BOUF challenge for one last time! :(

Published by Makeesha at 5:10 am under Cards

Hey everyone,

Firstly I want to say WOW thanks so much for your wonderful words of encouragement today! I truly appreciate it! I think I have you all worried tho! I was so tired yesterday, and I suppose my post was rather morbid, which was how I was feeling. Amazing how a good nights sleep really helps though!

I have found things to be really busy as of late, and taking some time off like many of you have suggested, sounds like a good idea. It will be school holidays in just over a week, so i will take those two weeks off from Challenges, and MIM;s etc……. Of course I will still stamp and share, but it will be really nice to just stamp for the enjoyment, and not for a specific post etc… But please rest assured that I am perfectly fine, and will keep soldiering on! (and try to get a little more sleep now and then too! :) )

Anyway back to the fun stuff!!! You all know that Karen and I have some craziness going on with the BOUF (aka Fabulous flowers) we have challenged each other to use it in different ways in the past couple of months, and Oh what fun we have been having.

Well we have given each other one last challenge before the BOUF is gone for good! sob, sob!!!

Karen’s challenge for me was it had to be using only Bold brights colours (my least fave) and have NO ribbon, and NO paper piercing…….oh the colour, the ribbon wasn’t too bad……BUT NO PAPER PIERCING!!! Has she got to be kidding me???!!! That is like telling a chocoholic to not eat chocolate at Easter…hey LOU!

So I put my sunnies on ( i would recommend you do too when you view the following creation!!!) and got out some of the Bold bright cardstock once I waded through the cobwebs…LOL!

Finally I settled on a couple of colours, and here is the end result……. I pre-warn you that this card would have looked 100% better with some paper piercing, so you will have to blame Karen that it isn’t quite up to scratch…hehehe

Here she is my very last official legal BOUF creation!

Warned you to wear sunnies! :)

Okay so I have used Pink passion, Only orange, and Pixie pink for the coloured cardstock and ink. I layered up the different colours onto the stamp with my markers, finishing off with some dazzling diamonds glitter to bling it up. I have used the greeting from the One of a kind stamp set, which I placed into a piece of Silver hodgepodge hardware. On the background I have stamped the BOUF with Versamark and embossed it with white Embossing powder.

Thanks Karen, for the great challenge, even though I am not 100% happy with the creation! :) Hmmmm what shall we think of next for our nutty challenges? Karen has a suggestion, but hmmmm I am not to sure about it yet. I think she is going to have to offer to buy the stamp set for me, so I will actually play along with her nonsense……hehehe  One thing is for sure…..we will keep you posted!

Now be sure to go and check out Karen’s BOUF creation and give her some comment love too!

Right-O, I will be off to finish putting the MIM together and replying to oh so many emails!

Have a goodie!

Love Keesh

Wow, Keesh! You were right about the sunnies! I think it would have looked great with piercing, but I think, given the condition you were issued with, you did a fabbo job!

    Love Melly

Hey Keesh - glad you got a good night’s sleep!

And I have a saying that I heard the other day that may help you out on those days when you are freaking out a bit because you haven’t done the washing, or the vacuuming, or whatever….now don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a tidy house and in fact I like having a tidy house myself but on those bad days, this one always makes me laugh and relax….

    DULL WOMEN HAVE TIDY HOUSES!

    And Keesh…you certainly ain’t dull!

Love the BOUF - I think it should be a tie.

    Hey Keeshie,

All I can say is it’s GORGEOUS!! You did so well with this challenge considering you and the Bold Brights don’t tango much! lol

I had a ball with this challenge and look forward to the next ones with our new fave set. You do have it on your list for tomorrow dont ya????

    Luv K

You nailed this challenge Keesh!! Good for you! I know I would have trouble using this flower with just those bright colours so you did well. So did Karen - hers is so pretty too. I must say your new favourite set is mine too and I can see it being a challenge!! I am going to buy it though.

What a great job you’ve done with the challenge!

Sorry to hear you’ve been having such a busy time. Hope that the holidays are a good time of refreshment and family togetherness for you.

(i’m reading these posts backwards, so haven’t read the ‘morbid’ post yet!)

    Hi Keesh,
I’m not much of BB girl either but I reckon you did really good job of making them appealing. really like the constrast between the white and coloured BOUF. Looks great even without paper piercing!

I have only had recent privy to the notorious BOUF challenges, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the interplay between the 2 of u immensely!! Roll on the next challenge!! Great card both of u!! To be fair I am posting the SAME comment on both blogs…LOL

Great job as usual Keesh! I didn’t buy the BOUF but now I almost wish I had.

Enjoy your rest and the school holidays! At my place it is just as busy in the holidays, but at least there is no school/kindy run and we can stay in our PJs all day - I assume the same at yours? LOL.
    xx Louise

That card is awesome Keesh! Bright is an understament but it sure suits every bit of BOUF! I dont have it either, and not sure i would use it alot, but for the sake of these 2 challenging cards, its pretty awesome:) Well done, have fun with the next one.
Take care in the next few weeks, relax, sit back and enjoy the ride:)
    Thanks for your inspiration……..

Hey Keesh…you make the BOUF look a little less BOand U:-)
Great job with the restrictions placed on you…I’m with you BOLD BRIGHTS - eeeeekkk!
Now orders to you are - time off from all the commitments you’ve placed on yourself and get back to just good old stamping for enjoyment again okay….you’ll feel better in no time:-) Well, I hope so anyway! xL

    Hey Keesh

I really like the BOUF card with the markers!!! Your every BOUF creation is fantastic. Well done! BOUF was on my wish list but I held back as it is retired…sob sob!!!! I hope there is another kind of BOUF in the new catty :)

This card is truly exquisite. I love the white flowers on the background. They add an extra dimension to the design.

The Big Ol’ Ugly Flower stamp is definitely ‘one of a kind’!. I LOVE it!! I don’t own it unfortunately, but I’m hoping to get my hands on the set really soon.. Maybe some naive eBayer will decide that they really hated it all along, and sell it cheap to some keen card making 17yo with limited funds haha :D

I LOVE this card Keesh!! It is stunning (quite literally with the beautiful bright colours LOL!) and I loveeeeee the glitters petals especially.

I’ve been trying to figure out your BOUF abbrevation… Big [Something] Ugly Flower? I used to love using that set. The big flower reminded me of some My Mind’s Eye papers from the Bohemia collection that I loved…

Well, if I am right and you don’t like this flower, you do use it beautifully!
