diamonds glitter. I paper pierced the body suit with the pink spotty  paper. Again I have scallop edge punch the bottom of the white cardstock. Lastly I added some pink taffeta ribbon tied off at the side.

So there you have the challenges that I managed for this week.

Take care!
