Make it Monday # 16

Hey Everyone,

Apologies to everyone who has been hanging out for this post…….sheesh late again! I must be a bit better organized, and will def. try to better next week.

I know I told I was exhausted yesterday, well would you believe I fell asleep at the dinner table…..yep it is true! Hubby swiftly sent me to bed, even though I was muttering about the computer….and he told me to get my priorities correct, and look after myself and sleep. SO sleep I did and I feel so much better.

It was hard going to the gym at 6am because it is so dark due to the Day light Savings…..I hate getting out of bed when it is dark. It is just against principle…..you should sleep when it is dark. Ah well I survived, and had a little chuckly when that very old sone “Buster Move” was blaring on the stereo! I was like thinking that song came out when i was in grade 8! WOW do I feel old, but it is amazing how somewhere in the recesses of your brain, you have every word to the lyrics stored there, and can sing along!….too funny.

Anyway enought waffling, here is the Make it Monday for you…….I hope you ENJOY!

Materials Required:

·        Paper trimmer

·        Wide & thin ribbon

·        DS paper

·        Whisper white A4 cardstock

·        Bone scorer

·        Scissors

·        Stamps

·        Stamp pads

·        Dimetnsionals

·        Twine

·        Crop-a-dile

·        DS paper

·        DSpaper pack cardboard

·        Cellophane bags

·        Chocolate, or alternate goodies

 Step 1:

Cut the cardboard that is in the DS paper packs from Stampin’Up (or equivalent to 300gsm cardboard) to the measurement of 10cm by 15cm – you will need two of these

Step 2:

At either end on (1) long side you will want to mark 2 cms from the end with a pencil. Do this from both sides.

Step 3:

Cut the cardstock from the top point to the pencil mark, so that it is cut at and angle

You will have two pieces that look like this above

Step 4:

Take those two pieces and on the matt side of the cardstock adhere it to the wrong side of the DS paper that you want shown.

Step 5:

Trim around the edges so the that DS paper is neatly covering the cardboard

Step 6:

Add an alternative strip of DS paper across the centre

Step 7:

Add two strips of the thin grosgrain ribbon, with one of them having a tie at the top row

Step 8:

Decorate your front piece with some punched / stamped images and embellishment

Step 9:

Now for the box that holds the goodies…… Take a piece of A4 whisper white cardstock. You will want to cut it to 24cm’s by 13cm’s

Step 10:

You will need to score the box from the short edge first line at 4cm’s, then 7.5cm from the scored line, then another 4cm’s, and another 7.5cm’s and you will end up with a small roughly 1cm strip at the end. Now along the bottom, you will want to score in 4cm’s from the long side. I have gone over the scored lines so you can visualize it.

Step 11:

Along the bottom you will want to cut up to the line. And then on the little end one you will want to cut that out completely.

Step 12:

Turn you cardstock over and place tape on the two 4cm bits, and a long piece along the 1cm strip

Step 13:

Fold up your cardstock and make it into a little box like so, folding the pieces in, using the tape to hold it together

Step 14:

Punch holes in either end with your Crop-a-dile

Step 15:

Knot you ribbon and fold around to make a handle. You will then not the other end in the inside of the box, so that it holds

Step 16:

Place tape onto both outside, sides of the box

Step 17:

Take your box and adhere it to one side of the pieces of cardboard, then layer the other one on top of it. Make sure you have the sides with the DS paper on the outside

Step 18:

Take your Cellophane bag and load it with Choccies, or nuts, whatever you want

Tie off you little bag of goodies with twine, and put into the box.

Step 19:

Make a co-ordinating tag and tie it with some cord to the wide ribbon

Final Product:

The front view….these sit up beautifully because they have a base.

Other Samples:

Here I have used the Dashing DS paper and the Big Pieces stamp set

And this one is using the Spring Break DS paper pack

Then last of all I have used the Wintergreen paper pack from Stampin’Up, and the Season of Joy stamp set.

AH well that took me all of 1.5 hours to get that tutorial loaded…..phew glad that is done.

I am dying to get to my stamping desk, but can’t seem to get there with so much other stuff to do. Ah well maybe tonight after I feed the in-laws :)

What a Weekend!

Published by Makeesha under Scrapbooking

 Hi everyone!

I hope you are all having a great Monday……well as great as Mondays can be!

Me, I’m trying to recover from one full on weekend. It was great though, but my bed is certainly where I will be very early tonight.

One friday we could spend a wonderfully late evening with friends which turned left us a little sleep deprived. I was awoken to the kids at a bright 6am. I ventured downstairs to firstly give them a nice mug of warm hot chocolate……and ended up with a nasty burn on my wrist! Just a matter of bad timing. I was pouring the just boiled water into the mugs, when my DD 2 and DS 5, decided to have a squable and shove me only to direct the water to pour over my wrist. Talk about pain!!! Not a great way to start the day.

Thankfully I managed to get it straight under the water, and smothered with Aloe Vera. Dr Richard, a good friend of ours, just happened to be coming over that very morning at 8am so I managed to get him to look at it and wrap it etc….Don’t you just hate burns!! They hurt like crazy………

But Saturday was also a very special day because it was Monnie Moo’s Birthday!!! the big…..29. Oh I remember turning 29, and you realize the big 3-0 is just around the corner…..eeK! A group of us got together for Breakfast at the Dome cafe, which was so nice and relaxing.

I did make her a card, and whilst it isn’t exactly what I have invisioned when I started, Mon liked,……or so she said!

So for this card I have used Regal Rose for the base, and stamped the background with the Linen background stamp. I have then layered Chocolate chip, Rose red, and Regal rose cardstock. The greeting which is from Occasional Greetings stamp set from Stampin’Up! I have stamped with Regal rose ink, onto whisper white cardstock. I then have loaded colour with my markers (artichoke, regal rose, & rose red) onto the flower stem stamp that is from the True friend stamp set. I have then cut it out, blinged it up with some glitter and twine and mounted it with Dimensionals. Lastly I added a small strip of DS paper from the Rose Red Designer Prints pack from Stampin’Up!, and a pretty in pink button, and paper piercing in the corner.

I love that True Friend stamp set, but really haven’t used it as much as I could have. I am definitely going to have to pull that out soon, before it is gone when the Mini Catty finishes.

So after breakfast I headed to my trusty web guy’s house for some fine tuning on the my new website, and by the look of my comments box, you are all loving the new look! Thanks for all the lovely comments, and it is sooooooo good to see some of you come out of lurkdom to say hello. Please come back again, and be a stranger no more!

Saturday night was the evening when Day light Savings kicked in here in Perth. I am not a big fan of DLS, and really hope that it gets voted against at the end of the summer. We went out to a enjoy a wonderful evening with Ngaire and Donald…..it was so great, and the guys have really become good friends after the Incentive Trip….which is so cool! The thing was, we stayed till almost 12pm, before we left for the 50 minute treck home…arriving just before 1am, BUT we still had to bring the clock forward and hour, so it was really 2am!

What a rude shock it was to get up early to head out for church by 9am with 4 kids in tow,….I struggled to keep my eyes open! Thankfully a good afternoon sleep helped wonderfully.

An afternoon sleep is great, unless it stops you sleeping at night, which is what happened to me! I hate that. I was up till 4am this morning unable to sleep. I ended up getting out at 3am, because my head was buzzing and I needed to write lists! I tell ya 5 pages later I headed back. I have everything sorted for Christmas now!!! Oh too funny. When I finally did fall asleep the alarm went off 1.5 hours later to get up for my walk with Monnie Moo I was knackered! The walk was good, except for being stalked by a very BIG Kangaroo, which had me freaked and Mon, laughing at me!

What a weekend and what a day! I really hope I have a more settled week this week, because I am knackered!

Be back soon for the Make it Monday……and I think you might like this one!

So what do ya think and some Blog Candy!

Published by Makeesha under Chitchat with Keesh

Hey There!

Well at long last I have a new website design. I know it wasn’t all that long since I re-vamped it last, but there were things that weren’t functioning too well, and I’d like to think it is more user friendly.

Thanks goes to two very special people……..my trusty web guy Rob! You are amazing!!! I hope you enjoy all those Tim Tams i got ya! - but don’t let Richard see you eating them!

And the next to Janelle Ashmore, who is the very creative lady behind my graphics……she was amazing as well, and would even stay up till 1am getting it put together for me! Seems we share something in common…..being night owls! I would recommend Janelle to anyone, so if you need some graphics done, her website is: www.janelleashmore.com.au

I know, I know….it is VERY pink, but I LOVE pink, and well it is fun and fresh and with summer coming it just feels so right.

Now some of you may be wondering about my name change??!! It is a bit of a funny story really……. and goes like this.

I had heard the saying “Stamp your art out” a few years ago and thought that was really clever! So when I was thinking of a title for my previous banner, i used that, even though my web address stayed as makeeshabyl.com    it was only 2 days later that my dear friend and upline Ngaire called me to say that she has registered the exact same name for her  new web address because she was having one built by the fabulous Gabbbie at the time….SHEESH what an amazing co-incidence. Nagaire was fine with me keeping it (bless her) but i just felt bad about it, so hence the change!

Soon after I began thinking of a whole new change etc…….racking the brain, which is dangerous at time, I thought that since my team name registered with Stampin’Up! is “Inkspirations” , it would be a great alternative.

To celebrate the new design, I am offering some fun, and exciting Blog Candy!!! YAY!!! for Blog Candy!

So what is up for grabs?

A box of Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware, and a array of hand stamped projects by me.

What do you have to do to win?

Leave me a comment, and tell me your Favourite Stampin’Up! colour, and you least favourite colour.

When does it finish?

You will have until Saturday 1st of November 12pm

After I recieve your comments I will make a project using the most Favourite colour, and the least favourite……I can see some Summer sun coming out of the very back of the cupboard!!!

I will be back soon, to show you some projects once I work out the new photo uploading….thing a majigy!

Take care!

Some more Inspiration from Beate!

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Are you ready for something totally different? Hmmmm, not to sure about what i have made, but here goes!

This weeks Be Inspired Challenge from Beate www.beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com was the following image:

bic28lubiydaybedcb2-custom.jpg

And here is my very different (for me) creation

img_2334-custom.JPG

img_2335-custom.JPG

See what I mean? Just to be quick….I have used, Chocolate chip, Whiper white, Ruby red, and really rust cardstock. I created the swirls , which are meant to resemble the mat on the floor with my Creative memories cutters. I then added the large aluminium circle to the ruby red strip and added the stamped circle using Stampin’Up’s Wishing you the best stamp set. I have added the scoring, paper piercing, ribbon, and brads for detail.

Phew, gotta go as we are going out for dinner, but I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Challenges all round….

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Scrapbooking

Hey again!

Well I am sure you are keen to know what the new challenge will be for this week…..not to mention find out who I picked for top card this week!

So once again it was hard, but I just loved this card by Mandy Schiller! Her take on an “femenine Bronc Buster” was really outside the box, and I love it! Go check out Mandy’s Blog at www.mandyschiller.blogspot.com

Here is her creation:

Thanks to everyone else who played along……who where they? Here is the list!

Sarah - www.brucensarah.blogspot.com

Helen - www.chookscrap.blogpsot.com

Zarna - www.zarnasworld.blogspot.com

Ange - www.angeliquekelly.blogspot.com

Natasha - www.natashamurraystamping.blogspot.com

 So for the next Challenge……….

I thought it was about time for a Colour Challenge again, and decided on the following colours….

Soft sky

Pumpkin pie

Basic grey

Regal rose

Whisper white

Yes these colours work together……something a little different, but I like it, how about you?

Here are my samples for you:

img_2325-custom.JPG

img_2327-custom.JPG

Do you like? I have created the petals by stamping the ouline stamp from Pick a Petal stamp set from Stampin’Up with Basic grey ink onto some Pumpkin pie DS paper. I then cut the petals out, and mounted them onto Regal rose cardstock and cut that out so that they had a nice border. I then added some bling with my 2-way glue pen and dazzling diamonds glitter. The rest is pretty easy to work out etc…. but if you have questions just ask.

img_2328-custom.JPG

img_2330-custom.JPG

Next I created this Scrapbook page of my daughter Tiarne. I created the flower using the Fabulous Flowers stamp set, by stamping it onto the Soft sky, Pumpkin pie, and Regal rose cardstock with Versamark and embossing it with white embossing powder. I cut them out and layered them, placing  a pink rhinestone brad in the centre. I paper pierced a border around the Soft sky cardstock. and lastly added the ribbon, brackets made with the large oval punches, and used the sprial punch on the pumpkin DS paper.

Then last of all I made this little Love note:

img_2322-custom.JPG

For this little one, I have used all the coloured cardstock, and the One of a kind stamp set. I used paper piercing, pumpkin DS paper and some Soft sky double stitched ribbon and a pumpkin rhinestone brad for embellishment.

I soooooooo hope you can play along this week, and i totally can’t wait to see your creations!

Have a great weekend everyone!
