My Birthday

Published by Makeesha under Family

Well what can I say I have hit my thirties now!! I was very apprehensive about turning 30 as I would be saying goodbye to great times in my twenties. Really as my friend Lee says, it is the lead up to turning 30 that is worse than actually being 30! I have to say I agree, as I feel no different and have really enjoyed all the celebrations!

I got very spoilt and pampered on my birthday which was just lovely. First the kiddies gave me some lovely gifts. Then I went to the Hairdressers and had my hair washed and blowdried. I quickly went home to get changed to go out and there was this stunning bouquet of flowers at my door! What a lovely suprise. They were from Lee, Sonny and Sarah. Here is a photo of how beautiful they were

They had one of my favourite flowers, Oriental Lilliums in there which smell just devine. I wish they made purfume with that scent!

Then I went to my mum’s to drop off Malakai and Janaya for the day. I met Lee there and we had a couple of photos taken and then got ready to go out for some pampering!

Then we went to Professional Nail to have a Pedicure and Manicure. It was soooooo lovely to get pampered and have our nails done, AND I didn’t have to pay either which was lovely……very spoilt!

SOOOOO DEVINE!

So happy to be spoilt!

So thanks so much Lee for my special day at the nail spa!  We then did a little bit of shopping of course! Then headed off to Fremantle for a lovely lunch at Benny’s. WOW the menu there was soooo good and I could have eaten half of it, but I still stayed good and had a chicken salad with no dressing. It still tasted really good, as I didn’t have to prepare it myself!

I then came home to another delivery, a big bunch of helium balloons that were delivered from Marika, Jason and baby Sienna, so that was a lovely suprise. Then all the phone calls on the answering machine too! I got one from my aunt in the Northern Territory, My friend Dean that lives in Queensland, from My brother who lives in London at the moment, and long time friend Cherie who sang the whole Happy Birthday song on the answering machine. I also got heaps of text messages so that was really nice to know that I was thought of all day!

Hubby cooked a roast for tea which was great even though I didn’t indulge in any, but it was so nice to not have to cook! Then I went to Fabienne’s my beautician for a facial that night. She really spoilt me too and it was such a nice way to wind down the day.

So turning 30 wasn;t all that bad! Actually I couldn’t have had a more lovely day. Thank you everyone who made it so special for me!

Birthday Cards

Published by Makeesha under Cards

I have jsut recieved some lovely birthday cards in the post and I wanted to share them with you…. I actually thought I would get more “hand-made” ones, but after being told that it is too hard to send them to me, because I make such nice ones that it would be easier to just buy one”! Well maybe I have to lower my standards, or just let you know that I love them and don’t critisize!!! All in all it doesn’t matter whether they are bought or hand made, it is about the love that is given with them isn’t it!

Still I thought I would share some with you here :

This first card is from my friend Henny. She is an amazing Parchment card maker and she has put lots of time into this gorgeous card. It has very fine lace work which unfortunately doesn’t show up too well on the photos, but it is still lovely. I certainly wouldn’t ahve the patience for this…..that is why I stamp!

See how beautiful it is!

This card was given to me by Renae, but Chantelle made it. what I loved about this card is what was inside from Renae….see below!

It is a babysit voucher!!! What a fantastic idea…..better book soon hey before it expires!

Latest Samples

Published by Makeesha under Cards

Well I haven’t done a great deal of anything since the Stamp-a-thon, but I thought you should know that the cards that I have done are posted under the Stampa-a-thon samples under “Stampin’Up events”, so you can have a look there if you are searching for card ideas.

However I have a few odd cards from the mini that I have made that I didn’t use at the Stamp-a-thon that I will post here for you to see :)

img_2346-custom.JPG

I love this card, as sometime trying to use this very thick ribbon can be difficult. Anyway I have just placed a strip of it over the length of the card. Then I used the Polka dots and Petals stamp set to make the petals and then drew the stems and leaves with my black marker and coloured it.

img_2350-custom.JPG

This was one I made for the Blue challenge on the Stamp Central WA group, but never managed to upload it into the challenge file. I have used the Polka dots and Paisley and Petals stamps sets.

img_2155-custom.JPG

This was my first trial with the heat and stick poweder. I love the result and yes am going to be addicted to that too!

img_2156-custom.JPG

This card was inpsired by my friend Sue Joyce, who made one in pretty in pink. I made it with the Bashful blue and then added the little flowers to the top strip. It is a great design with the band slides off and then the card open up into a trifold.

That’s all for now….. hope to get some more done in the next couple of days :)
