A little Christmas Inkspiration….

Published by Makeesha under Cards

 Hey there!

I hope you are all well. I am well…..a little overwhelmed with the “to-do” list that is sitting right beside me, BUT I am sure I will get there.

I know, I know I promised you an exciting suprise yesterday, and i have failed you, BUT I have good reason. Well sometimes intentions don’t always come to plan, and that is what has happened….. but on a positive note it is coming together now, and you will all be the first to know when I have it sorted….PROMISE!

Okay so I thought that since the silly season has well and truly hit, it was time for some more Christmas Inkspiration :)

Last week I held a Christmas class at home with some very lovely ladies, that travelled all the way up from Mandurah to come along! We made 3 cards, a Christmas decoration, two tags, and a little baggie….they loved them all. So I thought I would quickly show you the cards we made, as I was quite happy with them, if I say so myself :)

Oh those Holiday Harmony DS papers are going to be missed! Good thing I bought 4 packs before they disappear fo good!

I have started this cards with an Artichoke cardstock base. I then stamped the scrolls randomly over the background. I added the striped strip of Harmony papers and the wide satin pomegranite ribbon. Also adding the scallop edge of vanilla cardstock at the bottom.

For the flower I have stamped the Scribble this flower with black ink onto the Pomegranite DS paper twice, cut both flowers out and mounted them upon the same in the artichoke DS paper. I placed a rhinestone brad in the center and mounted it onto two squares of cardstock.

Last of all the greeting is from the Many Merry messages stamp set, which i stamped with Versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder.

Something a little brighter now. I used Real red for the base which I have rolled with the So swirly jumbo roller. I cut about an inch off the front right hand side. On the base side of the card I have gone down the side with my scallop edge punch……oh that is one wonderful punch, so be sure to get one of those! I then added the strip of Dashing DS paper just inside to create the two layered effect.

I have stamped the swirls from the Seaon of joy stamp set onto vanilla cardstock. Then I have stamped the little flower stamp, cut two out, and placed a gold brad in the centre popping them up with dimensionals. Lastly I added the wide Olive grosgrain ribbon, and the greeting in white ink which is from the same stamp set.

Then the last card of all was the simplest, but my favourite……,.I am thinking of making this one my Christmas card for this year.!!??

So I started with Soft sky for the base, and added two different strips of DS paper which are from the Wintergreen DS paper pack. Through the centre I added a strip of Artichoke cardstock, and then the whisper white cardstock which I have stamped with the Lovely as a tree stamp set with Artichoke ink. I added some dazzling diamonds glitter all over the trees and ground, but it didn’t quite get captured on the photo.

Lastly for the greeting I have punched out a large oval punch through the top side of the card. I then punched out one in artichoke cardstock, and then added the little greeting from the Short and sweet stamp set punched out with my small oval punch and popped up with a dimensional.

So I hope these got you a little inspired for the Christmas season!

Be back soon, with all sorts of things!

Hostess Appreciation Day!

Recently I sent out invites to all the wonderful ladies who hosted a workshop throughout the year. Each of them had invited me into their homes, and so it was now time to invite them to mine.

I had been very busy getting things made and prepped for the day, and going by all the lovely comments, I think the ladies all had fun :)

So for the day I had prepared some fun little gifts for them to take home. First I made these drink bottle toppers, with the Tart and Tangy stamp set, and added a straw and lolly pop. I had these at everyone’s places around the tables.

Yummy!

I then made these cute little goodies for small gifts. I had them in a baskets, I even had some markers but forgot to take a picture of them, and they were whipped up in seconds.

First these little ribbon spools decorated ( these are the left over centres from the Stampin’Up ribbon. I have used the Scallop punch and the Think Happy thoughts stamp set.

Then I made the jumbo paper clips……thanks to Lou who found them for me!

And last of all I made these little….umm don’t know what you call them. Maybe they could be called chocolate cones??!! I have used the new Carousel notes from the New mini, and wrapped them around to make a cone, then loaded them with Chocolates, with a ribbon and tag around the middle.

Cute hey!

Now for the projects they made…….The first one was the Card folder that I wrote the tutorial for yesterday, along with the two cards to go inside with the envelopes. And the other items were a mini pizza box, and 3 love notes to go inside.

Here I have used Pomegranite cardstock, and the new Bali Breeze papers from Stampin’Up.

This first one I have again used the Bali Breeze papers, and the Say it with Scallops stamp set

Another Say it with scallops set, combined with the Jersey shores papers, pumpkin ribbon, and brilliant blue brads

Then the last Love note was this one, again using the Say it with Scallops stamp set, and the Afternoon tea papers, with Guava ribbon, and Antique brass brads.

So that was the projects everyone got to make. Here are a couple photos of the lovely ladies that came along on Saturday.

From the left we have, Melanie, Michelle, Julie, Barbara, Una, and Jess….see they look happy don’t they!

Sarah and Tracy…

Sandra…

Wendy and Rachel…

Henny…

Well those were the ones I managed to capture on camera.

Then last of all I had a display board….thanks to the lovely Lou, who loaned me hers!!!!

All in all I think it was a fabulous day, and a big thanks to the ladies that came along! I just have to share with you another thing that happened! As I was madly cleaning up because we had to go out in the evening, my darling Janaya call out to me…..”Mummy I’m stamping!” ….Hmm what do I find ???

This…..

Just when i thought Stampin’Up’s stamp pads are child proof!!! Jaye managed to get it all opened by herself, and work out the roller….!

So there you have my Hostess Appreciation Day in a short nutshell :)

I hope to be back soon, with some exciting news for you all………So stay tuned!

Make it Monday # 21

Published by Makeesha under Card Folder, Cards, Make it Monday

Well it is great to say hi again! I have been wanting to get on here and say hello, but I had such a huge weekend!!! It is that busy season again, but I also had that Hostess Appreciation Day here on Saturday……WHat a day that was!!! So fabulous, and I can’t wait to share with you all that happened, but my priority was to get this Make it Monday up here for you!

So you will have to be a little patient, and I promise to bring you all the deets, and photos tommorrow (tues), but for now here is the Make it Monday for this week….Enjoy!

Card Folder

Materials required:

  • Paper trimmer
  • Bone Scorer
  • Ribbon
  • Crop-a-dile (hole punch)
  • Stamps
  • Stamp pads
  • Mat pack
  • DS paper
  • 12 x 12 cardstock
  • Scallop edge punch

Step 1:

Take your 12 x 12 cardstock and cut 1 inch of one side and 2.5 inches off the other side.

Step 2:

Score your cardstock at 6cm’s in from the side on the long side. Then score it at 14cm (which is half way) from the side. Your cardstock should look like this once you have scored it.

Step 3:

Cut your cardstock at an angle from the base up to the point where the score lines crosses over.

Step 4:

Add tape to the outer edge of the inside strip. This will seal the side and make a little pocket.

WHoops a bit blurry this one!

 Step 5:

Decorate the front of your folder. I have used DS paper, the scallop edge punch, and the Embrace life stamp set, with Ginger blossoms paper.

Step 6:

Take your Crop-a-dile (or hole punch) and punch one hole just in from the edge, through both layers. Do this also to the other side of the folder keeping it in line, so it looks like this.

Step 7:

Feed a long strip of ribbon starting from the outside and weaving in through the centre, leaving the tails to the outside edge of the folder.

Step 8:

Stamp up your co-ordinating envelopes

Step 9:

Make two identical cards which will go into the centre of the folder.

Step 10:

Place your envelopes and cards into the inside of your folder under the ribbon.

Step 11:

Close your folder and tie it closed with the ribbon tails

For this one I have used the Afternoon tea DS paper, Live your dream stamp set, and Chocolate, Guava, Soft sky cardstock.

The template for this card folder, I got from the Workshop WOW Dvd I received from Stampin’Up at the Incentive trip this year, however the projects I have made are my ideas.

So there you have it. I hope you like them. I actually made these with my team the other night, and the ladies at the Hostess Day loved them as well. They are so cute in real life, and I will be making a ton of them as little Christmas gifts this year!

Right, better head to bed, as I am knackered, and have to be up at 5:30am for the gym!

Now for the this weeks Challenge…….hmm time for some colour!!!

And here are my samples for you :

Here I have used the One of a kind stamp set from Stampin’Up, and used my markers to ink it up. The papers are from the Afternoon Tea DS paper pack. I have paper pierced and added wide Chocolate grosgrain ribbon, and antique brass brads.

And a little scrap page…… i really hate scrapping myself for on my blog! But today I was stuck for a photo and since the colours are fairly femenine I only really had this one. Ah well.

So I have used again some Afternoon Tea papers, the guava, and soft sky double stitched ribbon, as well as I have coloured up the flower with my guava re-inker, and blinged it with some glitter. The background is the Tres Chic background stamp.

Then last of all I made this very quick card…..which I think is a little boring to be honest! Ah well. I have used the True friend and short and sweet stamp sets. I added paper piercing, antique brass brads, soft sky double stitched ribbon for embellishment.

So there you have it…..this weeks challenge. I really hope you can play along this week, and I really look forward to seeing your creations!

I have a mammoth weekend ahead of me with the big Hostess Appreciation Day tommorrow, and finalizing a new project for Monday that I am super excited to share with you……so stayed tuned, I will be back soon.

Kristina’s Colour Challenge for this week…..

Published by Makeesha under Cards

 Hey There!

So I have managed to finally whip this up for this week…..I was struggling today to find any source of MoJo, but I think it all has to do with being so busy putting things together for my big Hostess Appreciation Day this Saturday! I have lots of fun things planned, but of course can’t share them with you yet!

Anyway here is the Colour Challenge for this week…..hmm getting us into the upcoming season!

Beautiful colours!

So I have made a square card with Real red cardstock. I have used the Baroque Motifs stamp set with Real red ink.  I added a strip of Red DS paper from the Summer picinic pack and a nice silver bow of wide organdy ribbon. I have stamped the cirlcle flower stamp, embossed it with Silver, and then rolled over it with my brayer and real red ink. I placed a rhinestone brad in the centre, and popped it up with dimensionals.

So there you have the quick version of this weeks challenge!

Take care
