Scrap it Saturday # 1

 Hi again!

Well here is it my very first Scrap it Saturday……..hopefully this is something I can maintain and have a fun filled album by the end of the year!

I have taken that photo that I took on Saturday of the kids and turned it into a 12 x 12 scrap page…….now I haven’t done 12 x 12 for awhile, as i just LOVE 8 x8 ’s instead. But this photo called for it.

Just to make it a fun day, I also got a photo printed up for Tiarne, and she has her page to show you as well…..she is proud as punch of her first effort at scrapbooking, and I am kinda proud of her too :)

Here it is:

I wish the photo was better! I find it quite hard to photograph 12 x 12’s!

Here I have used the nice new Bali Breeze papers which are nice a bright. I think they matched the kids clothes quite well. The typed text i printed up on the computer, and I have used some striped pumpkin ribbon. I paper pierced around the half circles for added effect.

Now for Tiarne’s

Not bad for a 9 year old hey! Tiarne has used the eastern blooms stamp set. I haven’t help her one iota, and this is all her creation……cute hey!

Thanks for looking. Now I am off to spend some wonderful time with the kids, and I am having tommorrow off, from the computer to enjoy the family, so I will be back on Monday with the Make it Monday!

Enjoy your weekend! (especially those in Australia, celebrating Australia Day on Monday- and that day off!)

Inkspirations Inspiration Challenge # 3

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Keesh's Challenges

Hey there!

Finally get the moment to post this has been hard in the past 24hrs, but alas here it is at last! - Thanks for your patience! AND I promise not to have this happen next week :)

So who is up for an Inspiration Challenge? Been a wee while since we have done one of these, so this should be fun.

How do you play with an Inpsiration Challenge?

Well that is easy! All you have to do is make something that is inspired by the image. So that can be the colours, the items, the mood, the theme…..anything you like!

I LOVE these challenge because they really get you to be creative…….get that mojo flowing, and you often are chuffed with the result!

So here is the image you have to work by, which is from www.adairs.com

And here is my inspired creation:

Here I have really used that BIG, OLD, UGLY, Flower! I have made a square card with Close to Cocoa cardstock that I have added the Fine Lace background stamp to. The colours of the flowers are Ruby red, Blue Bayou, and Sage shadow which I have stamped the large flower. I have added dazzling diamonds glitter, and half pearls for embellishment.

If you would like to play along with the Challenge here are some guidlines:

1. Make your project (s) using the inspiration image…..for inspiration.

2. Upload your project to your blog/ website, and or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast stampers. Please state where the challenge has come from, with a link back to this post, so others can play along etc….

3. Come back here and add your name into the Mr Linky, with the correct link to your direct creation

You have until 11:59pm on Thursday 29th January to have your projects linked.

I will announce a winner, and an honourable mention next week Friday, and the following weeks challenge!

Have fun with this one!

Colour Challenge Round-up!

Published by Makeesha under Colour Challenges

YAY! I have finally finished viewing all the AMAZING entries for this past weeks Colour Challenge!!!

I have to say that I am amazed at how many of you played along, with this one! I know some of your were dubious about it all…..yes the combo was rather different, but what is a challenge if it doesn’t do just that…..challenge you!- And many of you made more than ONE!……AMAZING!

There were so many amazing creations, and I have loved seeing all there variety in creations as well. I have once again had a hard time picking a winner.

I have chosen this amazing card by Leonie Schroder.I LOVE the antique feel this card has, and the embossed flowers on there! You can see more of Leonie’s work at her website www.stamp-a-latte.com . Leonie is also a computer wizz and has a separate business building peoples websites, so if you are in the look for one, contact Leonie! Here is her card:

Isn’t it just BEWDIFUL!

I have also decided that each week I would love to give someone an Honourable mention. It is really hard to pick a winner, and often there is another creation that I love, that could so win as well.

SO each week I will give you the winning card, and then an Honourable Mention.

This weeks, Honourable Mention is this gorgeous card by Amy Fleming of New Zealand! Amy made two fabulous cards, but I LUUURRRVVVEEEDDD this one!

Isn’t this gorgeous! I think this would make a fabulous masculine valentines card!

I have created a Slide show of all the entries, and this time I tried to put everyone’s names in there as well, so you can see who made what.

Thanks everyone for playing, and I will get the new challenge up shortly!

Have a great weekend!

Love Keesh

eta….the bronc buster card shown in the slide show was made by Kristy Geddes, not Mandy Schiller! Sorry abou that Kristy!

Take a pic Tuesday # 1

I am sure you are a little stumped by the heading of this post………well let me explain.

Have your ever heard of a Photo Journal? I hadn’t until last week, whilst blog surfing, (or really checking out challenge entries) I came across some of people that have decided to give this a go this year! I am love, love, loving this idea. I really wanted to do this BUT…..

I have to have things in order. SO I don’t think I could start this journal thing, seeing as we have already started the year, and well I have to be a little honest with myself…..I would be biting off more than I can chew…….take a photo EVERYDAY. I am lucky if I take monthly photos of the kids.

Now if you want to really understand what I am talking about you will have to go and check these very talented ladies’ blogs……..Monnie Moo, who is an absolute star behind a camera! She has even won photography awards!!! Then the lovely Linda, is actually journaling her experiences from the year. And last of all I discovered Trudi a SU demo from New Zealand last week when she played along with my challenge ( a few times) and wow she has some beautiful photos as well.

The idea is that you take a photo everyday, whether it be an important event, or something totally insignificant, like a bucket……but it is something from your life that you relate to, have been to, or love, hate etc….. really it can be anything!

I am really not the best at keeping up with taking photos! And to think of taking photos of things around the place just seems silly. BUT I always love those scrapbook pages I see in magazines, or on blogs that have titles, like…..”I couldn’t live without……” and usually it is a photo of a cup of coffee, or a block of chocolate!, Then there is the the whole, ” I love, or I hate…… pages.

So this has had me thinking for the past week about how I could do something like this, and still make it easy and workable. I have come up with this idea. I will take a weekly photo of something random, or of the kids, or of an event……something that happens in 2009, and I will post it on here on a Tuesday.

Then I will take that photo, scrap it, and show you on Scrap it Saturday……which of course will be on saturday :)

This way I will have a fabulous record of what went on this year AND I won’t be collecting them for years to come, where they have a tendancy to stay in the ” One day we will get scrapped ” pile…..that keeps growing!!!

So for this very first “Take a pic Tuesday” I have taken one of the kids on the brand new lawn we have! This summer has been fabulous……..because it is the first we have lawn!!! I know that sounds so insignificant, but to us it has been a change of lifestyle!

We have a paddock full of lawn, a creek, and orchard, a dam, but no lawn out the back for the kids to play on for what seems like forever. Just before summer we changed our plans to do additions to the house, and decided to lay some roll on lawn instead. I tell ya the difference it has made is unbelievable! No more sand in the house, and the kids LOVE to play out there now. With the daylight savings, when it is a little cooler, they love to run around out there after dinner in their jammies.

So here is a photo I took of them after dinner, in their jammies, lying on the new lawn…….

Here are my 4 little Monkeys…..From the top right hand corner going clockwise, we have

 Tiarne 9, Malakai 5, Janaya 3, and Elijah 7

So I will take this picture now and scrapbook it and share it with you on Saturday. I hope to do this each week, and then I will in a small way journal my year in 2009, and get some Scrapbooking done at the same time also!

Ciao!

Love Keesh
