Amy’s Sketch….

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Scrapbooking

Hey everyone!

Sorry it has been quiet on here the past couple of days! I find it amazing how what is meant to be a quiet week, turns into a crazy one!

I don’t know about you, but that In-box of mine just keeps growing!!! When you have other commitments, it really takes time away from replying and the pile just multiplies! Ah well after 2 hours this afternoon, they are back to a healthy level and I can get back to you wonderful peoples the world over :)

So again I have managed to do Amy Rysavy’s sketch this week. I really enjoyed this sketch and thanks to Amy of www.prairiepaperandink.typepad.com  for putting it together…..! Amy has some beautiful work on her blog, and not to mention she is now designing stamps of her own! I would love some too….

Here is Amy’s Sketch:

And what I managed to work with:

img_2305-custom.JPG

img_2308-custom.JPG

I thought I would work with the long length and work with some tall stamps. Here I have used Basic grey cardstock stamped with Stampin’Up’s Linen background stamp. I added the strips of paper which are from Stampin’Up’s LeJardin paper pack. I added the basic grey taffeta ribbon on the top strip and paper pierced a border around the edges. For the stamped image, I have used Stampin’Up’s Oh so lovely stamp set which I stamped with Stazon, onto watercolour paper. I have coloured it with my stamp pads, and an aquapainter. I have also used my spritzer to get the spots on the paper, and added a very small smidge of glitter to bling it up. The greeting is from the Short and Sweet stamp set which I have punched out with the Word window punch and mounted with dimensionals.

img_2289-custom.JPG

So next I wanted to go with something a little more colourful and cheery. I used Rose red cardstock for the base and have rolled the So Swirly roller from Stampin’Up with Rose red ink. I added the strips of DS paper  which is from the Palette of Prints paper pack adding the celery grosgrain ribbon at the top. Next I added the rhinestone brads along the bottom and the greeting punched out with my small oval punch. I have used the Sassy Stems stamp set from Stampin’Up and coloured it with my aquapainter and stamp pads. Lastly I added the paper piercing around the edges to create a frame, and added some dazzling diamonds glitter to the image.

Then last of all…..

img_2310-custom.JPG

This is a photo of me and my bestie Lee…..Hey Lee! I have used Basic grey cardstock for the base which I have stamped with the swirl stamp from the Baroque Motifs stamp set with basic brey ink. I then added the three strips of DS paper which is from Stampin’Up’s Holiday Haromny paper pack. Along the top I have added the co-ordinating pomegranite satin ribbon, blinged up with a hat pin, with pearls, and crystals. Then on the next strip I added some half pearls, and then at the bottom I added  a white rub-on from the Cherished Memories rub-on pack. I ended up adding the little photo corner to the top left hand corner of the photo finished off with a rhinestone brad.

I hope you like them, and thanks for looking!

SCS Colour Challenge….

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Well last week over at Splitcoast Stampers, the colour challenge was to use Whisper white, Basic black, and Pink pirouette.

What an elegant combo. I thought that since we don’t have pink pirouette, just yet, I would use Pretty in pink instead considering that they are very similar.

This is what I came up with :

img_2301-custom.JPG

img_2304-custom.JPG

I have used Pretty in pink for the card base which I stamped the little circular floral stamp randomly over the background and adding the scallops along the bottom with my corner rounder punch. I then added the strip of Basic black cardstock along the bottom which I have done two rows of paper piercing.

On the Whisper white cardstock, I stamped the “together” saying from Stampin’Up’s Define your life stamp set. I made the little brackets with my round tab punch. I have then added the row of pretty in pink brads along the top, and the pink taffeta ribbon.

For the heart, which is from Stampin’Up’s Always stamp set, I have stamped it with Versamark ink onto pink cardstock. I then embossed it with white embossing powder. I have mounted it onto black cardstock, and cut that as well to create a border. Lastly I added the little floral stamp done in black ink, punched it out, and placed a pink brad in the centre.

I think this would make a great anniversary, or wedding card. Well back to the stamping desk, after I sort the youngest two muchkins from hurting each other!

Have a great Day!

Make it Monday #15 - Post-it Note Holders

Well here is it Monday again, and here is your Make in Monday for another week. I hope you like this one, and I think you will be amazed at how super dooper easy these are! ENJOY!

Materials Required:

img_2270-custom.JPG

Paper trimmer, Bone scorer, Ribbon, Post-it Note block, Tape, Pencil, Stamps, Stamp pads, DS paper, Cardstock, Scissors

Step 1:

img_2272-custom.JPG

Cut your A4 sheet of cardstock, so that it measures, 10cm’s x 18cm’s

Step 2:

img_2274-custom.JPG

Now score your cardstock from either end (on the short side) 8cm’s in. Do this from either end, and you will end up with a 2 cm spine right in the middle

Step 3:

img_2278-custom.JPG

Fold your cardstock up at the scored lines both in the same direction

Step 4:

img_2276-custom.JPG

Cut three pieces of cardstock each measuring 9.5cm’s x 7.5cm’s

Step 5:

img_2277-custom.JPG

Cut three squares of DS paper slightly smaller than the cardstock, so that you have a border. It is best to have then different patterns for each.

Step 6:

img_2279-custom.JPG

Add one square to the front of the holder

Step 7:

img_2280-custom.JPG

Tape your two pieces of ribbon down onto the inside of your holder at either end

Step 8:

img_2281-custom.JPG

Place your other two squares over the tape on the inside two sides of your holder

Step 9:

img_2282-custom.JPG

Place your Post-it Note block onto one side of the inside of your holder

Step 10:

img_2283-custom.JPG

Take a short pencil (this one is an original pencil cut in half) and a small strip of cardstock.

img_2284-custom.JPG

Wrap that little strip of cardstock around the pencil. This is making a little holder for the pencil to slip into and stay in place

Step 11:

img_2285-custom.JPG

Add the little pencil holder into the base next to the Post-it Note block

Step 12:

img_2287-custom.JPG

Tie the lid closed with the Ribbon

Step 13:

img_2288-custom.JPG

Beate’s Weekend Sketch Challenge # 62

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Another weekend, another of Beate’s FAB-O sketches!

Here is the sketch Beate provided us:

wsc62-custom.jpg

And here is what I created with it:

img_2299-custom.JPG

img_2300-custom.JPG

First I worked with this Christmas card. I have used Soft sky cardstock for the base which I mounted with DS paper from Stampin’Up’s Wintergreen paper pack. I have done the same for the bottom strip, only used different paper……..which DUH I know you will be able to tell that! I paper pierced around the inside edges of the paper to create a border, and added the two green ohinestone brads at the top right hand corner.

Next I added a strip of Always Artichoke cardstock which I mounted with whisper white cardstock. I have then stamped the trees which are from Stampin’Up’s Lovely as a tree stamp set with Artichoke ink. I have done a little watercolouring and spong daubing with Soft sky ink around the trees to give it a bit more depth. Next I added the dazzling diamonds glitter to create the wintery, snow look.

For the greeting along the bottom, I punched out the 1 3/8ths’ circle punch with artichoke cardstock, then layered it with the designer punch in Sage shadow cardstock. I have then stamped the “very merry” from the Short and sweet stamp set in artichoke ink and punched it out with my 1 1/4 circle punch.

I think this is really simple, yet effective………hmm thinking I might even work on something similar for my Christmas cards this year.

img_2292-custom.JPG

img_2294-custom.JPG

Something a little more elegant. I have used Basic grey cardstock for the base. I stamped the swirls from the Baroque Motifs stamp set in Versamark ink, and then embossed them with clear embossing powder. That is why they are glossy.

I created the scalloped edges with my corner rounder punch and paper pierced the centres. I made two strips so that they went either side of the whisper white cardstock. Now on the white cardstock I have stamped the same swirls again with Purely pomegranite stamp pad. I have then used my Stamp-a-majig to line up the swirls and stamped directly over it with my Versamark ink, which then allowed me to use my Heat and Stick powder and Dazzling diamonds glitter! Lots of shimmer!

Next I stamped the little floral stamp from Stampin’Up’s Baroque Motifs stamp set in Basic grey and Pomegranite ink. I have cut both out, and then layered them, placing a rhinstone brad in the centre and a touch of dazzling diamonds glitter again! I then added the strip if Basic grey taffeta ribbon along the top.

And last of all I have made a small 6 x 6 scrapbook page. It is slightly different to the sketch because it doesn’t have the height, but I think you get the idea, all the same

img_2297-custom.JPG

For this page I used Basic grey cardstock for the base. I have added the embossed bumps with my Crop-a-dile…LOVIN that tool!

I mounted the photo onto some DS paper from Stampin’Up’s Jersey Shore paper pack to go with Melanie’s Brilliant blue top she is wearing. I then pape pierced two rows of holes over the paper and cardstock.

Next I added the little silver embellishment which I fed through some Pumpkin pie striped ribbon which I have doubled over to make it thinner.

For the greeting along the bottom, I punched out a scallop of Pumpkin pie cardstock and paper pierced each scallop. I added a circle of Brilliant blue cardstock, which I have added a rub-on in white. Finally finishing it off with a silver brad from Stampin’Up’s Styled silver Hodgepodge which is currently in the Spring Mini catalogue.

So there you have my little creations. I hope you like them! Thanks to Beate for another wonderful weekend sketch Challenge! Go and give Beate so comment love, at www.beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com

 Take care!

Taylor’s Cupcake Challenge

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Hi again! I hope you have all had a great Monday! Mondays can be like that…….good or bad, but usually we like to have them over with pretty quickly. I have a “get organized for the week approach” on Mondays……washing, meal plans, cleaning, changing sheets etc……Whilst it isn’t the most fun day of the week, it is sooooo good to have things prepped and ready for the week ahead, so that things can run reasonable smoothly.

Well I now have to time to show you what I was up to on the weekend. Taylor Van Bruggen from Taylored Expressions always runs a Friday Cupacke Challenge. She has some amazing sketches, and this week I got to  play along for a change. The idea is to use cupcakes, and since it is Stampin’Up’s Birthday this month I just had to use the stamp set that is reduced by 20%!

Here is Taylor’s Sketch:

tecc38_sketch-custom.jpg

And here is what i came up with:

img_2313-custom.JPG

Here i went with masculine colours for a change!

img_2314-custom.JPG

A close up of all the bling!

So the deets for this card is as follows :

I have used Basic grey cardstock for the base which I cut into a 12 x 12 cm’s square. I cut a strip of DS paper from Stampin’Up’s Spring Break paper pack for along the bottom. I have then cut the same size for the top, of Ruby red cardstock that I have stamped with the Canvas background stamp. I have then added the strips of Soft sky double stitched ribbon through the centre of the join line. I paper pierced all the way around the edge to create a border.

Next I created the stamped cupacke (from the Big Bold Birthday stamp set) with Ruby red, Soft sky, and Basic grey ink pads. I cut each element out and mounted it with dimensionals, adding some dazzling diamonds glitter for effect.

Next I created the scalloped greeting using the Think happy thoughts stamp set, adding the punched circle and brad in the centre. I paper pierced the scallop also.

Lastly I added the greeting onto the DS paper with Basic grey ink, which is again from the Big Bold Birthday stamp set.

Next………….

I created the following Scrapbook page using Taylor’s sketch also:

img_2316-custom.JPG

Again I have used Basic grey for the base, which I have added strips of DS paper from Stampin’Up’s Berry bliss, and Sprink break packs. I then paper pierced around the edges along the DS paper and the base cardstock, followed by adding the strip of Regal rose wide grosgrain ribbon in the centre.

I then have created the photo which I mounted with Regal rose, and Soft sky cardstock. I added the circle features along the bottom with my 1/4 inch circle punch and added a pink rhinestone brad in the centre of each circle.

Next I created the scalloped floral feature………Is that what you would call it? I have cut out the circles with my Creative Memories circle cutting system, as well as my scallop punch, and circle punches from Stampin’Up. The greeting is from the Cherished Memories Rub-on’s from Stampin’Up.

Lastly I added the journaling by writing onto small strips of whisper white cardstock and cutting them up to layer one on top of the other.

SOOOOOO there you have this weeks Sketch by Taylor. You can see more of Taylor’s work, and sketches on her blog www.tayloredexpressions.blogspot.com
