BLOG CANDY WINNER!

Published by Makeesha under Chitchat with Keesh

 Hey again……..

We are about to head down south for the weekend, to spend time with hubby’s brother Anthony and family. The kids are bouncing off the walls with excitment because they get to see their cousins! They also have four kids, all the same ages, gender and order! So they really do get to have fun. Actually they have had their bags packed since Wednesday afternoon…….I kid you not!

So I realized the the Blog Candy was meant to be announced at 12pm today, but since we will be leaving soon, and I don’t have computer access whilst being away, I thought you wouldn’t mind it being announced a little early :)

So I used Random.org to pick the number for me and it came up with Number # 44……

Which is from Helen and her comment was :

Hi Keesh, love the new blogs name (loved the old one too).

I’m only a beginner cardmaker so I still haven’t used all the stampin up colours yet, but of the ones I have used, I would have to say Chocolate Chip is my favourite. So versatile. I love pink and brown together so I use it heaps.

As for the one I dislike the most, I would have to say Handsome Hunter after trying to use it in a challenge recenly. Didn’t like it at all.

Keep up the good work on your great blog.
Helen

So Congratulations Helen!!!! I will be in touch with you asap to arrange delivery of your Hodgepodge Hardware, and goodies.

Well better go and get organized for our trip. I hope you all have a great weekend. I am looking forward to the break. All week i have felt that I have been one step behind….so much to do, and not getting on top. So I think the break away will be great, and I can come home and get stuck into it! If you have emailed me and I haven’t replied yet, I apologize…….I will def. get back to you on Monday :)

Enjoy the weekend!

Love Keesh

ETA: I will round up all the most Favourite colour, and least, on Monday, and present you with my samples!

Challenge round-up and a newbie :)

 Hi again,

Well once again I have had fun looking at everyone’s entries for the Colour Challenge! It is interesting to hear the responses to my mix-up this time!!! Some of you doubted me, and some of you decided it wasn’t to bad after all…:)

I have chosen a winner from the ESAD-SU group which is for Demonstrators, and I run the weekly challenges for, but I have also chosen a winner for someone who isn’t on the group, because her card is just too cute!

Here is the winning entry by Carol.

Cute hey! You can see more of Carol’s work at www.inkantations-and-inkarnations.blogspot.com

And I just had to show you this gorgeous card by Zarna as well……very creative!

Isn’t that th cutest cupcake! This would make a fabulous Birthday invite! You can see more of Zarna’s work at www.zarnasworld.blogspot.com so pop in and say hello!

The other entries were all great too, and like I said I am proud of those that got out of their comfort zone and had a play with this colour challenge!

Ok so you ready for the next Challenge?

I have decided to go with a sketch challenge for this week. They make stamping so much easier! Here is my sketch I had put together…..do you like it?

All you have to do is follow the sketch, for your card, or project. You don’t have to be super pedantic, but it should generally resemble the sketch.

Here are my samples for you:

For this card I have used the Scribble this stamp set from Stampin’Up! I used Purely pomegranite for the base, and have added the satin ribbon for one strip, and some DS paper from the Holiday Harmony paper pack from Stampin’Up! as the other. I stamped the flower onto some of the paper and cut it out to get the pattern in the backgroud and then mounted them one upon the other to get the depth. I cut the two circles with my Creative Memories cutters, and distressed the edges with my cutter kit from Stampin’Up! The little greeting is from the Occasional Greetings stamp set which i stamped with Whisper white stamp pad.

It is a bit hard to photograph this card because it is cut out in the centre. I placed all the little circles whole onto the cardstock base first and then cut out the centre which left a little of them behind, to create that scallop around the front window.

Here is what it looks like in the centre of the card:

I have layered the bird up by cutting it out and mounting it with dimensionals. I also paper pierced around the circle

And here is the front of the card, when I hold it closed with my hands:

I have used the Always stamp set, with Groovy guava, Blue Bayou, and Soft Sky cardstock and DS papers. I have also used the guava double stitched ribon, and vanilla half pearls for embellishment.

Then last of all I made a scrapbook page:

Bayou again….but it matches so nicely.  I used textured cardstock to begin with. I added the strips which are from the Spring Break, and Spring Fling paper pack from Stampin’Up! On the celery strip I also added a small strip of Soft sky cardstock, layered with the Blue Bayou double stitched ribbon tied into a bow. I have cut the flower and double mounted it with the other cardstock, I have also punched out 1″ circles, and mounted the to the underside to create the scalloped edge around the circles. I have cut out two flowers from the Spring break paper, and then mounted them onto cardstock, to get the coloured border, finally adding some glitter for effect. I mounted these with dimensionals, and have lastly added the paper piercing around the whole outer border of the page.

So there you have my samples. I hope you like them :) I really look forward to seeing your creations, and hope you have a great weekend!

Inspiration Challenge #29 from Beate

 Hey there,

I am back quickly to show you the card I put togehter for Beate’s Inpsiration challenge this week. You can see check out Beate’s challenges weekly on a Tuesday at www.beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com

Here is the Inspiration image to work with:

And this is what I came up with:

Here I started with Kraft cardstock for the base, which I have stamped with the Canvas background stamp with Sahara Sand ink pad. I did this to resemble the wicker look of the bed and floor mat. I have then added a strip if Bayou blue cardstock, that I have also mounted with some Vanilla cardstock, which I stamped the Stem sillhouettes stamp set with Bayou, and Olive ink…..it was nice to dig that out! I so miss that stamp set. I have then roughed up the edges with my distresser.

I then added the large white flower from the Pretties kit. I have coloured the smaller flower with a sponge dauber, and my Bayou stamp pad, lastly adding a large cream pearl in the centre. To finish it off, I have added two photo corner punches of Bayou, and Olive cardstock,  which I have also added 3 antique brass brads brads to each. The greeting is from the Stem Silhouettes stamp set as well, and I have punched it out with the word window punch and mounted it with dimensionals.

Here is a close up:

Thanks Beate for another Inspiration Challenge……I look forward to next weeks!!!

Kristina’s Colour Challenge # 28

Published by Makeesha under Scrapbooking

 Hi again,

I have to be super quick because I have my wonderful team coming over tonight to stamp and catch up again for the month. But I really wanted to get this posted before the cut off.

Kristina’s colours this time were different, but quite good to work with…..well I am happy with what I managed to come up with.

Here is the color inpiration piece:

And here is what I came up with:

Remember these cute slip cards we made at the Stamp a thon? I thought I could work with that template again. I have used Pumpkin pie for the base, then layered with Ruby red. I have then added a strip of DS paper from Stampin’Up’s Spring Break paper pack. Along the bottom I have place a slit punch, and then paper pierced a border all the way around. Next I took a piece of Whisper white cardstock, and spiral punched the side and added a round tab punch of Ruby red cardstock at the top adhering it with a staple. I made a belly band for the centre using Ruby red cardstock, pumpkin pie DS paper from Stampin’Up’s Spring break pack, and I then added a small strip in the centre, with a little strip of Black gingham ribbon in the centre, to match the inspiration image. Lastly I stamped the image which I have coloured up using my markers to get the two different colours, and i placed a pumpkin rhinestone brad in the center. I have also added a row of Ruby red brads along the bottom.

Then I thought “Hey these would make great colours for a masculine card!” …..so just had to try that as well.

Here is my card:

Isn’t he the cutest little fish!!! I just have to give you a close up!

For this card I have used Sage shadow for the base which is stamped ramdomly with the circular stamp from the Priceless stamp set with Sage ink. I made the strip with Ruby red cardstock, and layered it with spotty Pumpki pie paper from the DS paper prints pack, adding some twine at the bottom.

I have then stamped my fish from Stampin’Up’s Fishy friends stamp set with Stazon ink onto Watercolour paper. I have coloured him in with my aquapainter, and stamp pads. I made the circular greetings with my punches, and the Think Happy thoughts stamp set. And lastly I added a spiral punch to the bottom right hand side.

Oh better fly that was a knock at the door!

RAK from Louise

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Hey there!

I had hoped to post yesterday, but ended up doing all sorts of other things that desperately needed attention. Then last night I need one of those “chill out” sessions, - no stamping, no computer, just me and a hot shour, a  big mug of tea, a cozy doona, and a good book. It was great, and really revived me! I hope to stamp today with Lee, and hopefully I will have some fun projects for you soon!

Last week though I recieved a BEAUTIFUL card in the post from my dear friend Louise. I just couldn’t not show it to you because it is so pretty.

Lou, must know I love bling and the Pretties kit is my all time fave at the moment. Thanks so much Lou, I have your card nicely displayed on my craft shelf, and think of you each time I see it!

BE back soon everyone………and don’t forget to put in for the Blog Candy….only 2 days left!
