Melanie’s 30th Birthday card…..

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Seems it is the month to turn 30, as I have 3 of them to go to!!!

My dear friend Mel turned 30 this week! We grew up together as next door neigbours since we were young girls. We would practice handstands on the front lawn, ride our bikes to the deli, diet together, and of course practice putting make-up on each other. Lots of my growing up memories have Mel in them. So whilt I know 30 is not old, we still both can’t believe we are now in our thirties!!!

Poor Mel, wasn’t feeling too good about saying goodbye to her twenties, and I remember that feeling oh so stongly also! But now that I am over it I really realized that it is just the lead up to turning thirty that is hard, once you are there and you feel no different, it isn’t such a big deal after all….funny people aren’t we!

Well I made a special card for her birthday, and since I just love the saying in the Fabulous flowers stamp set, I decided to add a little something to that to make is special just for her.

Can you see it? Yep…”Dare to be Fabulous at 30″ Hopefully this will help her to see that life is just beginning at thirty!

On saturday night we had Mel’s birthday bash. She decided to go out with a few of her fave girlfriends for a limo ride and flash dinner….Well a night to get dressed up, of course we gals were up for that!

Here are a couple of photos….at least they prove that women in their thirties still know how to have fun!

And here I am with Lee.

It was a good fun night and the dinner at (A)llure restaurant at Burswood was deluxe too…not to mention the dessert!

Thanks Mel, for the great night out, and I really hope you had a wonderful Birthday!

Card By Monique….

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Hi again,

My gorgeous friend Monique (aka Monnie Moo) came over on Wednesday night so that we could spend some time to scrapbook our Convention photos together. That way we should get them done……well that is the plan.

But she gave me a gorgeous card that she had made. It is really different and I wanted to share it with you.

img_0337-custom.JPG

Monique has used the Baroque background stamp on the Cocoa cardstock, but she has also stamped one with with Regal Rose, cut it out and mounted it. I think it looks great and I had never thought of actually cutting out the background pattern.

Thanks heaps Monnie Moo…..oh and whenever you feel the urge to give me a card again, I will be more than happy to recieve it!!!!!

Iv’e gone a little Sketch Crazy!

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Yep that is me….Sketch Crazy! hehe

I just loved Beate’s Weekend Sketch this past weekend. So I was having a little play with it, and then I made some more, and some more because it is just so versatile!!!

This is Beate’s Sketch

img_0315-custom.jpg

This was the first card that I made. Once again using the Berry Bliss DS paper, and the Boho backgrounds stamp set. I cut larger cirlces and then punched the wheel out with my scallop punch. I blinged it up with a white half pearl from the Pretties kit and some pink brads, and pink taffeta ribbon. The greeting is from the Spring Solitude stamp set stamped in Purely pomegranite ink on Whisper white cardstock.

Next I made this masculine card mainly using the Spring break DS paper (just love the colours of this paper!). I used my brand new Seaworthy stamp set surfer dude which I stamped in Blue Bayou, and double mounted with pumpkin pie cardstock. I used the greeting from the It’s a birthday stamp set, and followed with some Double Stitched Blue bayou ribbon and some olive brads at the bottom.

img_0317-custom.jpg

I just love how this card turned out. Good thing it is little miss’ 3rd b’day this year, I am already organized which will be a first for the kids b’day cards! I used Soft sky cardstock as the base then mounted Rose Red DS print paper with a strip of Pomegranite cardstock which I also added a strip of pink taffeta ribbon. I used the Big blod birthday stamp set with Apricot appeal, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, and Soft sky inks. I used the kissing technique to get the spots onto the top of the cupcake also. Then just adding the number 3 and the greeting with whisper white ink. Lastly some rhinstone brads from the Pretties kit along the bottom.

Then I thought hey, I will use this sketch for a scrapbook page! How easy this was. I was really missing my brother Bryn (he is my only sibling) who has been travelling the world for the past 18months. I never know where I will get a phone call next….last week it was Croatia and the week before Ireland! Anyway I dug out this photo of the airport farewell and put it together. I once again used the Spring Break DS paper, and some Pumpkin pie cardstock for the strips. I punched lots of little circles and layered them around the pumpkin circle to get the frilled edge. I covered a Chipboard U from the On Board chipboard and stamped the greeting with the Big Deal Alphabet stamp set, alternating between Blue Bayou and Wild Wasabi. Lastly adding the photo corner punch and a round tab punch for little features……Miss you Bryn!

Okay this is that last one…I promise! This is the same layout, I only did it upside down. Here I have used the Basic grey, Prety in pink and Purely pomegranite cardstock which I stamped with the Baroque Motifs stamp set. I have used the Big Deal Alphabet set again to do the title, along with another chipboard alpha for the “B” which I blinged up with the Heat and stick powder and the dazzling diamonds glitter and some pink taffeta ribbon.

Well that was heaps of fun! I will definitely use this sketch again :)

Thanks for looking and take care,

WANTED - Stamp set of the Month.

Published by Makeesha under Cards, Wanted

Hi again!

I have been hoping to have a stamp set of the month on here for quite some time but never managed to get it put together.

So now I have the time I intend to pick a stamp set each month and feature it as much as possible, either on cards, Scrapbook pages, 3-D items etc… So you can really get the feel of a particular stamp set in the current Idea Book & Catalogue.

This month I have picked the WANTED stamp set. When the whole Boho style came out in the US I really wasn’t too sure if I liked it, but having seen it on so many blogs etc… I have really grown to love it, because it is rustic, masculine and different.

WANTED was number two on my wishlist…after Priceless, and it has been great fun to start to play around with the images and paper.

So here are my first 4 creations for you.

img_0321-custom.jpg

The first card is on a Creamy Caramel cardstock which I rolled with the rough texture jumbo roller in Chocolate ink. I also used some of the Outlaw DS paper. With the large rectangle I have used the different wanted stamps with the markers to get the different colours onto the stamp. I then used the Scallop punch to add the feature in the centre with the large wheel stamped in chocolate ink then onto Really Rust cardstock. Finally I added some paper piercing, wide chocolate chip ribbon, copper brads, and some twine with a greeting from the Expressive flexible phrases stamp set.

img_0325-custom.jpg

Next I made a long card with Ruby Red, Night of Navy, Blush Blossom and Sage Shadow cardstock. Once again the Outlaw DS paper that has the paisley print in the background. Last I shadow stamped the horses into a row, and then distressed the edges with my cutter kit. Last of all I added the Hodgepodge Hardware and the twine for embellishments.

img_0323-custom.jpg

As simple as this card is I really like it. The colours are Not quite Navy, Really rust and Mellow moss. I used the Outlaw DS paper on the background. Then I created the tag and stamped the “wanted” up with my markers going around the edges with the NQ Navy marker to get the two-toned colours. Last of all I added the copper brads.

img_0322-custom.jpg

Last of all I made this little square card using Blue Bayou, Chocolate Chip, and River rock cardstock and inks. I stamped the Itty bitty backgrounds around the outer edges. Then on the Vanilla cardstock I rolled the rough edges jumbo roller with river rock ink. I made a large scallop punch in Chocolate chip cardstock and then did the wheel on the Blue Bayou cardstock, punching it out with my 1 3/8 circle punch. Then I added the following embellishments, Hodgepodge hardware, twine, and double stitched Blue Bayou ribbon. The greeting is taken from the So many sayings stamp set. I then paper pierced around the outer perimeter of the inside box.

Well that is just a start I am sure of what the WANTED stamp set can create. I hope you like what I have done with it so far!.

Spoilt by Stampin’Up! Yep it’s true….AGAIN!

Published by Makeesha under Chitchat with Keesh

Recently Stampin’Up! changed their Career Plan. WHAT is that I hear you ask? Well really it just means that there are some new titles that demonstrators can earn.

BUT they also included something great! Yep something they call a Product bonus. So that means that for staying or getting the title of Manager I get a $300 product bonus… that is $300 of product of my choice for FREE!! Yippee.

Now the hardest part about that was deciding what to choose! Oh that list changed I think like 14 times, But in the end this is what I chose and recieved.

copy-2-of-img_0300-custom.jpg

I picked the following stamp sets, Seaworthy, Fabulous flowers, Think happy thoughts, Wonderful Favourites, and Big bold birthday. Then I also recieved the Photo corners punch and the new Stack and Store for all my brads and eylet containers (these are mine inside the stack and store).

So be on the look out for new cards using these stamp sets!

I feel so priviledged to be apart of such a Fantastic company! Thanks Stampin’Up!
