Kristina Werner’s Colour Challenge #16

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Scrapbooking

Well once again I didn’t get to whip these up quick enough to load the link to Kristina’s website but it is always a great Challenge, and this time I loved the colours.

Here was Krisitina’s Challenge:

071708-color-custom.jpg

Here are my Challenge cards:

img_0906-custom.JPG

For this card, I used Soft sky for the base, which I stamped the Tres’ Chic Background stamp with Soft sky ink. Then I added a strip of Pumpkin pie DS paper with a strip of wide celery grosgrain ribbon. I then stamped the flower with Pumpkin pie and Certainly celery inks. I added a rhinstone brad in the centre, and some dazzling diamonds glitter with a little knot of Soft sky double stitched ribbon on the flowers stem. Oh the stamp is from the True friend stamp set…..which I think is going to burn some rubber in my hands!!! Lastly I added some paper piercing, and the word friend from the Wonderful Favourites stamp set.

img_0908-custom.JPG

This a little Love Note I made with the True Friend stamp set. I used Celery for the base, adding a strip of DS prints paper in Pumpkin pie. I then added a square of Soft sky cardstock that I attacked with the Crop-a-dile to get those little bumps. I used my markers to load up the colour onto this stamp and then cut it out, placing a rhinestone brad in the centre. I inked up the word “Friend” from one of the greeting stamps in this set and cut it out. Lastly I added some little dashes with my white gel pen to get the stitched appearance around the square.

img_0903-custom.JPG

This next little square card, I used Soft sky for the base, then added a square of Celery cardstock which I have paper pierced a frame around. Then adding a square of Pumpkin pie DS prints paper (just love these papers!!!) Next I added the strip of Vanilla cardstock that I added the ribbon to at the bottom. The greeting is from the Occasional Greetings stamp set. I have once again inked up my stamp with my markers, and then cut out the stamped image and mounted it with dimensionals.

img_0901-custom.JPG

Then I just had to put these colours to the test on a scrapbook page. Well I am happy with how it turned out. I used Certainly celery cardstock for the base. Followed with a sheet of DS paper from the Spring Silhouettes pack, which I tore accross the bottom. I then mounted the photo onto Vanilla cardstock with I also added a little strip of celery and pumpkin pie cardstock to with a little clip tied with some striped pumpkin ribbon as well. Across the lower half I added a wide strip of DS paper, with a strip of Soft sky ribbon, and last of all the greeting from happy everything stamp set to set it off….oh not to mention the round tab punch at the top

So there you have this one. It has been really miserable weather here for the past 2 days….spose it matches all the coughing, and sneezing that is going on in this house. Well one upside of being unwell, is that I have had some time at home to stamp……. :)

Be back soon

MAKE IT MONDAY # 2 - CD Covers

Hi everyone,

Well I can’t believe it is time for number 2 already!!!! How fast did that week go!

This week I have done the following tutorial for CD Covers…..I know some of you have been waiting patiently for this one too! So here you go………. and thanks for your patience!!!

Materials Required:

img_0765-custom.JPG

  • Cardstock

  • Stamps

  • DS paper

  • Punches

  • Wide grosgrain ribbon

  • Stamp pads

  • Paper trimmer

Step 1:

img_0766-custom.JPG

Cut a sheet of A4 cardstock at 14cm

Step 2:

img_0767-custom.JPG

Score cardstock at 14cm to create a square

Step 3:

img_0768-custom.JPG

Fold your cardstock over at the scored line

Step 4:

img_0769-custom.JPG

Trim the excess strip off, so that you are left with a 14 x 14 square

Step 5:

img_0770-custom.JPG

Stamp the outer edges where the fold lies

Step 6:

img_0771-custom.JPG

Place double sided tape to the edge on one side of the folded cardstock and close the cardstock together to make a pocket

Step 7:

img_0772-custom.JPG

At the open end of the pocket, punch a half circle with a 1 3/8 circle punch

Step 8:

img_0775-custom.JPG

Add a 4cm wide strip of DS paper around the whole pocket

Step 9:

img_0777-custom.JPG

Add a 7cm wide strip of DS paper which slightly overlaps the smaller strip

Step 10:

img_0778-custom.JPG

Add some wide Grosgrain ribbon and tie off on the front

Step 11:

img_0779-custom.JPG

Last of all decorate your Cover, ie add a tag, or stamped image. Then place your CD in its cover!

 Another idea…..

img_0803-custom.JPG

Here I have taken my CD cover and used it on a Scrapbook page. It is a great way to save photos onto a disc and keep them in a safe place in your Scrapbook album, especially for a special event, like an engagement party, baptism, milestone birthday etc…

Using the CD Covers for gifts is also a great way to give others photos from an event, whilst making it special also.

Well I hope you enjoyed that tutorial…..

Take care!

Splitcoast Colour Challenge

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Scrapbooking

I am happy to show you my latest colour challenge that I completed for this weeks colour challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. I actually got these done last week, but with my computer woes and this nasty flu I have, I have only just managed to show you.

The challenge colours are Almost amethyst, So saffron, and Wild wasabi……and once again I thought this was a peculiar combo, but am rather happy with the results. Here is what I put together…..

img_0786-custom.JPG

With this card I started with Wild wasabi for the base, then adding So saffron cardstock which I have stamped the Tres’Chic background stamp onto. Then adding a strip of Almost amethyst which I distressed on one side. I also added some Very vanilla wide grosgrain ribbon and tied it off at the top. The flower is from the Fabulous flowers stamp set. I stamped it with Amethyst ink 3 different times, then cut them out, and blinged them up with my 2-way glue pen and dazzling diamonds glitter. Lastly adding the word hope which I took from the Tres’Chic background stamp, and mounted it into a small oval antique brass Hodgepodge hardware piece.

img_0764-custom.JPG

For this card I used Amethyst for the base which I rolled with the Bodacious jumbo roller. I then added the two strips and the greeting which is from the Always stamp set. I also paper pierced the wasabi strip and then went over the holes with my white gel pen. Then I stamped up the flowers and leaves from the Bodaicous Bouquet stamp set, cut them out and mounted them. Lastly adding a brad in the centre, and some double stitched Wasabi ribbon.

img_0785-custom.JPG

Here is a little Love Note that I made using the Always stamp set….which is in the new Mini! I have stamped the litttle floral circle stamp all over the base Amethyst cardstock. I added a Saffron and Wasabi strip which I paper pierced and placing some white grosgrain ribbon in the centre. The large heart stamp I loaded the colour with my markers, stamped it onto whisper white cardstock, and then cut it out and mounted it with dimensionals.

img_0784-custom.JPG

Last of all I put together this scrapbook page. The base is Amethyst which I stamped with the scroll from the Scribble this stamp set. Then added the strip of Saffron cardstock at the top which I stamped with the dots from the Itty Bitty stamp set and adding the brads at either end. I created the little journal piece by spiral punching the left hand side of a piece of whisper white cardstock which I also added some double stitches Wild Wasabi ribbon folded over and attached to the underside for feature. I then added the twill tape tied onto the bottom, and I have Embossed the large flower twice with White embossing powder onto watercolour paper and coloured it in with my aquapainter and So Saffron stamp pad. It took a few layers of colouring to get it the deep colour. I then cut them out and double layered them and placed a brad in the centre.

Till next time, take care!

This weeks Challenges…..

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Well I am finally getting back in touch…….I have been sooooo furstraed with my computer, well really not the computer but the internet server that I am tapping into. For 2 days I had absolutley no internet, then I could recieve emails, but couldn’t get into Internet explorer, hence I have had no new creations to show you because I couldn’t! So sorry it has taken a while to get these up here for you!

Anyway, we are all having a great time in Busselton. Rod worked the first 3 days and has had the last couple of days to relax with us, it has been great….apart from some pretty stormy weather which has made it more difficult to keep the kids entertained! BUT…..I have had the best sleep-in’s EVER. On Thursday I woke up at 9:40am!!! I couldn’t believe it. Thanks to hubby feeding the kids before he went to work and putting on ABC kids to keep them amused! My only sad news is that I have come down with a real nasty cold. It is awful, but at least I don’t have to go anywhere, and can hang out in my jammies and chill out :)

All right onto the stuff you are actually reading this for…….sorry about all my waffle above!

Being the Challenge Co-ordinator for the Demo group, I set 2 new Challenges every Thursday and so I will also show them to you and allow you to play along also.! All you need to do is follow the challenge and email me your creation, or load it to your blog and write a comment under this post with the link.

Okay for this week I first set a Sketch challenge. I found the following sketch on Taylor VanBruggen website called Taylored Expressions. She has some great sketches….So thanks Taylor!

tecc21_sketch-custom.jpg

Okay so here are my creations

img_0759-custom.JPG

It has been really difficult to photograph the photos here in Busso. I am so used to my little “spot” in my craft room that has the perfect lighting etc…. Anyway I know you still get the idea.

This card I have used soft sky for the base which I stamped with the little spots. I then added a half circle of DS paper. The Cupcake is from the Big bold birthday stamp set which I have used Purely pomegranite, Pretty in pink, and Soft sky ink. Then lastly adding some Double stitched Pomegranite ribbon and rhinestone brads from the Pretties kit.

img_0753-custom.JPG

I love this little froggie! I used Bayou cardstock for the base which I rolled with the Rough texture jumbo roller. I used a half circle of river rock spotty DS paper. I then stamped up the Frog onto some Wasabi cardstock also stamping some spots onto it with Wasabi ink. I then cut him out and mounted him onto the white cardstock. I stamped the little flowers along the bottom and coloured them with my blender pen and stamp pads. Lastly adding the  little punched circles of River rock which I also punched the centres out of, and some Wild Wasabi double stitched ribbon, and the greeting in the circles.

img_0762-custom.JPG

Lastly I used this sketch for a scrapbook page too. I used Tempting turquiose for the base to match the photo. The large circle is from the Petal prints DS paper. I then mounted the photo on Certainly celery cardstock, and adding some wide regal rose grosgrain ribbon. Then I added the little circles which are Regal rose and Certainly celery cardstock. Lastly adding the scallop punch and the always stamp from the Always stamp set.

Okay the second Challenge was a Inspiration challenge. I think I am missing doing these from Beate’s website! LOL!

Well last week my dear friend Alison came over with her 2 children. Her gorgeous little girl Amber, had the cutest dress on, and I found myself saying……hmmmm yum Pomegranite, Pretty in pink, Celery and Choc chip….what a great combo! So I had to dig out the camera and take a photo! This is the little darling and the inpiration for the following card.

img_0713-custom.JPG

now what a Cutie Patootie!!!

img_0751-custom.JPG

Well using all the colours I meantioned I cut 3 squares and rolled them with the So swirly jumbo roller. Then using the Pricless stamp set to stamp up the swirls, and then I rock and rolled stamped the butterflies and then cut them out and mounted them onto the swirls and adding some dazzling diamonds glitter. I have then added the gretting onto a smaller strip topping it off with some double stitched pomegranite ribbon.

So there you have this weeks challenges. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Take care and have a great weekend!

Kristina’s last colour challenge…better late than never…right?!

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Scrapbooking

Okay, well I have managed to steal some time away into this newly converted stamping studio of mine here is Busselton!

I have put together a couple of projects with the last colour Challenge from Kristina Werner…I was just reading her blog today, and I was super suprised to find out that she actually works for SU as a graphics designer!!! Imagine that…designing the new DS paper etc….. yummo!

Well this was Colour Challenge 15

070908-colorchallenge-custom.jpg

Now the minute I layed eyes on this group of colours, I was literally drooling…..I kid you not! So it has taken a few days, but I finally got to have a little play with them and this is what I came up with.

img_0741-custom.JPG

Okay this simple card I have used the Brocade Basics Stamp set. I used Chocolate chip for the base, adding a strip of Really rust carstock with some Antique brass eyelets. I made a long tag with whisper white carstock and stamped the large stem with Certainly celery ink, also adding some of the wide celery ribbon and a brad for the tie at the top. I stamped the flowers with rust ink and cut them out before adding them to the tag. Lastly I added the greeting which I cut up into 3 and dimensionaled the middle one.

img_0742-custom.JPG

This is a cute little love note using the Fun & Fast notes stamp set. I triple mounted the 3 different colours, paper piercing around the Celery cardstock. I then used Watercolour paper, and spiral punches the top left hand corner. I then stamped the Hedgehog with Stazon ink and coloured him in with my Aquapainter and stamp pads. Finally I added some Celery grosgrain ribbon and the word friend from the Wonderful Favourites stamp set.

img_0747-custom.JPG

Here is a scrapbook page of my 4 little munchkins in our Orchard!. I have used Really rust for the base which I stamped the little circle stamp over the background. Then added some DS paper……from the new mini! I have used my white gel pens to draw dashes around the edges. I added the stamped flower which is from the One of a kind stamp set which I inked up with my markers to get two different colours, also adding a jumbo eyelet in the centre. I then added the saying from the A beautiful thing stamp set with some Hodgepodge hardware secured by some celery grosgrain ribbon. Lastly adding 3 celery brads up in the top right hand corner.

img_0744-custom.JPG

Last of all I have created this masculine card with the Seaworthy Stamp set. The base is Chocolate chip cardstock that I stamped with the Sanded background stamp with Choc chip ink. Then adding a strip of the new yummy DS paper that I have also paper pierced. I stamped the boat a couple of times so that I could cut out the sails to give it a 3-D effect which I think looks fab-O with this stamp! I distressed the edges with my cutter kit and added some slotches with my Spritzer tool with a Really rust marker. Lastly adding the saying from the Define your life stamp set, and some Celery brads.

Okay so there you have it…….I am learning the art of being very patient at the moment!!! I actually thought I was quite a patient person, but this one post has taken close to an hour to upload rather than only 15minutes with regular broadband! I am happy to have wireless internet, but I had no idea that it is like being back in the dial-up days!!!

It probably doesn’t help that it is now past mignight and I need to be in bed!

Talk soon,
