Mojolicious #73

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

I just LOVED last weeks Mojo sketch! I have only just had a chance to play with it, and post it here. I will definitely be using this one again!

Here is the sketch to work with:

This is my creation:

I have used a new stamp set I have which is called Kind Thoughts. It is a Stampin’Up stamp set that has just retired in the US catalog, and my dear friend Kim just sent it to me, because she knew I LOVED it! Thanks a million Kim for your very kind gift! I have just made my first card with the stamps, and I love it!

I have used Basic black, Regal rose, and Basic grey cardstock and some DSP from the Bali breeze pack. The ribbon is the wide regal rose grosgrain ribbon and the grey taffeta ribbon, which I have topped with a rhinestone brad. I stamped the large scroll type stamp with Versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then stamped the little butterfly with regal rose ink and cut it out, and also dressed it up with some dazzling diamonds glitter. The greeting is from the same stamp set.

So what do you think? I really hope we get this in our new catalog, because I know you will love it too!

Take care,

Love Keesh

A Mat packs best friend

Published by Makeesha under Chitchat with Keesh

Hi there,

Over the past month a few of you have been asking me what paper piercer I use. I have promised to show you my whizz bang tool that I just love!

I bought the best pricking tool and have been addicted to paper piercing ever since, as you probably can tell from my creations of late.

The tool is called a Clover tailors awl and you can purchase them at some Spotlight stores. I bought mine at a local haberdashery store and they cost around $14.

Here is a picture of it:

It has a graduated point and a fantastic rubber section to hold onto so you don’t get sore fingers holding it.

Do yourself a big favour and get one…….you won’t regret it! I promise!

Have a good night.

Taylor’s Cupcake Challenge # 55

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

 Hi ya again!

I have finished off this card late today, soI have missed the cut off. I actually started it on the weekend, but haven’t had the mo to finish it off. Anyway no biggie, I just thought I would quickly share it with you.

So with Taylor;s cupcake challenge, it is just that……follow the sketch, with a cupcake! Since I am pretty limited as far as cupcakes go, I have once again used the Big Bold Birthday stamp set. But this time I have made it for a boy. I seem to always use this set in girly colours, so it was great to work with some bold boys colours this time!

Here is the sketch to follow:

This is my creation:

Bright isn’t it! I have used the Jersey Shore DS papers with a base of Wild wasabi cardstock. I have pretty much just followed the sketch with the different patterned papers, and then cut the circles out with my CM circle cutters. I have stamped up the cupcake with Pumpkin pie and Bashful blue inks. I layered the top with the new blue chunky glitter and topped it off with the candles. I added the greeting and the paper piercing around the circle for added effect.

This was fun! Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!

Make it Monday # 27

Hi all!

Well I have finally got this tutorial done for you all. I know you may have seen these around, but I still think they are fantastic, and well this is the Keesh version for you………so enjoy!

Fridge Memo Board

Materials required:

  • Paper trimmer
  • Bone scorer
  • Scallop edge punch
  • Ribbon
  • Cardboard
  • Pencil
  • Cardstock
  • DS paper
  • Brads
  • Note pad

Step 1:

Cut your sheet of cardboard (I have used the card in the DSP packets) into two pieces. One measuring 9cm x 21.5cm’s and the other 8cm’s by 20.5cm’s and set aside.

You will have two pieces like this:

Step 2:

Cut a piece of DSP that measures 12cm’s by 24cm’s

Step 3:

Take the large piece of cardboard, and wrap that DSP around it, tucking the edges in on the underside.

When you turn it over you should have the right side showing up.

Step 4:

Cut a sheet of cardstock that measures 8cm’s by 7.5cms’s and a sheet of DSP that measures 7.5cm’s by 6.75cm’s

Step 5:

Layer the DSP on top of the cardstock, and decorate with some ribbon, a flower, brad and or the scallop edge punch. Score in the centre of the piece of cardstock also.

Step 6:

Take your note pad and add it to the very top of the base card.

Step 7:

Add the top you made and adhere it to the base and notepad.

Step 8:

Turn your base over and with the other piece of cardboard add it to the back, also cut a piece of DSP that fits perfectly so the back is finished off nice and neat.

Step 9:

Add a magnet to the top of your board at the back.

Step 10:

At the front create a little pencil holder by wrapping a narrow strip of cardstock around the pencil to mould the shape. The adhere the cardstock circle to the base, and slip your pencil in.

Finished product:

Here I have used the Bali breeze papers, with some pomegranate ribbon, and the flower fusion felt flowers, with blue rhinestone brads.

Another sample:

For this one I have used the Berry bliss DSP, and the Chocolate wide grosgrain ribbon, and fusion flowers.

Enjoy!

Beate is BACK!!!! WOO HOO!

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

I was just about wetting myself with excitement when I saw a sketch up on Beate’s blog!!! I most certainly did a happy dance!

Early this year Beate announced that there would be no more challenges due to family commitments. Now I truly appreciate her putting her family first, but I was sad that there would be no more challenges.

What a wonderful suprise to find one on her blog on Friday! I couldn’t wait to play along!

So here is the sketch Beate gave us:

this is what I came up with:

For this card I have used the Embrace life stamp set (can’t get enough of this one!) and the Ginger blossoms DSP with Mellow moss cardstock.

I have stamped the background first with the Linen background stamp with Mellow moss ink, then again with the Sanded background with Chocolate chip ink. At the top right hand corner,  i have added 3 antique brass brads, that I have layered a small circle of guava cardstock underneath.

The circles of DSP I have cut using my Creative Memory circle cutters, and then have distressed them with my cutter kit. I stamped the flower with Stazon ink onto watercolour paper, and watercoloured it with my aquapainter, and stamp pads.

Lastly I have added a half pearl to the flower, and some wide grosgrain Chocolate ribbon with some antique brass Hodgepodge hardware. The greeting is from the Baroque Motifs stamp set, and stamped with Chocolate chip ink.

So there you have it! I hope Beate have more challenges to come! Thanks Beate for a wonderful sketch!
