Our Orchard….

Published by Makeesha at 1:57 am under Family

This time of year is always very pretty on our property. We have an Orchard, that whilst it is lots and lots of work, it also can be enjoyable.

What I love, is the beautiful array of colours it gives this time of year. We have 650 Sweet Persimmon trees over about 3 acres. Sweet Persimmons are deciduous and so before they lose all their leaves they turn all shades of burgundy, red, orange, and yellow.

So when I look out the window at the moment I see such beauty. I have taken a couple of photos and thought I would show them to you. I should have taken them earlier in the week before the terrible storms hit this week because they then lost lots of leaves, but it still is very pretty.

This is from the bottom paddock, looking up into some of the Orchard. You can only see a small portion of the Orchard here. That is our house in the background which is about 100 years old. Our property was the first stop for the horses and carts to stop for water when they were on their way down south to Albany. There was a Waterwheel right on the corner, hence why our street is called Waterwheel Road.

This is inside one of the rows of trees. You can see a lot of the leaves have fallen to the ground, and lots of Sweet Persimmons ready to be picked.

And this photo is taken from across the road. You can see the netting over the Orchard which stops the Black Cockatoos ravaging the Orchard. We have a dam at the bottom paddock too where the Palm trees are which is great in Summer!

I feel very blessed to live here. God has blessed us so much. Whilst it is a lot of work living on land, and can be stressfull during fruit season, we have so much to be thankful for.

There you go….. a little snippet of my little place :)

Enjoy your day!

Love your place Keesh. You have a lovely spot there. I’m sure it would get pretty hectic during picking season, but you have some lovely views to look at. Do you only sell to markets or do you sell privately as well. Those fruit sure look good ;)
