Kristina Werner’s Colour Challenge # 10
Well she has done it again….yep managed to challenge us that is…. Kristina has given us the following colour challenge.

My first reaction was , Oh these are nice colours together…but to be honest I did find them harder that I thought I would!
For some strange reason I am not liking Old olive at the moment. I always used to love it, but lately I am finding it quite a strong colour to work with. Having said that, this combo does mellow it out a little. So here is what I came up with (all masculine too!).
Since these are really oceany colours I of course first went for the Fishy friends stamp set. It is quite strange how you don’t use a stamp set for months and months and then all of a sudden you fall in love with it again!
Okay I used a Not quite navy background, with Old olive, So saffron and Bashful blue cardstock. Punching out some different sized circles to create a feature to the left hand side. Then the Octopus I stamped with Stazon and then colured with a good ‘ol paintbrush, water and my stamp pads. I then paper pierced a border, and blinged it up with some Olive ribbon, and Bashful blue brads.
Next I used the truck from Loads of Love (another stamp set I haven’t used in yonks!) I have stamped the canvas background stamp on the base cardstock. Then using some Spring break DS paper for the striped strip which I also mounted with Bashful blue cardstock. Stamping the Truck with Stazon on Watercolour paper, and colouring it again with my paintbrush and stamp pads. I just used the Bashful blue grosgrain ribbon, and brad for embellishments, along with 2 punches of the word window punch stapled down along the bottom right hand corner. The greeting is from Occasional Greetings.
Next I made a long card using the Big bold birthday stamp set. The top is stamped with the same happy birthday stamp from Occasional greetings. Then with the Olive strip I stamped the little circles from the bold birthday set. Really the stamping is pretty simple, and I just used some dimensionals to pop up the birthday cake and added some glitter and brads, and paper piercing to bling it up a little.
Last of all, I made another long card going the opposite direction. I wasn’t going to show you this card as I am not really happy with it. I think the initial intentions for this card was good, but it didn’t quite make it…..oh and the crooked greeting doesn’t help! It drives me nuts but I haven’t the time to re-do the whole thing just because it is slightly crooked.
Once again I have painted the image (which is from Summer by the Sea stamp set) with my paintbrush and stamp pads. The olive strip I stamped with the Background sampler stamps. Then added a fine strip of Bashful blue, and some ribbon that is hooked to a piece of Hodgepodge hardware. I used the photos corner punch for the top right hand corner which I added a Not quite navy brad to.
Well at least I have some masculine cards for my card box now! Thanks to Kristina for challenging us again!
Till next time…..

LOVE these cards!!! You did a fantastic job!!! I expecially love the Fishy Friends one!
I thought I was doing well to get one card done! I guess you made up for the lack of stamping time yesterday… They’re all gorgeous, but I love the octopus one the best, it’s just soooo cute!
My goodness… not 1 but 4 cards…WELL DONE.
The colours are trickier to work with than you think aren’t they, and doing mine at 10pm probably didn’t help… hahaha.
Great cards.

If you were having trouble with the colors it doesn’t show! Lots of great inspiration!
Great cards, love the 3d background on the first card!
love these cards … I saw Kristina’s challenge today and thought ‘ooooo’ so I’ll have to give it a try tomorrow. Hubby was intent on re-arranging the lounge room today so no guessing who had no chance to stamp today - thankfully he goes to work tomorrow and the girls are at school!

Hi Keesh, I absolutely adore the fishy friends card and I would of found those clours hard to work with but you have certainly made it look easy, well done and keep up your amazing creations. I also loved your post about Tiarne and like Jen it made me step back and realise just how blessed we mums are. Take care and stay inky, from Charmaine
Yay Keesh, you’re in the round up!!!
not top ten, but watch your blog counter climb…. I am still loving that octopus and a second look has just about convinced me I need that set…LOL
Stunning cards! Congratulations on making Kristina’s random selection.
Well done Keesh! Loving the watercolouring (my favourite technique). Congrats on getting into the top 20- so many aussie girls got in! Your technique is fantastic. Will definitely come back again!
