The Great Barrier Reef!

Published by Makeesha under Chitchat with Keesh, Family

Hey everyone!

Well I have snuck out with Claire tonight, both of us with laptops in hand…….and tracked down another Internet centre!

We all had an amazing day today! We all headed out to the Great Barrier Reef and WOW it was amazing! I was a little apprhensive because I am proned to getting seasick, and i am not a huge fan of the Ocean, being very scared of sharks! But I am so glad I did go, as it was one of the best days I have ever had!

We went to Michalas Cay, which was about 1.5hours out to sea on a big boat! I managed to keep my breakfast down thanks to the Kwells I took but some others weren’t as lucky! I felt so sorry for them!

Anyway they have a photographer in board, and I thought I would very quickly show you a couple of pics from the day!

Here we all are as we boarded the boat early this morning!

Here is my hubby Rod, and Tiarne and Elijah all dressed up in out snorkeling gear and out in the water! It was so amazing seeing all the beautiful fish, and the amazing coral! The kids did so well, and I was so happy that they could snorkel and have a blast as well!

All in all we were blessed with a wonderful day, and memories to last a lifetime :)

We just have 2 days left here……..very sad! But it has truly been a wonderful time. I will be back early on Monday morning, and so hopefully will get back into the swing of life! I look forward to checking out the challenge entries too!

Take care!

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge # 5

Hey everyone!

By now you are all probably wondering where on earth I am……..

Well I am in Cairns at the moment…….yep the total opposite side of the country to where I live! I had typed up the post with the new challenge for you all, only to just find out that I saved it, not published it! WHOOPS! I did the post just as we were about to fly out on Friday night, and couldn’t believe it wasnt there when I have checked just now!

We are staying in the beautiful Clifton Beach area, and are supposed to have internet access at the holiday home, but when we arrived there was a problem with the connection! Talk about frustrating! We finally got hold of the real estate agent yesterday but unfortunatley it is a technical fault with the line and no one can service it till next week which of course is when I will be home again……..but they did give us a bottle of wine and a bottle of Chandon champagne as compensation, which was nice of them!

Anyway I have found a great internet cafe, and hopefully I can fill you in on my alloted time! I hope you are all well.

We (me, hubby, our oldest two children, Rods’ brothers Matt and Ivan and my lovely sister in law Claire) arrived in Cairns at 4:20am Saturday morning. We finally squeezed all our luggage and our persons into a Tarago van and drove to Palm Cove to pick up the keys. It was just amazing to be back here again after the Incentive Trip last August! There was an amazing sunrise that morning over the beach at Palm Cove and I promise I will share these photos with you when I can get them off the camera! Oh and for those of you that went to IT, the lawn bowls lawn is now a swimming pool from all the rain! Now that was a sight!

So I am sure to share with you more of Cairns as we still have till late Sunday night here :)

But now for that new challenge I am sure you are hanging out to see! I have gone with another sketch, and I managed to whip up one sample for you before I left home, but I will be sure to make up a couple more when I get home because I have a few ideas floating around in my head!

So here is your sketch to work with:

And here is my quick sample:

Do you see it……..I USED YELLOW!!! Thanks goes to Karen for her curing me of my aversion to yellow with that whopping challenge I had the other week! It seems you all LOVED the challenges we gave to each other, so I promise we will do it again……..once Karen gives me a dare that is! (oh and when I am home again of course!)

I have used Purely pomegranite, So saffron, Pretty in pink and Whisper white for the colours. The stamps I have used are the Tres chic background stamp, the Occasional grettings, and the Eastern blooms. For embellishment I used my paper piercer, the pink chunky glitter which I have loaded up onto a pop-up glue dot and placed into the centre of the flower. Lastly I added two pink brads at the top right hand corner.

Want to play along?

If you would like to play along, all you need to do is follow the directions:

1. Make your creation following the challenge ie, sketch, colour, or inspiration image.

2. Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, with a direct link back to the post on this website, so that others viewing the post will know where the challenge has come from, and it is curtosy to do so.

3. Then come back to this post so that you can add your name and link in the Mr. Linky!

I will pick a winner and an honourable mention on Friday 6th March so you have a little longer this time to get your challenge entries in!

Well I think that is all…..no doubt i will think of other things to tell you once I get off the computer, but ah well, hopefully I can touch base again a little later in the week!

Take care

I absolutely LOVE the summer look to this card as well! Kim has done an amazing job creating that surf board to hang in the back of the truck! Don’t you think that is pretty clever! Kim’s fab blog is www.kimsstampingspot.blogspot.com

Amys Sketch # 58

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Sketch Challenges

Hey there!

I hope you are all well! I have whipped up a creation for Amy’s sketch this week! I LOVE her sketches, as they are often a little different and not what I would usually come up with. And this card I have made is a little different too!

Here is her sketch:

and here is my creation:

Here i have used a different colour combo, to work in the flowers at the bottom, which I have dug out of an old stash of scrapbooking supplies! I couldn’t for the life of me think of what to use for the three circles, and then I just thought of these flowers.

The stamp sets I have used are Linen background stamp, One of a kind, and Wonderful Favourites. I have used Chocolate chip, Regal rose, Pretty in pink, and Taken with teal with some whisper white as my colour theme. And the embellishments I have used are the flowers, rhinestone brads from the pretties kit, Pretty in pink brads, and some pink taffeta ribbon as well.

I hope to be back tommorrow with the challenge winner, and a new one for you!

Have a good night!

Take a pic Tuesday # 5

Published by Makeesha under Take a pic Tuesday

Hi again!

Well I thought I better get this Take a pic Tuesday up for you before the day is over. I wanted to use one of the photos of Rod and I on Valentines Day when we went out for a special dinner that Rod suprised me with!

We went to Frasers Restaurant which is in the Kings park, which overlooks the city and river. It is a rather flash restaurant, and they have fantastic food, and amazing service.

Rod bought tickets to the special Valentine’s Day Dinner which is set up on the amazing Observation Deck, overlooking Kings Park, the City and the River. They had all these single tables set up with amazing lines and pink satin bows, and a rose for all the ladies. It was very pretty. I thought I would show you a quick pic of the view in the early evening, and at nightime so you can see how spectacular it was.

Here is the view in the early evening:

And then at night:

This one isn’t as clear, but you can see that all the city lights are on, and on the water as well.

Finally here is a photo of us together, that I will be scrapbooking on Saturday for you:
