Make it Monday # 10

Whilst I have called it Make it Monday,  I do realize that it is Tuesday today! BUT there is always a story to justify it!

Yesterday i knew that the camera batteries needed charging and so took them out of the camera and popped them into my jacket pocket. Being a Monday….that mean lots of washing for 6 people in my little side of the world, and when I loaded my machine, I realized that well my jacket needed washing too so, off it went and into the machine. Forgetting the batteries!

Then late afternoon I prepped everything to get your Make it Monday put together, and whoops where do you think I found the camera betteries????? Yep at the bottom of the washing machine.

I tried them out in the camera, but they were completely fried by the soap suds and water. SO hence no Make it Monday.

I hope you can cope with a Make it Tuesday just for this week! Okay better get on with it hey!

I call these Hodgepodge Keyrings and I just made them up myself :)

Materials required:

img_1887-custom.JPG

Acetate, Punches, Stamps, Stamp pads, Ribbon, Hodgepodge Hardware, Cardstock, Mini glue dots

Step 1:

img_1888-custom.JPG

Take two identical pieces of Hodgepodge Hardware and two complimentary brads. Here I have used the Styled silver Hodgepodge in the Designer label punch shape.

Step 2:

img_1889-custom.JPG

Taking my Designer label punch,  I punched out two shapes of the Acetate.

Step 3:

img_1890-custom.JPG

Stamp up the images you want to be shown in the inside of your keyring and punch them out with the co-ordinating punch.

Step 4:

img_1891-custom.JPG

Add the two brads to the one end of the harware. You will need to trim off the tails a little.

Step 5:

img_1892-custom.JPG

Take your punched out stamped images and layer them wrong sides together with dimensionals in between them.

Step 6:

img_1895-custom.JPG

Start putting it together, first with the Acetate, then your stamped images.

Step7:

img_1896-custom.JPG

Put adhesive on the other piece of Hodgepodge and close it together. I used lots of mini glue dots, but your could also use Crystal effects, and then seal it with a peg till it sets.

Step 8:

img_1897-custom.JPG

Make sure it is all fitting in nicely on the other side also.

Step 9:

img_1901-custom.JPG

Add it to a ring and decorate with some co-ordinating ribbon

The other side….

img_1903-custom.JPG

And it dangles like this

Other Samples:

img_1899-custom.JPG

Here I have again used the Styled silver Hodgepodge, and the Think happy thoughts, and Seeing spots stamp sets, with Guava and Pomegranite inks and ribbon

And here is a Masculine one that I haven’t quite got a brass ring for yet, but you get the idea!

Well these were great fun, and they are so unbelievable easy too! Thanks for your patience and I hope you have fun making these cute keyrings.

We had the Stampin’Up training Regionals here in Perth this past Saturday and what a wonderful day it was!!! I was honoured to be able to do a presentation, and so I will be back……after I have taken photos, to show you what i did and I might even include a picture of me on stage!

Take care,

Inspiration challenges from Beate….

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Well those that stalk Beate’s blog would know that she wisely took off time from blogging to enjoy the summer holidays with the kids and hubby……I don’t blame her!

But I have dearly missed her challenges!!! I was counting down the weeks till August 15 would arrive and she would be back in business……..well the only problem was that I then went away from the 20th of August and haven’t had the chance to play along each week. But I have gone back to see the Inpirations and thought I could still give them a go!

These were great, and I have managed to do the last 4 Challenges that she gave us. I am going to show them the most current to later challenges.

This is last weeks image to draw inspiration from:

bic22-marthasteward-custom.jpg

And here is what I came up with :

img_1864-custom.jpg

Here I have used Blue Bayou, Soft sky, and Certainly celery for the colours. I have paper pierced the Soft sky square cardstock all the way around to make a frame. I then added the square of polka-dotted certainly celery ds paper. I have stamped the stem from the Artfully asian stamp set, and coloured it in with my stamp pads and blender pens. The blossoms I have also covered with Crystal effects. I added a strip of double stitched Bayou ribbon along the side. The greeting is from the Always stamps set which I have stamped with whisper white stamp pad, and punched out with my large oval punch. Lastly adding some more paper piercing for effect.

And the week prior:

img_1855-custom.jpg

And my inspired creation:

I think this is the first card that I have made an actual bow on!!! It is really coming back into fashion, as I seem to see it around on lots of people’s creations lately. Well this card I have made a long card and using Always artichoke for the base, in which I then mounted some of the Le Jardin DS paper onto. I have then used some of the wide ribbon from the Theatre Ribbon Original packs, then doubling that up with some Mellow moss taffeta ribbon. I took a punched circle scallop of Artichoke cardstock, adn then also stamped and cut out the floral stamp image from the Brocade basics stamp set, placing a rhinestone brad in the centre.

The week before:

img_1859-custom.jpg

For this one, you can see it is fairly similar, but i still like how it came out. I have used Black for the base, which I then added a square of Ruby red cardstock that has been stamped with the Fine lace background stamp and paper pierced all the way around the border. I stamped the poppies with Versamark and poppin pastelled them, and then adding the two step stamp over the top with Ruby red ink. The greeting is from the warm words stamp set. I lastly added two little strips of black Grosgrain ribbon, and two black brads.

bic19-paolobeddingashgryshtscb2-custom.jpg

And last of all, the very first challenge of the season:

img_1862-custom.JPG

And my creation, which I have no idea where I got the idea for this one!!! LOL!

This card is one of those tri-fold numbers where you lift up one side and then the other to get to the base. Anyway I have used Basic grey for the base which I stamped with the weathered background stamp. Then adding the tri-fold bit using really rust cardstock. I then created the elephant using the kissing technique with the weathered background to give him the wrinkly look and cut him out. I created the grass by making lots of small cuts into a strip of Celery cardstock. Lastly I made the greeting with a few different punches, and the Cirlce of Friendship stamp set. Then I added the strip of Vintage antique brass brads along the left hand side.

Well that was HEAPS of fun! These are my favourite Challenges of all because they do just that……..Challenge me!!! :)

Beate will be back tommorrow with another one, so it will be interesting what she comes up with.

Be back soon,

This weeks Challenge:

I would have loved to have given you this last week, but things have been really crazy over the last few days!!!

So this weeks Challenge is……. To Fall in Love again!!!

Do you rember the excitment of getting a new stamp set….hang on a minute, I hope you still do. What I mean is do you have a stamp set that you absolutely loved to death?? and well has been collecting dust for say the last year? I know I have a few of those.

Also when it comes to colours, our tastes change, I suppose it is a little like fashion, and not to mention the new In colours to keep us swayed in their direction!

So the challenge this week, is to pull out an old stamp set, preferable one you haven’t used in a year, and also a colour of cardstock that you once loved also, and see what you can some up with……

I am expecting lots of Heartfelt Thanks!!! LOL!

Well that is exactly what I did and here is my creation…..

img_1870-custom.jpg

When I was first introduced to Stampin’Up, oh about 7 years ago, I fell in love with Mellow moss, and yes it was love at first site! It was the only colour I bought in a big pack for about a year. I loved it sooooo much, but find I rarely use it now.

So here I used it for the  base which I have also stamped with the Fine lace Background stamp. I then created a scallop edge with artichoke cardstock. The strip along the bottom is Rose Red Designer prints pack paper. I have used the Heartfelt Thanks stamp set for hte flower and added some rose red brads in the bottom corner. Also lastly I added a strip of Mellow moss taffeta ribbon.

img_1866-custom.jpg

For this card I used another good ‘ol stamp set called Petal prints, and another old time favourite colour… Perfect plum

I have used Perfect plum cardstock for the base, and have stamped the background with the triple leaves stamp from the set with perfect plum ink. Then I stamped the lavendar with versamark and actually Poppin pastelled them with Pale plum, and Perfect plum chalks. Then I stamped the two step outline stamp with Plum ink over the top of them. I added a greeting from Stem Sayings, and the half pearls and Mellow moss taffeta ribbon for bling.

I have to say that felt so good to make something new with the old favourites!!! They are still beautiful stamp sets, and colours and it is good to do something different now and then hey!

Anyway if you would like to have a go at joining in the Challenge please do! Just make your project load it up to your blog, or another online gallery, then come and link it here in the comments so I know where to find you!

Have fun and I look forward to seeing all your beautiful work, and I hope you don’t get the sniffles from the dust!

This weeks Challenge samples….

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Scrapbooking

Hey everyone,

Well I have had a couple of busy days, but they have all been good. Today I went out to help a friend buy a new wardrobe at the brand new Ikea built here in Perth. I tell ya, I have only ever been to Ikea once and that was when I was pregnant with Tiarne…..oh bout 9 years ago!

I tell ya I have been missing out! I felt as though I was in another country!! It was amazing and totally mind blowing how much stuff they have in that place, not to mention the kids play centre, restaurant, and the sixe of the lifts!!! We were very successful, and it was rather a site to see me driving down the freeway with all the seats in the Tarago folded down and these huge boxes laying in the car from the front window to the back boot door!

Hmmm I think I will definitely be back there, as I just didn’t get through it all!

Well I also wanted to quickly show you a few of the extra samples I have made with this weeks Colour Challenge I gave you. It was great to see your entries and I will be posting the winner on here tommorrow morning, so stay tuned on that one!

The colours were Regal rose, Apricot appeal, and Certainly celery, and here is my projects:

img_1852-custom.jpg

Okay so here i have used the beautiful True Friend stamp set from the Mini catalogue. I stamped the background with the Tres Chic background stamp with Regal rose ink. Then I added a strip of Apricot cardstock which i have stamped with the Canvas background stamp also adding some strips of celery grosgrain ribbon. I stamped up the flower with my markers, and placed a rhinestone brad in the centre. Lastly adding the greeting which I popped up with dimensionals, and the little scalloped adge along the bottom.

img_1851-custom.jpg

Next I got out the Garden Whimsy stamp set. I have stamped the background cardstock with the Fine lace background stamp, adn then added a strip of the Celery DS prints paper and a strip of wide Regal rose ribbon which I added a little tag to. I stamped up the Butterfly using the rock and roll technique and the heat and stick powder with dazzling diamonds glitter and cut it out. I just added the swirl greeting, and the brads for final touches.

img_1847-custom.jpg

Last of all I put together this very quick scrapbook page. I used the Celery DS prints paper again, and added scalloped edges to the top and bottom strips. The flowers are from the Pretties kit, and I added a strip of wide regal rose grosgrain ribbon and fed it through the  centre of the flower and knotted it. Lastly adding some silver hodgepodge hardware and a greeting from the Short and Sweet stamp set.

Don’t you just love that colour combo! I think it is so fresh and very pretty. Well I will be back with the winner tommorrow, and shortly with the new Challenge for this week!
